The best part was the first few seconds when a massive wave of sweet strawberry blew out of the glass. Afterwards, a modest concentration of soft red fruit and citrus was enjoyable but not inspiring. Extraordinary rose copper color though and a nice perlage and couronne. Short finish. Started to fade after a half hour or so. Doubt it will evolve into something more interesting.

Dom Perignon P2/P3 Dinner (New York City): Another level against the 95 blancs as well as the 96 rose. Very classy stuff. It is a velvet hammer with an exotic magnetism you cannot escape. A wonderful achievement.

DP Extravaganza! (Friend's place): Again the clear winner of the flight. This was really something. It's young and really one shouldn't be drinking it now but so it goes. This was bought directly from the estate so as fresh as it can be. Lots of berries and young and bright.

2012 typical nose after oyster shell, toast, refreshing acidity, citrus, well drinkable at the moment. Dosage between 4-6g/L. I preferred against 2010. 96
2010 more reluctant compared to 2012, some exotic fruits, makes fun to drink it now. Not the potential as 2008. 93
2008 Still great to drink. Lush, exotic fruits, sea breeze, balanced, powerful, still fresh. Roasted almonds, salted caramell. 98
P2 2003 Feels broader than the P2 2002, less acidity, lots of mango and pineapple, less oyster shell than 2002. 94
P2 2002 more acidity than 2003, but my problem with this wine, it has an unnecessary high dosage. 95
P2 1998 More complex and structured than 2002 at the moment, some nice honey notes to give depth and creamieness. 96
Rose 2008 The nose is full of red berries and red apples, some black currant. A sublime champagne which will be released next week. Raspberry sirup but still elegant and powerful. 97
Rose 2006 For a 2006 good but no chance against 2008. Maybe a hint too alcoholic and the finish too short. 94
P2 Rose 1995 PN nose, comparable to a Musigny, smoky, flinty, balanced, at least 10 more years. 97
P3 1992 Unbelievable fresh, toasty, citric and just a touch of rostaed aromas. Nice 1992. 96

This particular bottle at least lacked flair, complexity and verve. It’s decent mature Rosé yet it cannot be representative. Not close to the wonderful ‘96 version but I won’t write it off until I try it again.

This is considerably fresher than the regular disgorgement, which is pretty normal for the P2 and P3. There's a really nice, pure red berry fruit profile that has plenty of nuance. It's not nearly as large-scaled, either in fruit profile or body, as the recent vintages of Dom Rose, and has a more feminine styling and elegance. I expect I'll like this even more in a couple of years, but delightful now.

Spectacular! Beautiful salmon pink very floral upon opening. Very elegant lady, firm mouth feel, consistent pressure throughout but lost the nose. Still flavorful. Probably my favorite rose to date.

Best bottle - X-Mas Edition (Restaurant 5, Stuttgart): Glass: Zalto Burgundy I thought, that the Krug was on top of the food chain, but I was so wrong! Fantastic salmon color. The nose was spectacular right after pouring: Extremely complex and intense, great mixture of clean red fruit, mineral notes, lactic notes, autolytic notes. All perfectly woven into one single, deep stream of scent. Only downside: The beautiful perfume vanishes astonishingly quickly after a few minutes. On the palate an amazing mouthfeel: Pressure without end, tension, perfect acidity, fantastic red fruit and mineral notes. Very elegant, very long. A really awesome Champagne and the best I have ever drunk so far. 96-97+

Floral, expressive wine. More pinot-forward spice notes, with a classic cherry-vanilla profile. Medium bodied, but very graceful on the palate. Delicious.

A complete wine. Intense red fruits with nice florals and subtle minerality. Extremely well balanced and open for business. Still young and vigorous. Perhaps not as staggering as the 96 version, but every bit as tasty now, and better integrated. Very, very nice.

Finally, I know what a real Brut Rosé Champagne tastes like. Stunning crystal rose petals floating in cranberry hard candy, with chalky mineral love and energy, so delicate, round and ethereal perfect bliss.
This is a stunning, special wine. Pale pink color. It's hard to describe the levels of complexity mixed with an uncanny freshness for a 21-year-old wine. Crisp, red fruit, almost the fruit profile of a still red wine, intermingled with the fresh, brioche, citrus, and mineral characteristics of Champagne. Balanced, impeccable layers of flavor, and a finish that glides along as effortlessly as everything else. P2 rose for the win. A+

Hawaiian Escape; 11/19/2016-11/26/2016 (Kuki'o): A lot of orange zest and citrus on the nose. Some strawberry coming through. Sort of copper in color. Somewhat tart on the palate. Certainly mature for something that is marketed as 'the peak of energy'.

Light Salmon color, extremely fresh, good acidity and luscious bubbles filled the mouth, long finish, tart cherry and green strawberry. Such a baby. Visit in 2 years or if the occasion calls for another.

An Evening with Francois Audouze (67 Pall Mall): Richard Geoffroy brought a bottle of this along and it was wonderful to compare. Very young and fresh with a nose of raspberry, apple, brioche and flowers. Delicate light palate with a lovely finish.

Dom Perignon Rose Dinner (Momotaro - Chicago, IL): Another sizzling bottle. The vintage sits in the shadow of 1996, but there's a ton to love here. This brings structure, liveliness, and depth alongside some gorgeous funky/earthy tones on the finish. This continues to be a killer bottle of champagne - seek it out.

Still bright pink and as effervescent as ever in the glass. A wonderful nose of brioche and yeast but with interesting green notes like asparagus in the background. Very dry on the palate with tart strawberry and raspberry. Creamy strawberry. Lacking in minerality. Still delicious and a lot of fun to drink.

Solid nose with red fruits and dry yeast but the palate fell somewhat flat for me. A rather short finish with an odd tinge of bitterness at the end. Did not measure up to the '02 rose served alongside. Paired with duck. 91-92

Lots of good funk on the nose. Some mushroom, lots of cherry and cranberry, and some soft florals. Palate was gorgeous; lots of tension with deep, sweet red fruits, nice minerality and a healthy dose of DP breadiness. A real treat.

A Memorable Seaside Dinner in Corsica (Porticcio, Corsica): I have to confess I feel a bit overmatched in trying to review this wine, having had so little experience with aged champagne of this quality. That said, if this is not at peak I will be very impressed if I have the good fortune to follow it over time. Pale, pink salmon in appearance, with tight bubbles and compelling bouquet. Clean and pure on the palate, with no hints of oxidation, impressive minerality and extraordinary persistence.

Dom Perignon at Les Nomades (Les Nomades Chicago): Great deep pink color, strong nose yet light and full fill on the front and back palate. Wow, 20 years old and 30 to go. Cellar worthy and yet drinking now. The food made the wine really jump out of the glass. Lovely.
