  • Ripe Black cherry & raspberry, clove, dried terragon, occasional whiff of vanilla. Nice balance throughout. Slightly short finish today

  • Big & kinda raucous, but with structure to keep it in balance. Big fruit, medium mouthfeel, some floral/herb tones. Still quite young

  • Inky juice with dark berries and some plum on nose. It has a nice balance of fruit, spice and fine tannins. It has aged well and in my opinion has several years to go. Overall a delicious California Syrah!

  • Inky extracted color; nose shows lots of blue and purple fruit, blueberry pie, ripe blackberries, violets, youthful and very richly fruited with oak accents; palate is a wave of glycerin, fruit similar to the nose, and lots of rounded tannin, good acid to keep this fresh, bigger and rounder than what I consider this producer's style, with air this started to develop some Kalamata olive; would prefer to age this more to help soften tannin and knock the edge off the sweet fruit.

  • Deep, dark, spicy, and ripe. Truly one of life's best wines.

  • Saturday Night Double Blind, $40+ (Bin 75): Intensely black with tiny bright violet rim; only partially open on the nose, violets, plum, dark berry, tar; fairly soft; very drinkable but not expressive at this stage; check back in 3+ years.

  • Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium plus expressiveness, plethora of fruit here - dominated by black and blue with undertones of red, spice, and smokiness. Palate: Medium-full bodied, sweet blue and red fruit attack - blueberry and strawberry, uplifting spice kick thru the mid-palate with slight earthiness. Finish: Medium-plus length dominated by spicy red fruit - strawberry and raspberry with darker fruit in the back-ground.

  • This bottle was gifted to me, thank you Sean! Opened last night, starts out really fluffy and without much finish. Dark color, yes and lots of mid-palate fruit but lacked a core and a finish. Put the bottle back away and re-trying tonight, showing better. It does retain the plush and pillowy-like/soft texture, but it has put on and added some acid, some of the SLH citrus you'd expect to find in an SLH syrah. Also some ink and some saddle leather, both adding some nuance to the core. It also lengthened in the finish, too. To me, the complexity is moderate, this should be an early drinker, to catch it now while the fruit and acid register are in play together, the texture and dark color being the solid drivers. I would also reinforce that if you open one, air it out really well before you judge it, as it's take a day and slow ox time to let the wine fairly unwrap.
