Nice bright acidity, medium body. Earthy flavors in the opening, with wood, plum, pomegranate, cranberry. Very long finish that goes into dark cola and root and herb flavors. Probably has years to go, but this was my last bottle.

My mindset was to hate this, because of the high alcohol. But, it does not show up on the palate. So I am more pleasantly surprised. Nice cherry (surprise) fruit, tannins still on the harsh side, some decent acidity. All in all, a very decent new world syrah.

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over the next 90 minutes. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of violets, camphor, plums, currants and black berries. Flavors of berries and cherries with a hint of mint on the finish. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold. I'd drink. 90?

Deep ruby red color, the nose shows a little too much alcohol as opposed to fruit, the wine though has nice fruit but is a bit crisp and has a lot of spice. Drinking nicely but finish is not as long as some of the other RC that I have drunk.

Very fruit forward - raspberry liqueur, cherry and a little plum - with added notes of menthol, stony earth and a touch of caramel. Very silky in the mouth, with round black fruits and mossy earth. A zingy acidity on the finish of excellent length. A wine of obvious quality but rather banal. Lacks Syrah typicity and character.

Popped and poured. A bit subdued at the start but it developed nicely with more fruit. Drank this side by side with a 2005 Timbervine that had been decanted for 4 hours. That showed better, so decant it first. Nicve mouth feel, dark color, smooth drink, moderate to long finish.

This is a really nice syrah, that in the end for me just didnt have enough interesting going on. Its Vanilla good. This has just started to show a touch of secondary character on the palate although overall the wine is still very plush and primary. With the Cherry Camp name of course I was expecting cherry, but the fruit seemed heavier that the brightness I associate with that. Good wine that would no doubt be a crowd pleaser.

I was disappointed. Not a bad wine, but I expected more. Balance was good but fruit was limited and it just didn't rock my world. Popped, decanted and poured, which may have been the problem, but it did not develop a lot over an hour. Half the bottle is left and maybe it will open up more today. There was cherry fruit and pepper spice justifying the low end of very good, but that's it. Everyone else on Cellartracker seems to consistently like this wine, so maybe it will open up today and I will think better of it.

Very nice Syrah ... I'm missing a bit of the white pepper that's usually present, but it is, after all, a California style wine. Alcohol is high, but the wine handles it well -- no heat on the palate. However, I have to say that this wine is definitely a bit overpriced. Having said that, it's a well made wine that won't disappoint.

Cherry cobbler on the nose. Good smooth tannin and acidity. Hints of roasted game. Red licorice. Flashes of mint and salami. Black pepper. Purple-red in the glass. Hints of cocoa. Very good fruit and elegant but slightly underwhelming. Gradually becoming smokier and more blackberry emerging. Day 2 - Still silky tannins with more plum and meaty tones in the forefront.

Very dark; initially has some charred aromas. Opens to show dark fruit, balanced, good acidity, tannins starting to meld. But overall, while very well made, this is somewhat unexciting (and, to my mind, overpriced). Although I opened it too soon, I'm not so sure that given time it will develop the complexity I would want.

Aroma: Subtle smoky, leathery, tobacco bouquet. Very faint compared to most of the Syrah I have tried.
Flavor: Spicy, woodsy, meaty on the palate at first; evolved into a black cherry, blackberry, roast meat, and spicy/smoky melange of taste that was quite good.
General impression: Very nice! My wife liked it, and that's extremely rare for a non-Pinot. Worth buying again; needed 60 minutes in the decanter.

dark purple in color with a little bit of rose color around the edges. right after i pulled the cork this was a little tart. after about 40 minutes the wine lost that tart aspect and gain some fuller dark cherry fruit. There was some leather, meat and significant lavendar (and brownish spice as well). ended up with a nice nose too.

Dark magenta in color. This wine took a full 2 hours in the decanter to reveal itself. Upon opening, suprisingly young and primary. With air, lots of spicy blue and black berries and some brown sugar on the nose. Smooth on the attack but somewhat lacking in depth and dimension on the palate. Tannins are still very firm and I pick up heat both in the nose and on the finish. Although this wine is approachable (and other CT note suggest the wine is ready), I believe it needs several years to smooth out. For me, onn this night, I'm not sure if the problem was drinking this wine before its time or if this wine is just not for me.

Decanted 30 min, drank over 3hours. Intoxicating nose. Brown Sugar, Maple syrup, Smoked Meat, Rasberries, Cherry Cobbler, and floral notes. There are a lot of scents jammed into this bottle! Concentrated palate featuring rasberries and cherries. Really nice balance and structure -- for its size and complexity its almost graceful on the palate giving a sense of being lighter than it is. Also makes it pretty food friendly. Some earthy almost Pinot-like characteristics coming into play on the back end. Also very fine tannins waving through on the lengthy finish. Another winner from Winemaker Sussman -- who seems to have my number (and credit card!) Drinking wonderfully now, but I think this is headed upward in time 93+

There is something very unique about this wine. Aromatic nose of spice, floral and candied cherries. Smooth mouthfeel with tastes of licoice, strong black fruits , pepper with a touch of smoke. Decanted and poured. Medium to full-bodied wine that is dark magenta in color. On the nose, dark fruit, tar, and floral notes. On the palate, blueberries, black raspberries, licorice, and light vanilla on the finish. This wine has a strident, fine-tuned structure, and it took a good two hours to really open up and begin to strut. There was just a wisp of heat on the very long 40-second finish.

Nose of violets and cherries. Nice palate feel, opened up over 3 hours. Right off the bat, like a mouthful of bing cherries, with moderate tannins. More of an integrated mouthfeel, though slightly more sour cherry after a few hours. I'll probably wait 6 months or so for the next bottle. Great!

Dark ruby color. A nose of cherry pastille, flowers and sweet bacon fat. On the palate it disappointed with a lack of texture and volume. The limited fruit that showed in the mouth faded over a couple of hours. Maybe it needs a few years to fill out or a slightly off bottle?

Open with a flight of two other zins - this was the only syrah. This was opened last. Nice deep purple - cherries on the nose (no surprise here!), medium-bodied and fruit forward with a nice lingering finish. Probably suffering from palate fatigue at this point since it had more to give but the descriptions escape me. Definitely ready to drink!

Drinkig nciely, but I don't find anything here to be greatly excited about. Oh, I like the wine (it has am okay nose, a good mouthfeel, a decent but not great length, and good, spicy fruit) but I don't find anything here that sticks out at me and says "I am here to be drunk"!

Drinking very well now. Good balance between acid and cherry fruit that nicely coats the palate

Great!

this was one fruit bomb. although to be fair it had alot of structure that surfaced over a 2 hour period. give this one 3-5 years to round out.

This was enjoyed over a four day period. Strong stucture of oak (too strong at this time). Layers of fruit, but not in balance yet. Contrary to other obversations, I will wait at least a year, maybe two before I open another bottle.
