How do the Marchives make such good juice for such a great price? Hands down my favorite chablis producer - the nicest people making really good, classic wines. Nose powerful iodine, oyster shell, lemon, hints of apple cider, hints of floral. palate with great acidity, hints of partial malolactic, intense mineral, suggestive of some lees aging, long mineral driven finish. This is a near great Chablis - hitting well above both price and really the premier cru designation.

This bottle showed a bit awkward, a bit too full. Don't think I'd have guessed Chablis if I hadn't known. Decent for what it is, but give it some time.

55F. Light yellow. Mineral, pear, apple on the nose and stone and apple on the palate. Very fresh. Builds continuously on the palate to pleasing finish. Young but drinking great if not too cold, improved being open a bit.

Pale yellow, hints of green. Aromas of lemongrass, stone fruits, florals, wax, sea spray, and minerals. Moderate body. Although perhaps a bit less complex in mouth, the flavors are pronounced and mirror those found on the nose with a touch of apple character in addition to citrus. Decent acidity keeps everything fresh & lively on the lingering close. Textbook Chablis and outstanding at that, drink now through 2017.
Quick comment: Terrible cork in this bottle.

Accidentally froze the bottle, actually expelled the cork in the process. Replaced the cork and sampled the following day, it appears to have recovered just fine. Nicely mineral Chablis with a lot of material, yet not big or too dense. Should age well. I probably need a lot more 2012 Chablis really.

13% alc...my favorite part about this wine - not overly complex, just very giving and quintessential Chablis...nose of creamy lees, citrus, lemons, lemon curd, some sort of sweet basil....medium-light body, fireworks of lemon citrus action, salinity, creaminess...then the palate comes back around after 4-5 seconds to clean up w citrus. Won't be extremely long lived but at $20 ish this hits the spot with no cost guilt.

Chablis Wine Tasting (Maison Vauron, Auckland, New Zealand): Pale yellow - gold. Less ripe and more traditional in style than the 2012 Dampt premier cru tasted before it. Very oyster shell in style. Tight in the mouth and slightly lacking in authority in the finish, although the wine is nuanced, bright and well modulated. The salty tang and linear texture was a knockout with hapuka fish with a beurre blanc.

Starting to fade. Not as vibrant as I remember. Still nice Lemon Meringue flavors with some minerality.

Grassy, green apples. Dry, with good acid making for good structure and a crisp finish.

Sydney Burgundy Celebration (Sydney, Australia): Citrus aromas of lemon and orange. Gripping acidity, really takes hold of the palate. Needs some time!
