Lite grön i stilen initialt med grön sparris på näsan. Det vädrades bort snabbt och sedan var det ett rätt tufft och kompakt vin med bra tanniner. Jag har inte druckit så mycket mogen bourgogne och blev väldigt imponerad.

The initial vegetal aromas disappated quickly to show a good balance of red and black fruit, with some power and spice. There is a lively amount of acidity and plenty of bite to the tannins, although the fruit does not seem overly ripe.

At first some barnyard, followed by some leafy greenness that is a sign of the vintage but wasn't overly noticeable. Also notes of black pepper. Fat, fruit-rich and powerful, the vintage is not showing in the mouth. Juicy, great acidity and length. Starting to exhibit secondary notes of earth and hung meat. Very good now though can also keep a few more years.

Took about 2+ hours in the open bottle for this wine to slowly wake up; elegant and rich aromas of cherries, strawberries, roses, black truffles, and wet forest floors in the nose; juicy berries and cherries and dry wood spices in the still rather acidic and tight palate; quite long finish, with berries, cherries, and gripping tannins; overall, 92-93 points at this stage; still quite young and therefore needed more time.

I really expected this to be at the end of its life (the end of my half dozen anyway) but this was very much together. Soft, warm, red fruits. Excellent palate. Nothing harsh. An excellent interpretation of the year. No rush at all to drink if you have any bottles.

Beautiful wine. Light garnet color. Nose seems fully developed but still vibrant. Complex with aromas or forest floor, green peppers, tobacco smoke, sweet and pungent spice, minerals and pinot fruit. Palate is medium bodied, with crisp fruit and slightly unripe tannins (no big problem) and good length on the finish. Not the most elegant Burgundy but it does have complexity and character. 93-94

Audouzed 3hrs. With duck. Sensational, complex nose. Juicy acidity & cherry farmyard palate.Medium weight & medium finish, very morish. Had to share the bottle, sadly. A really lovely companion on a cold & windy Autumn night.

In its youth this was just a little too farmyardy and vegetal for me. However these have now developed into something warm and less pungent and the tannins and acidity remarkably silky. I enjoyed this much more that expected. Perhaps it would go another 5 years but it seems perfect now.

Medium garnet. Untypical nose exhibiting some vegetal aromas like green pepper, also toasted aromas, nutty, but has also some minerality. Very smooth in the mouth with bitter aftrtaste, polished. Not very typical burgundy but a very nice wine, ready to drink but will surely get better in a few years.

Fairly dark ruby. Green peppers, raspberries, roasted nuts, graphite, rubber and spices. Very complex and elegant. Mid-bodied, with soft tanins, nice fruit, high acidity and a long, slightly bitter finish. Very nice, with a long way ahead.

Bouchard 2006 (Washington DC): Another donation from Henriot. Like most tasters, I was pleasantly surprised by the initial ripeness, and juiciness, of this wine, as 2004 was hardly an easy vintage, marked by disease and hail storms. Rather ugly weather in July and August made the 2004 harvest more difficult than the 2006, and yet Bouchard Pere & Fils pulled out a fine effort here, albeit with stemmy aspects. Kevin noted this first, and I did not initially, but further tasting showed it to come to the fore. But mind you, it is like the difference - to me at least - between raw green pepper and roasted green pepper. It was more the latter, and thankfully there was more to it than just that. A rather successful Le Corton, considering all the challenges of the difficult vintage.

I have to suppress my enthusiasm and judge this only in the realm of Burgundy. Diesel, burnt rubber, burnt toast, bracing tannins balanced by robust acidity, with tons of yum. Nose is beyond the basic organic compound describability.

Quite light red colour. Sweat, spice and oak aroma. Sweet and focused entry that opens out to a more savoury, tannic but quite pure mid palate, the sweetness is nicely balanced with a drying but clean finish. The oak shows through in this medium powered wine but is deftly handled. No obvious sap or edges.
