Light golden color confirm’s this 17 year old champagne’s age. Upon opening, the nose is full of citrus and mineral notes. The flavor profile is unique as apple and lemon start with a stark transition to quinine and acid before finishing with caramel apple notes. It was neither bready or yeasty, but it has ample acidity with some mineral harshness offset by caramel richness. This was an intriguing champagne and my first foray into vintage Perrier-Jouet’s Belle Epoque.

Decanted 45 min in a narrow decanter. Vanilla, brioche, lemon verbena, delicious. A tad low on acid, but overall a good champagne at a good drinking age.

As others have said here, the nose is absolutely intoxicating. White and yellow flowers abound with complexity and focus. The palate is likewise excellent with less yeasty and more floral notes, but this lacks the body and spine to be 95+ points. Unclear if it will improve with more time but I would say it is absolutely smoking right now and if you have a bottle you should drink it.
At Between the Trees with dinner.

Somehow critics like to give low scores to Belle-Epoque, I guess writing about Folks like Jerome Prevost is much cooler… I am actually a complete accidental fan of this wine because I never bought it but, whenever it was served to me I loved it - and I had bottles from the 80/90/00s. This one is no different. The nose immediately reminds me of BE. Overt brioche, subtle Chard driven lemon aromas, a bit Taittinger CdC lean / manufactured with the dosage but so sexy. Very similar to the Krug 169 actually. Yes, growers may have riper, more concentrated fruit, but do they have these beguiling aromas? My recommendation is therefore (and I do that myself) buy a case of BE on release when it is relatively cheap. It will very fast start to increase in price. Then you have a great cellar defender that can also be traded in with a profit if needed. Try that with some of the obscure Grower names…

a good wine, though i think it under performed relative to cost. fine bead, slightly golden in colour - visually this seemed quite young. on the nose and the palate, there was honey, some almonds and marzipan. a bit light for my tastes but i suspect that its drinking the bruisers (krug, egly etc) on a semi regular basis that has made me less able or wiing to truly enjoy lighter styled champagnes

The wine is super approachable, I don’t find so much structure in there. I wonder if it has reached a peak, or is the style, but not super impressed, personally.

Needs 2 hours of aeration but then opens up beautifully with fresh citrus, red berries, toast and slight hints of earth and mushrooms. Dosage still at bit too apparent, so would wait still a couple of years to drink but a nice wine in the making

I dont normally get too excited about sparkling wine but this was delicious. round, but crisp green apple and lime with some yeasty bread to round it out and finish it off. wish I would have had this out of a regular wine glass instead of a champagne flute, but it was great nonetheless

(Disgorged 2014, 45% PN, 5% M, 50% CH, 8 gr/l) Maturing nose showing lovely notes of coffee and some butterscotch in a very pleasant way. Palate with smooth yellow apples and notes of mocha before the nice smooth finish. This feels like very accessible and available now, but could develop a bit further. (Best 2017-2027)

New Years Eve 2019 Champagne. Based on community drinking windows and tasting notes this seemed to be in its sweet spot so NYE19 seemed like the right time. More proof the CT community adds tremendous value because this was humming all the right notes.
After some research and asking others I respect, I shunned the champagne flute and went with a new world Pinot glass. Good call by the way! In the glass this was effervescent bubbles with a light gold color. Great nose with lemon zest, green apples, baked peaches, brioche french toast and white flowers. . The palate it was bright with acidity, crisp green apples, more peach, lemon zest, grapefruite, some minerality, and bread dough. It was elegant, creamy, refreshing, lush and provided a medium/long finish.
This is just an outstanding Champagne - elegant but not grandiose with great chardonnay driven finesse - and, as always, Belle Epoque proves why it is the signature offering from Perrier-Jouët. I would drink this now or within the next year or so. Much longer and you may miss out on enjoying it at its peak.

Amazing nose of angel food, yeasty, bread; tasted like a BdB; fine fine bubbles, elegant, touch of bitterness in the finish which was interesting and gave it some character. Akin to a Comtes, but the Comtes is more elegant with a clean long finish. This was very good. At Redbird, from Brian.

Dinner with friends (Grange, Krug, Caymus ++) (Robert's): Light golden in color. A nice amount of tiny bubble and froth. The nose is quite nice with plenty of fruit. Lemons, peaches with just a bit of yeast. On the palate, this is crisp and wakes up the palate. Juicy citrus with peach as well. Deep if still tight. Long finish. Very food friendly. Great way to start.

This tête de cuvée delivers a brisk tiny bead and offers and a core of rose petals, orchard fruits, toasted bread and cardamom. Light-to-medium-bodied, fresh and vibrant, it stays dense on the mid-palate and finishes with impressive length. This iteration of Belle Époque has the structure to show beautifully for several more years. Drink now-2026.

Bread dough, brioche, hints of green apple. Attractive palate with ample acidity and yet some ripe apple; finishing with crisp acidity and yeasty/doughy flavors. This Champage; I would drink now while the fruit is vibrant and alive. Still excellent and a good value as a tete de cuvée.

Bread dough aroma, lime and good supporting acidity, with a mineral base. Tasted right after the 2006 Comtes and this Belle Epoque outclassed that wine for me. Terrific length here of finish and complexity shines very well.

Paul and Ashley's Champagne Party (Paul and Ashely's House): I really like this one, a favorite in the line up. Nose shows raw, uncooked bread dough and an earthy mushroom quality. Excellent balance with a strong mineral foundation. Extremely long finish, 60 seconds plus and terpins / vanillin. Pours a bit foamy but settles down immediately. This probably had a leaner dosage then most of the wines. Very clean and a nice cut.

Pale gold in color, this wine reveals intense aromas of rose petal, orange blossom, honey and burnt toast on the nose. The mouth feel is medium bodied with lovely minerlity, nectarine and vanilla elements. The finish is complex and long with the fruit and acidity in harmonious balance.

Pale yellow, reflections of straw. Apply on the nose - oxidative hints, showing some age. Slightly stale baguette - lighter autolysis than the others, with a hint of sheepsmilk cheese (development).
On the palate: Dosage is on the higher end, feels 10g (actually 9g) Acid is down-the-middle high Finish of wet sourdough, bright green apple, some red apple.
This is really really good. Less fresh than the Gosset. Has finish of odd sheepy aromas - stable, barnyard. Just a touch - adds interest.
Charles Curtis MW - surprised at how powerful this is, given not a lot of houses vintaged 2007.

Has the pedigree and structure of a tete de cuvée. Beautiful round mouth feel with baked apples and a flinty edge. Hard to fault in terms of balance, acidity, mousse, etc but I understand the slightly low ratings as it was a bit simple. Not on par with a Bollinger Grand Annee I recently enjoyed but still very good

This iteration of Belle Epoque offers intense aromatics to go with its brisk, tiny bead. Rose petals, orchard fruits, toasted bread and cardamom are front-and-center on the nose and palate. Light-to-medium-bodied, vibrantly acidic and with a lively yet creamy mouth texture, it is nicely dense in the middle and closes with lengthy verve.
