Truly a delicious wine. Drinking beautifully right now. Bright, red fruit forward with secondary characteristics of slate. Tannins relatively smooth by now. Great mouthfeel - robust yet simultaneously smooth with a long finish that is both mineral and fruity.

Not a bad everyday wine, but I wish it was less astringent/green on the finish. Anyone familiar with Priorat would pick it blind as Garnacha-based from that region. It's got that deep red/black, expressive fruit and spice up front, but the front half is better than the back half.

Dark Ruby Colour. Strong red berry nose. Opulent and powerful on the palate. Alcohol well integrated (14.5%). Lacks a little bit of deepness and complexity. But still great food wine. Drink now or wait 1-2 years.

Multi hour decant, the nose is dark cherry, raspberry, slight tobacco. The palate is on the soft side for acidity and the tannins are quite smooth, especially with decant time. Black cherry, raspberry, anise and violets are the main theme with a full mouthfeel and a medium finish. Solid QPR.

I tasted an earlier vintage of this several years ago, and was captivated by it. It was fine and vital, full of tension. This by contrast, is quite extracted, dense (lush even), chunky. The nose is dominated by oak (sandalwood type aromas). It doesn't have that charm I experienced earlier - acidity seems lower, the alcohol sticks out slightly. It seems it needs time to develop interest, but I am not sure this is up to it. A shame, as Alvaro has certainly produced some wines which are among the finest I have tasted.

Really enjoyable wine. Decanted for about an hour prior. Pronounced but not overbearing nose, quite youthful, rich red fruit and a distinctive aroma of pine cone. On the palate it's medium + bodied, has medium acidity and finish. The alcohol is well balanced. There is a lot of sweet spice flavours. Quality is very good and there is potiental for further development. A general comment is that the wine is clean, fresh, generally well made but very modern and is quite extracted. How recognisable as a spainish wine this would be in a blind tasting is questionable. That said, it's still a thoroughly enjoyable wine.

Inky purple, vanilla bean dominates the nose followed by black plum, clove, cassis, black cherry with garrigue undertones, tart black fruit on the attack followed by Asian spice and dark berry liqueur, finishes with dark fruit, plum sauce and a little heat

Tasted one hour after opening. It has a medium or pale purple colour with legs. Medium or medium+ intensity with developing black fruit aromas of blackcurrant, liquorice, and boxwood nose. Dry or off-dry sweetness and high acidity with medium or medium- tannin. It has medium+(14.5) alcohol and medium body. Medium+ intensity with blackcurrant, liquorice, and a hint of balck pepper palate with medium finish. Drink now but has potential for two more years.

The entry-level wine of the Alvaro Palacios range of Priorat wines. Varietal composition: 40 % Garnatxa, 30 % Samsó (Carinyena), 20 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 % Syrah. Maturation: 8 months in used French barriques. Decanted: one hour prior to tasting. An exuberant young wine with a dense dark cherry-red color revealing rich aromas of blueberry, kirsch, licorice and some nuances of roasted coffee and cedar wood. Gorgeous well-balanced palate, plenty of appealing black fruit elements, with a supple-velvety texture and well-integrated tannins. Long complex finish. Already very enjoyable now, but has the capacity to age for another 3-5 years.

Ripe, full bodied, punchy blackberry raspberry compote fruit, a clean cool stone palate and lively, racy, fresh acidity. Satisfying savoury bacon tannins on the finish, this has enormous quality for the price which ought to be double. Lovely 91

A blend of 40% Garnacha, 30% Samso, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 8 months on oak, 50,000 cases produced. Bright, youthful cherry red; aromatic nose, ripe cherries and berries, cinnamon, flowers, nice depth; silky, soft, crushed red berries, roses, liquorice, creamy, just a hint of tannin, juicy, balanced and attractive, 14.5% ABV do not get in the way; good length. Even in this cheerful, entry level wine, the hand of the master is visible. At restaurant Perrito Faldero in Madrid, with some Guacamole and a rather delicious hamburguesa.

Powerful nose, full of black fruits and vanilla. Really ripe and luxurious but well balanced and not overcooked. Quite a hit of vanilla on the first pour but that settled off quickly. Packed with lush blackberry fruit and asian spices. Silky tannins and a lovely mouthfeel. Really easy to drink and a great value 'baby-Priorat’.

Full body, dark garnet red, aromatic, black currant, tomato, spices and black pepper aroma, fresh black currant, minerals and pepper on the palate, very fruity on finish, spicy and peppery on long finish, bold, expressive, juicy, very fresh, complex and balanced, too low acidity, light tannins, food friendly. Ideal for red meat. Serve 18º - 22º. Young but very enjoyable now. Drink now and next two years.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), banana, vanilla and honey. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, strawberry jam and cherry. The body is medium/full. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Wonderful fruit forward yet restrained Priorat. Very slate and dark fruits but all in balance and with a nice acidity that actually makes it quite refreshing despite the 14.5%. Despite the 10% Cab Sauv this is very true to the D.O.C and is a typical, and great value, entry to the D.O.C. Decent.

Clear and bright, deep ruby colour with inky legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium+ intensity aromas of strawberries, tomato, pyrazine, liquorice, lavender and black pepper. It's dry in the mouth with a medium+ acidity, high alcohol, medium+ fine grained tannins, medium+ body and medium+ intensity flavours of strawberries, pyrazine, liquorice, lavender and black pepper. Medium+ finish. It's a very good quality wine with a nice overall balance despite it's high alcohol, a lenghty finish and a decent fruit concentration. On the other hand it could have more complexity. Drink now, but it has enought structure and fruit concentration to develop some tertiary aromas in the next 3-4 years.

Medium purple color. Nice nose of massive cherries, some sweet spices and some tobacco and flowers. On the palate there is dark cherries again, tobacco, cassis, flowers and some smoke. Medium+ body with medium tannins and medium-low acidity. Medium length. This is a modern but nice Priorat with an amazing price/value ratio. Not overly complex but great to drink now and over the next few years.

Slightly bitter bouquet … strong woody tannin smell
On the palate pleasantly sweet beginning raspberry and blackberried but quickly followed by similar flavours like the bouquet…
Drinks better than it smells now but for the age slightly disappointing maybe not one for longer aging.
