  • I drank the '14 within the last year and it was very good, but this was better. One of the better if not best '12s I have had. The nose was open from the start with fabulous red berry fruit, orange peel, a hint of limestone and violet; very classic Chambolle. The palate was juicy and delicious with very good concentration and lovely length. This continued to open and expand over the evening. Really nice. Ready now, but certainly no rush.

  • Still very tight, but impressive nonetheless.

  • A bit more massive, closed in than the 2013 tasted a few months ago, with darker graphite type minerals, lavender, smoke, cocoa powder, raspberry and blueberry type fruits. A bit hard on entry but opens out to some compelling, long spices. This demands time and attention to open up but remains reluctant over several hours. Very Vogue, as one would imagine, but not quite as impenetrable as vintages seen in the 80’s and 90s. These young vines have some lovely elegance. Needs at least 5 years, preferably 10+.

  • Last in a trio shown by our very generous host: deepest and darkest yet; fruit character leaning more towards blueberry and cassis; fragrant roses, very fine tannins for a young Vogue wine despite the tremendous underlying extract. All three would be great to revisit every 3 years. 92+. Thanks John!!!

  • Cool and stony, with some bright red and black fruits. Good depth and definition. Relatively compact in the mouth. Builds through the palate and really fans out on the finish. Still youthful but just starting to drink well.

  • Francois Millet describes this wine as Musigny in short pants. Very pretty bouquet of rose petals, if you can’t tell this is a Burg then there isn’t much hope. Darker spectrum of fruits, some sous bois. First time trying a Vogüé and certainly can see why everyone says it takes forever to come around. Very reticent but I would be bullish on this.

  • Comte Georges de Vogüe and Domaine Bonneau du Martray tasted with Jean-Luc Pépin: Raspberry liqueur, now wild raspberry, stems, the aroma of expensive Pinot, pink grapefruit. Full bodied, richer than the village wine, more oak. Finishes strongly as well, surging acidity. Feels more balanced than the village wine at this stage. Outstanding but unfair to rate now. N/R

  • Another great vintage of this “mini Musigny”.
Made from young vines, approx 25 years old, in Grand Cru Musigny.
To me this might be one of the best investments for drinking in all of Burgundy.
Loads of bang for the buck.
The nose shows great depth with lovely perfumed flowers, smoky minerals, chalk and ripe and sun warm raspberries and wild strawberries.
On the palate this is silky, yet structured, with very fine & lively acidity, minerals, fat sun ripe raspberries, sweet grapefruit, fine tannins and a long finish with some limestones coming thru.
A tad more tart and less silky, and less complex, than the Musigny Grand Cru, but you can clearly find the affinity between the wines.
    Excellent!
One of my favorite wines out there.

  • France 2013 - Côte d'Or; 4/24/2013-4/26/2013 (Beaune): Tasted at the Domaine. From barrel. Young (<25 years) vines from Musigny. 25 years or young vines from Musigny. Similar malo/sulphur nose as the CM aoc, but again beautiful and pure red fruit underneath with hints of floral, pepper and cinnamon. Beautifully textured on the palate with a silky profile with pure pomegranate and raspberry flavours. A minerally and chalky finish. Will need a decade. (92-94).
