Served from double magnum. The color was a light rust, with some cloudiness. The wine had a good bit of alcohol heat that masked much of the flavors, but the plum fruit is still there underneath. There is only a medium sweetness at this point. The wine had been double decanted but I don't know how far in advance. Perhaps more air was necessary? Still very good with the chocolate ganache dessert.

IWFSC 764th Dinner (Custom House Tavern, Chicago, IL): Another example of classic port, good color, amber tint, ruby. delicat nose of sweet red currants, intensely and seductively flavored and rich in the mouth. A great way to end the evening.

Ruby, amber tint. Delicate nose of sweet red currents, marzipan, orange peel, white chocolate. Intensely flavored and rich in the mouth, with some bitterness on the velvety finish, but very nicely balanced. Really a lovely bottle, at its peak now.

Roy Hersh Offline (St. John, London): Nice light-mid cherrywood. Slutty attack, noticable alcohol, some thinness and a hint of VA, but spreads on the palate, very sweet toffee and walnut notes, exceptional.

color of old brick with caramel around the edge. Cherry nose with a touch of sherry and tobacco. Long finish, but to me the alcohol stood out a little. Very good. This is the oldest wine I have tasted.

Seattle Tasting Group does Italians and six decades of Porto hosted by Roy Hersh (Bellevue, WA, USA): The color here is still quite dark with a lot of brown but a solid rim, slightly cloudy in the glass. I found the nose on this to be slightly dusty and musty with a strong scent of toffee. On the palate this showed coffee, roasted nuts, and caramel. The wine was gorgeously balanced and silky with a very long finish. This is a beautiful port that is at peak and seems to be have plenty of time ahead.

second wine of the second flight. Again, similiar to the Warre with its depth and dark color.
