Dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & cassis with some earthy/dusty notes, mocha, tar, leather, spices & herbs & oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-deep bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but at 23 years of age, it is at or close to its peak of development. An indicative blend of Grenache, Carignan & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Superb - slow ox 30+ minutes. Charred oak and light strawberry on the nose with some smoke. Energetic black raspberry fruit on the fleshy palate with plums and some kirsch liqueur. Chewy tannins on the dark berry flavors and a strong note of candied licorice. Rich, round and sweet on the dark berry finish. Interestingly, four blind tasters thought this was a 10-15 year old Cabernet!. Amazing QPR!!

There was a hint of something wild in this wine... the open seas, a saltiness and energy that suggests a sweaty, unwashed hunting or fishing trip, roasting fresh-killed meats over an open fire, the great outdoors... hints of wild tart grapes and strawberries... dark cherries... birch bark... menthol... slight smokiness, a chewy tannic quality that suggests further aging is possible, desirable, necessary? Whatever. It’s one of those wines that takes you places. Drink this with a loved one, then go indulge fantasies.

Excellent. Cork a little saturated. Decanted - light but chunky sediment. Took a while to open up. Restrained earthy, floral nose. Very clear, crisp, dark garnet color. Palate has nice mix of mineral and dark fruits (cassis, cherry, raspberry), with some black licorice, and just a touch of smoke and a little oak. Good structure and acidity. Tannins are resolved. Drinking great now but drink remaining by 2017.

Though most of the elements of the wine are well balanced, the hardness of the minerals in this is beginning to detract a little. I generally like the mineral streak in many Priorat wines, but there is a point where it can be too much. If you really love that, you may mentally add a few points to my score. The wine is still bright and alive, and in no danger of falling apart soon.

OK, the cork was stuck and needed the osso for removal. As for the wine, at first taste it seemed tight with dark fruit and earthy notes on the nose and palette. My honey suggested decanting, and as dinner progressed the wine opened up beautifully as the fruit intensified and the finish lengthened. A nice choice for Open that Bottle!

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of black pepper, currants, plums and black cherries. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and plums. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink now. Really drinking above it's pay grade at the moment.

Red and black fruit. Nose has red cherry and blackberry with spice and a bit of leather. Palate is rich with a full bodied wine and firm, but fine, tannins. Alcohol and acidity are medium while the finish is very long. Mid-palate is fantastic. Red cherry, chocolate, vanilla, wet stone, blackberry, nutmeg, leather, and a toast make up the flavor profile. Startlingly youthful... and fantastic with a big and varied meal.
Note from two hours later... as this wine breathes, there are beautiful notes of savory, herbs, kirsch, and, laziness that start to come out. The wine is even more mouthcoating. Fantastic!

Stewed red fruits, cherry liqueur, funk, and mushroom on the nose. Chocolate covered cherries, raspberry, and spice on the palate with some heat showing on the back end. Finishes with medium persistence. Age seems to have put this in a good spot, it's still plenty big but the tannins have mellowed nicely. Served just below room temp, popped and poured, then consumed over two hours.

Was worried about this upon opening as the top of cork was black from seepage. The initial funky nose blew off after 15 minutes or so to reveal an earthy, leathery nose with hints of raisin and dark red fruit. The dry gripping tannins were impressive and made me wish I were having this with food. Seems to have much life left in it, just hope the next cork is good.

Nose suggests rich earth, preserved fruits and balanced oak. Man, this is a gorgeous nose after 1 hour decant. Tannins are smooth, but a bit of prickly acidity amplified by the high alcohol. Once those sensations cool a bit, this is a warm mouthful of currant, blackberry, leather and mint with an earthy finish. Fan.

Very disapointing considering the positive reviews from the PA community. Thought it was good with sour cherries and a touch of earth, but certainly not exceptional. It opened a little and maybe it just needed more time. I have one more, but I don't think I will be buying more.

Really enjoying this wine, even after being open 4-5 hours. Aroma's of red and dark fruit with leather, tobacco, I could sniff all day. Lots of Plum, earthiness, leather flavors on the palate, smooth body but gripping on the finish which lingers. Drinking very nice right now but could still hold.

This is really good. Aromas of leather, tobacco, dark red fruit, and a little raisin. Similar flavors on the medium to full bodied palate with each flavor having it's own intensity and they all just blend together so well. Dry finish with some gripping tannins. This may still go for another few years.

Dense, viscus with a sweet pruney middle, some dark coffee notes, and an acidic finish. Fruit forward, but muscular and well contained in its structure. Mature, lush, expansive, and hot. This wine is a little big for me. Probably not getting any better. Well put together. Still a little syrupy and thick, though the gritty tannins have resolved. B/B-

Deep fruit, intense minerality, and oak treatment that flirts with being overdone without stepping over the line. Very recognizably Priorat, pretty ripe and oaky but okay by me. In a really nice place right now. 92+

Nice enough, but the whole experience didn't quite come together. Blend of Grenache 55%, Carignan 35%, and Cabernet Sauvignon 10%. Hard to put my finger on what the character of the wine was. Just didn't seem fully integrated. Not an unpleasant wine but it didn't sing either. Let it sit for a few more years?

A very nice wine ... great nose of ripe, dark fruits, sweet floral notes and classic Priorat dark mineral. The wine was full and firm with a velvety grip to the tannins. There were some nice smoke and roasted notes that played well with the fruit. This wine is still quite youthful ... drink 5-10 years.

A big wine with much complexity. Not all of the tastes are pleasant. Lots of fruit, oak, and tannin. For me it never came together, didn't integrate. Drunk over four days and did improve over this time. Perhaps needs more age. Bottle did have a small sediment.

Palm Bays Tasting: You could use this wine in a classroom to explain an explosive nose. I mean it was unreal. The palate was still huge, young, and tough, but had a lot going on. Palm Bay Imports (Little Italy-Anchorage): WOW. Not too sure where this one fits in the tasting, and/or why its being tasted in the order that it is, but I am 100% okay with tasting this wine! Huge, inky, black, extracted fruits. Loads and loads of tannin and oak on the palate. I'll set this one aside for a while. After opening up, leather, coffee, tobacco leaves, dried bing cherries, damp earth all come forward allowing for one of the most complex wines of the night. The tannins are subdued and become dusty and fine grained. This allowing for an amazing texture. This wine is super young and will continue to evolve for 10 years at least.

Light rasbery color. Nose that had a grape soda/candy aspect to it, very fake fruit. Smooth on the pallet with hits of sugary grape soda. Light but firm tannins. To be fair not my style but intriguing nonetheless. Not a great value.

On the nose a meaty smoky pungency married to roasted earth and beautiful rich blueberry and blackberry all up against a wall of slate and iron. Full bodied with mouth coating sweet tannins and freshness to the fruit. A quite long finish of black fruits, mildly chalky tannins and hints of anise. Unmistakably a priorato with massive minerality, smoke and blueberries. Also a very big wine that is still quite young. 90+ for drinking now with a lot of upside in the coming 5-10 years.

Bottle showed signs of past seepage, with a pushed cork.
Dark fruit with sweet vanilla. Nice balance. Espresso, tobacco, lots of dark notes. Smooth and floral. Some gritty oaky sweet tannins. Sweet and menthol. Not heavy. Will get better if it resolves some. Thick, somewhat syrupy quality holds it back from a higher score. Nice, though. Pretty. B

Pretty.

Gift from Cesar. After reafing Jancis Robinson, on Carignan, Ellen didn't care for it. I liked it. Slightly deep brooding wine.
