A Sauvignon Blanc that fits its type like a square peg in a square hole - tart and edgy acidity, gooseberry and lime fruit, astringent, lean, and mouth cleansing. What you do not get is any softness, caressing texture, or grassiness. A very unevolved and sturdy wine, with no change from being opened for 3 days or being 4 years old.

Not nearly as much complexity and structure as the Chailloux bottle I tried recently. It has slightly less acidity, a bit of a green asparagus note, and a slight reductive kind of tinned lychee and passionfruit aroma about it. The palate has a more generous texture, a touch soapy, with notes of lemon rind, guava, and it's even a little creamy and has a lees-y sort of texture to the finish. Ok for the price, but I'd spring for the Chailloux, every time.

Claude Riffault's Sancerre Les Boucauds 2013 is sourced from old vines grown in clay and limestone rich soil. Half of the wine is vinified in stainless steel, the other half in oak, and the results are rather spectacular. Les Boucauds is one of the more intense Sancerre's I've tasted, the nose fairly explodes with star fruit, guava, mango, and ripe nectarine. Lean and racy on the palate, with sleek tension, staggering acidity and length accompanied by a full range of complex fruit notes and chalk.

Classic nose of concentrated bright lemon citrus, lemon curd and minerality. Extracted and open on the palate with layers of lemon curd, a slight green tinge that's lemongrass like and a stony minerality. Finishes with a touch of heat.

Intensely grapefruity with a variety of tropical notes backing it up, chalky and driven on the palate with nice energy. Excellent for an entry level, but it's priced equal to a lot of other people's top wines and at that price it's just solid.

Asparagus, green asparagus. And just a touch of Raspberries in whole cream vanilla ice cream. High tart acidity, with light fruit. Decent length. This is to young and at the moment unbalanced.

Frisk, godt balansert syre, mineralsk, lime, eple og asparges. God lengde. Som alltid topp fra Riffault
