Holding up really well, nice medium body, med. acid, medium- tannins, black berry + grape flavor, some minerals, light earthiness. However, it is just a simple Barbera, kinda short, lacking any distinctive character. Italian Whites aperitivo. From Mag.

On opening, a harmonious young Langhe red but with strong varietal character (Barbera) which I don't much care for. But 72 hours after being forgotten in a stoppered decanter (take that, M. Audouze!), just amazing, compelling on its own and breathtaking with food. What I loved about this is what I love about the greatest wines: the submersion of all specific characters in a perfectly balanced whole. With these you can't articulate what's present because nothing necessary is absent.

Den kunne slet ikke matche de oplevelser, jeg har haft med tidligere årgange. Syren var lovlig dominerende, og man skulle virkelig smage godt efter for at finde frugten. Uheldig flaske?

This one didn't strike me as very typical Piedmont wine. It was tasty and enjoyable. However, it was big and fruity like a new world syrah but perhaps seeing less oak. It was open and showing integrated tannin. I generally open these wines to pair with Italian food and look for the acid and finesse that compliments the cuisine. In that respect this one didn't deliver so I'm not sure what happened here.

Stunning quality and delicious. No formal notes but this made the entire group having it stop and take notice of what was being drunk (after a few other bottles of different wines). Wonderful on its own given the great cherry and earth (with some tar notes) but had the acidity and tannins to pair well with so many different types of foods.

88-89. Totally drinkable though nothing special. Nice clarity, good fruit, but a bit hot and slight cough syrup. Got better as it sat in the glass. Perhaps decant for a few hours??? I would try this again and let it breath longer. This was just pop and pour.

Consumed side by side with Giacosa's Nebbiolo over the course of two days. A slight preference for the Barbera, due to greater complexity and overall structure, but still not impressed with the value of these wines.

This is quite fullbodied for a Barbera, but the fruit is warm and soft and the flavor profile juicy and berry driven, although it does have some freshness. Easy to drink, easy to like but not so very memorable, I'd serve it slightly chilled on its own or with very light dishes.

I'm agree with the last notes. Not elegant, but really expressive fruit and strong tannins. Clear taste of dark berries and spices, but just medium body. Still to much heat and alcohol, nothing really integreated yet. Would say that im little bit disseapointed, after i tasted the conterno Barbera. But it can develop. Wait and see, or decant the wine.

Dark purple to rim; nose of rich ripe dark berry and plummy fruit; palate is rich and dense with good elegance, finishes with a bit of the stewed fruit and sun dried tomato; good.

Piedmont 2013, Day 3 - Visit to Bruno Giacosa (Neive, Barbaresco, Piedmont, Italy): Not bad. This was quite tight at first, taking awhile to open up into dark aromas of black cherries and berries, violet flowers, and a touch bramble and spice on the nose. The palate had a big, ripe feel to it, with dark notes of black cherries, prunes and plums seasoned with plenty of spice. Velvety tannins and supple tannins carried it into a long, spice infused finish that showed a bit of heat. A decent enough Barbera. Given how big a wine it is though, it needs a few years to come together before showing its best.

Rich scent of berry and hint of vanilla. Much more elegant than I thought of Barbera d'Alba.
