Medium to deep garnet red. Well rounded nose with spices, perfumed, dusty cherries and a hint savory. Much more integrated in day two. Medium acidity with medium tannins (5.5/10) and a medium body. A bit savory and dirty on the palate with a bit of cherries and cedar. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2022.

Again, I really enjoyed this wine. This time, the missus did also. Relatively opaque. Gave it several hours. Dusty nose. Very pleasant full bodied wine with integrated dark blue and red fruit. Pairs very well with duck. Long finish.

The wine looks inky colored. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), mushroom, mineral, espresso, oak, black pepper, petrol. It tastes like black currant (cassis), mineral, burnt and toast. The body is medium/full. The wine has coarse texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

I really liked the wine. The missus was mensa mensa. Decanted for about three hours. Muted old world nose. Very dense color. Pleasant muted black and blue fruit with a touch of merlot. Nice finish.
Decant like crazy. First few hours we just bad, harshly acidic and tasting like a bad cab. Fleshes out over time. Blue fruits, chocolate, mocha, and bitter spice.

After about 3 hours it's quite delicate and the texture is agile and even a little creamy. For the first hour it was like weak water then hit by harsh cabernet tannin. But even with significant aeration it 'francly' doesn't offer the aromatics I yearned for.

Drunk over 2 days, profile seemed to change every glass. From fruity (black, dark blue) and a tad flabby to firm, tannic and a touch acidic to the last glass which is more characteristic of what I'd expect from a quality Cali cab franc - lush, soft but firm, rich blue fruit on entry, dark chocolate on the mid palate. Really good.

Decanted 2.5 hours and consumed I've the next 3. Moderate sediment. Translucent ruby red. Red current, plum, tobacco, milk chocolate, and some spice. Medium-plus acidity. Medium-plus, velvety tannins. Medium-full bodied. Medium-long finish. Went well with smoked pork chops and on its own. Drink now or over the next 1-3 years.

My second of two bottles. Much improved. Secondaries emerging but more life yet. Day 2 found the tannins softer and better integrated w a sweeter character. Lots of fine sediment so stand upright for a day and decant.

This was a very nice bottle of wine. smooth finish with a nice medium body. while the wine was nice the pairing I did was not quite correct. I tried paring this wine with a filet mignon that was seasoned and pan seared. while it was ok with this the pairing did not work.

A nuanced Cab Franc with lots of finesse and a delicate, long finish. Classic CF leather and spice on the nose. Full bodied with green and white pepper on the palate.

Opaque dark purple in the glass, vaporub on the nose or something vaguely medical, black fruit on the palate, cassis and blackberry, with an herbal note of anise, long finish, a real charmer. P&p at the latke/brisket party, enjoyed the little I got.

This bottle is a bit more structured than the last. Cassis, garrigue, black cherry and pipe tobacco. The palette is full and juicy with a strong grip. Smokey vanilla and meaty oak on the finish. Delicious wine that is maturing nicely. 8-18-9-8

PnP through Vinair, then let stand for 30 minutes. Light cherry bouquet, with good legs on the glass. Muted and just a bit closed, but balanced and flavorful, with a good finish. I did not detect any of the varietal spiciness usual with a cab franc, which was a bit disappointing. Blind, I would have identified this as a (fairly good) cab sauv. Drank the rest over 2 days with no real change. I'm going to give the remaining bottles some more time and see if the distinguishing cab franc starts to peek through.

Dark fruit, licorice, cinnamon, pepper. Dense and plush. Clean tannins. Would have a hard time identifying it as a cab franc if drinking blind. Would be great with some lamb.

This is very nice - rich fruit, nicely balanced, with a subtle not of licorice on the nose and palate. But... it doesn't present as a Cab Franc - really more like Cab Sauvignon. No pepper or vegetal notes, no funk. It's a nice wine and decent value at $25, but I like more varietal integrity in my glass.

For $25 on lastbottlewine.com marathon sale this was good. For the full release price around $50- I would have been disappointed. A very fruit forward Cab Franc missing a lot of the secondary notes I want in a Cab Franc. A easy crowd pleasing daily drinker.

Polished off our last bottle of this last night. Consistent over the 6 bottles we picked up. Smooth drinking wine. Food friendly. Some good depth for this price point. This is drinking well now, and I would not expect improvement.

Menthol and a faint touch of bandaid on the nose. On the palate, blackberry, white pepper, bitter tobacco, and a touch of something herbal and earthy - maybe anise? There is a good acidic bite on the medium finish, but there are no noticeable tannins. This is in its drinking window, and it should hold for a few years, though I doubt it will improve. This is not as distinctively a Cabernet Franc as I was hoping for, although fortunately there isn't any celery or green pepper either.

This is a really nice Cab Franc. Lots of nice fruit, tannins and soft on the pallet. Good balance. Fruit does not appear to be over ripe and the alcohol levels are high but in balance also. We drank this wine over 3 days and each day was a little better. I think I would like to leave my other bottle for a few more years.

A ridiculous QPR, this bottling remains a go-to for me, especially with food. Cumin, cooked berries, black currants, pepper, fine acidity and a rich, layered finish.

Decant and 1 hour of air. Not generous on the nose but fresh and appealing. Medium concentration of dark fruit on the palate. Well balanced and integrated.
Pleasant and no flaws but I think I'll hold on remaining bottles for a few years.

Very interesting spice notes of anise, cinnamon and cumin on the open. The notes faded over time, and the body of wine is fairly thin. Nevertheless, it's enjoyable to drink and reasonably priced at $25.

Very solid wine, with more depth than expected. Has the fruit that you might expect, and some additional layers that make it quite enjoyable. Drinking in a good spot. Good QPR and food friendly - the type of stuff that is very nice to stock your "everyday" shelf with.

Jammy dark fruit. There is a hint of earth and tobacco that is doesn't quite make it into the fold, but is there somehow. I agree with the reviews that mention the aging potential in terms of the hidden complexity. Very plush mouth feel and a persistent finish. Its a little fatter than what I normally drink, but I think it is a solid representation of a reasonable Napa wine. 8-18-8-8

Gave 4 hours in the decanter. Nice enough, but underwhelming. Not all that complex. Nose of dark fruit and some eucalyptus edges. Rich in the mouth, but a bit thin and alcohol-y on the finish. PJG: 88/89

Aired 3hrs. Luxurious mouthfeel complemented by slightly subdued chocolatey fruit. Not terribly complex or palate coating but enjoyable especially for a wine putting Cab Franc in the spotlight.

Some Cab Francs on a Saturday afternoon: Very tight. Just starting to open when we were done. Inky purple in color. It has a soft texture but there seems to be an underlying complexity if tightly wound. Good black cherry fruit. Difficult to evaluate, but given the texture and depth, I suspect in five years (and longer) this will show much better.
