So much better than the last TN from 2 years ago. Structured, Burgundian Côte de Nuit profile - concentrated dark red fruit, good weight, dusty tannins, balanced acidity, and some sous bois. Super value at $18.95 CAD.

Decanted for 1.5 hours before service. Was not expecting much from this wine and was very pleasantly surprised with the results. I can imagine it would be excellent with lamb cooked in a Greek style.
The tasting notes from Penguinoid are spot on and this vintage should be consumed now.

Literally blind. Metal, plum, VA, old dried out mown grass. Light, highish acidity, nice very grippy tannins that travel throughout the palate. Nice, seems Old School European. Perhaps a little old but certainly not over the hill. Good for the money. Probly wouldn't drink again but nice to try a Xino with some age.

Based on this one bottle, the 2008 isn't up to the standards of the 2007 Grande Reserve. Thinner, less structure and a distracting bitter/sour herbal note.

Significant bottle variation compared to the previous bottle and recall experiencing variations in the past. Certainly less enjoyable and disappointing.

@ The Barrel Room M- Ruby. Earthy nose with a little red fruit and a little slightly raisinated black cherry. M+ body. M+ alcohol (13%). M acid. M+ tannins. A bit chewy.

Nose of raspberry, cranberry, candied orange and cinnamon. The palate is really dusty, with bright red fruits dancing on top of mushroom soup, more cinnamon, earth and a twiggy taste. It is quite tannic and a tiny bit tart. It went well with dinner, especially the saltier foods.

Translucent ruby-violet. Heady orange rind and dark cherry. Dry entry, with significant but well-integrated tannins is more than handled by dark cherry, iodine & spice. Ringer for a Nebbiolo at a third of the price! Could use even a few more years of aging.

Pale burgundy colour. Some cherry and graphite aroma. Very earthy taste with mild tannins and some red fruit on finish. Good food wine and not much aftertaste. Paired with stewed pork and mushroom dish.

Solid. Reminiscent of a slightly aged Bordeaux from the left bank. Notes of cherries vanilla pencil shavings on the nose with similar replays on the palate. Medium acidity with a nice tannic spine. Very nice now but will gain some complexity with age.

Great wine, better price. This is one of my "go to" weekday type wines. Lovely cherries and cream aromas. Strong tannins on the palate. Didn't enjoy this as much as recent bottles of this wine; but perhaps that's just me.

Delicious wine, fantastic price. Similar tasting experience to what's already been written here. I've had the 2004 and the 2007 vintages and they have all been consistently good.

Translucent cherry red in colour. Dried cranberry and raspberry on the nose, with earthy/forest floor, aniseed and old oak. Palate is very dry, again with dried cranberry and raspberry, plus maybe dried blood orange peel. A touch of earthy/forest floor. Fine grained drying oaky tannins. A touch of old oak. 13,5% alc.

Transparent ruby. Nice open nose of cherries, tar and violet. Very old world profile with subtle fruit, high acidity and robust tannins. Nicely integrated and balanced. Long finish. I can see the comparison to Barolo. Drinking well now with no decant necessary. Great value.

Ruby-garnet; floral, cherry cola, vanilla, cedar, earth, tobacco; dried cherry, wild strawberry, smokey, medium body, slightly harsh, astringent tannins, ok finish. Some lovely aromas and flavours even though this was closed and disjointed. Hopefully time will balance the youthful acidity and bitter tannins.

The wine was medium ruby in the center, turning light garnet towards the edges. It offered juicy red fruit, strawberry, red cherry, floral notes, rose petal, truffle, liquorice and mushroom on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, marzipan, some liquorice and mushroom, with medium-plus acidity, high, dry tannin and very good length. The medium-bodied, reasonably balanced wine was developed for its age, and seemed Barolo-like in many ways. I kind of liked it. A good, affordable introduction to the Xinomavro grape. Consumed over a period of three days, best on day one. Good QPR.

Translucent, limpid dark cherry color; something not unlike an aged Barolo. Rich and aromatic nose with slightly sweet aromas of dark cherries, red maraschino cherries, some gravelly earth aromas, a little sour cherry and hints of tar and wood. Medium-bodied on the palate with moderately high acidity and quite pronounced, grippy tannins. Flavors of sour cherries, sun-baked stones, tar, earthy minerality, some redcurrants and hints of toasty smoke. Quite grippy, long-lasting finish with slightly developed flavors of sour cherries, redcurrants, tar, ripe dark cherries, smoke and firm tannins.
A really lovely and impressive red wine showing a lot of characteristics that make this wine not unlike a Barolo with a bit of age under its belt. This was served to people blind and not a single one questioned the first guess that this must be an aged Nebbiolo. Very lovely and outright delicious stuff with terrific structure: diggin' this big time. Stunning value at only 19€.

A rather disappointing Grande Reserve. Surprisingly evolved with macerated fruit, mushrooms, truffles, strawberry, leather and tomato sauce. Medium-bodied with soft tannins and balancing acidity. Med+ aftertaste. Fully mature and bordering to overmaturity. Definitely not an off bottle case, since this was drank during a social event where we were served from several bottles with consistent results.

A traditional, old world style wine that is likely not to be appreciated by casual wine drinkers.
Tasted at 18 degrees. 100% in the savoury flavour profile spectrum. Touch of pepper, rose petal and dried prune. Very tannic. Hint of rose petal, coffee grounds and smoked meats mainly in the midpalate that coincide with the python coil of tannins, these continue for a long time into the end. In comparison to the 2009 Naoussa, this seems a bit more tannic and slightly oaky (the coffee grounds).
Looks like this will age for a long time. I like tannic wines so no problems with drinking now, however definitely worth cellaring 6-12 (maybe more) to see how these develop.

Decanted ca one hour. On the nose aromas of tar and dark fruit. Medium bodied palate, very tannic and acidic, delivering subtle flavors of dark fruit, prunes, licorice and tar with a very dusty finish. Tight and poised. In a blind tasting this could go for a young nebbiolo. Needs many years but quite delicious already.

So, this is similar to my 2007 tasting note, and would agree and just ditto the note below from CCARTER.
Good price ~ 20 CAN - and will hold in cellar for a few more years still (?2018). Give it a try!
