Nose is fullish with citrus-y blood orange, childrens' chewable aspirin and violets in the background. Initial palate is solid - big, but not overindulgent, with good, clean full-bodied fruit coupled with pumpkin pie spices. The middle palate gets a little chalky and stemmy. The back palate leans more toward the midpalate than the inital palate. The finish is a little clunky and monolithic. All-in-all a decent bottle.

Oh my word, this is a beautiful wine, absolutely sensational drinking now. A mature nose of cloves, earth, spice, deep funk, and more funk. On the palate medium to full-bodied, with beautiful dark cherry fruit, a streak of mineral, an earthy finish, and just totally seductive and sensual.

I bought the '04 vintage because I really liked the 2003. This was a disappointment. At first sip I could not even tell if it was a Pinot. Was it a cheap Shiraz? The taste was a bit of Brett and too much toasted oak with very little fruit. At times it was very tart and sour.

Deep cranberry garnet in color. Lucious pomegranate, cassis and fine spice on the nose. Notes of earth lead to a rich, smooth texture of dark red fruit. Full-bodied and a nice long finish make this wine a winner.

Color: Dark ruby Nose: None Taste: Cedar chips, earth and not fruit Finish: A taste that came into the finish that no one could figure out what it was. Evaluation: A strange taste into the finish that was not pleasant. 77 points

Deep garnet-crimson, opaque, sediment; vanilla, black cherries, earth, violets; sour cherry, spicy oak, velvety, light-medium body, tart acidity, lingering finish. Nice earthiness but a bit unbalanced by too much oak. I'm still liking California pinots more. Enjoyed at Bacchus.

Barnyard notes are present throughout this Pinot. Plenty of earth, manure, and red fruit on the nose. Palate contained flavors of berries, plum, sour cherry, and sweet leather. Long finish, plenty of leather, earth, and barnyard. The acidity and sour flavors seemed a bit out of balance creating an off-tasting wine. Disappointing. Low QPR.

Just a wonderful Oregon wine that has deep color and flavor. This Pinot possesses plump ripe berry flavors and deep and rich flavor. Dark black plum flavors and a long lingering finish. A great wine, well made and enjoyed!

No barnyard/brett in my bottle. This is one of the heavier Pinots I've had. Pleasantly spicy, smooth but very noticeable tannins. Good nose, good fruit. Glad I got one of the good bottles!

This bottle did not show well at all. Cedary green sense to the tannins - seems under ripe. also, it's as if there is syrah blended in - it has a roasted quality to it, the mouthfeel of a heavier wine than a pinot. almost unpleasant.

Dark cherry color-darker than I would have otherwise expected. Very pretty on first impression-rich berry fruit and a spicy kick. Got a little reticent rather than opening up with air. Tight and spicy, will easily drink well for a few years.

Started off a wonderful wine-filled Friday night with this gem from Oregon. Full, ripe and rich are some of the adjectives for this wine. It is deep and dark in color yet exudes a soft, and vevelty mouthfeel. Opulent and ripe dark fruit throughout.

Dark raspberry color, black cherry fruit and a slight bit of oak on the nose. Acidity is a bit high right from the bottle (similar to many French Rhones), almost zinfindel-like. Some earth, with spice notes of white pepper and maybe cinnamon. This wine really opened up beautifully after a few hours of air and the acidity wasn't as sharp.
Oregon is sure turning out some great wine! http://www.willamettewines.com/index.shtml

The ill-reputed funkiness of possibly Brett was showing itself initially but seemed to blow off by the last glass. By the end it was showing true Oregon Pinot style, but still a little obtrusive for my tastes. It's either too young yet or the winery missed the mark on this vintage. No 70-something pointer as described by WS, but no 91 or even 89 as described by others...at least not right now.

Drank alongside a Baileyana 2004 which is much more approachable and fruity. The Van Duzer needed some time to blow off the funky barnyard nose, but developed wonderfully as the night progressed, exhibiting subtle fruit alongside flint, earth and spicy flavors. Give it time to open up and it's a very good pinot.

Tasted October 6, 2006 at home. Opened and splash decanted about 30 minutes before serving in a Spiegelau Authentis Balloon Magnum glass. Ruby color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of bright red cherries with just a little barnyard. Flavors of tart red cherries dominate with a slight, unpleasant metallic flavor underneath. PURPLE got some smoky, wild blueberries on the nose and ripe blueberries on the palate. Tart/tangy acidity is completely out of balance. All other components such as tannin are fine. Based on my local retail price of $23.95 I’d still say the value here is unacceptable when you can buy 2004 Domaine Coteau at the same price point.

A weekend in Seaside, OR; 9/30/2006-10/1/2006: Nose that was earthy and woody with some barnyard. The flavors were a big let down compared to the nose. Pretty light fruit flavors and some bitterness. Very little mouthfeel and a short finish. Even with the bitterness, this wine was still pleasant and very easy to drink. This was the first bottle of the evening, and we popped and poured it. It didn't get much air time from start to finish before the group finished it.

Went to the winery about a month ago. Loved this wine from the minute I smelled it. Lots of black cherry on the noise. Some spice with lots of cherry in the mouth. Tannins were perfect. I bet the bottle had been opened a few hours before I tryed it. Will leave them alone for a few more years.

decanted for almost 2 hours. tanslucent ruby with scents of flowers and dark berries. velvety smooth mouth feel. dark fruits on the palate with some earthiness and a bit of red fruit too. a lovely wine, well balanced and somewhat austere in the burgundian style. not all that complex though, but a good value.

Very fine. Also came at the end of a long night....rich, earthy nose and backbone to match. Not nearly as ripe as the '03 (of course). Drinking very well right now. Good balance of acidity, fruit and tannins.

Wines of the Pacific NW! (Farpointe Cellar): This Pinot was very disappointing. The nose was pretty nice. It had some cherrry and strawberry, mixed with a bit of vanilla and forest floor. The palate, on the other hand, was full of bitter cherry that overwhelmed everything else. On top of that, it didn't have that silky mouthfeel that you would expect. It was drinkable, but that was about all I can say.

What an excellent wine from Oregon. This Pinot exhibits nice dark fruit, rich flavor and a soft but full mouthfeel. It has a distinctive label and more distinctive contents. A good value for the outstanding quality within. I have sourced some additional bottles of this due to its outstanding quality and drinkability.

A lovely wine that opened up two hours. Undertones of black cherry followed by blackberry. Jacqui noted a finish of vanilla. We hated to finish the bottle as starting after two hours the wine was magical. This will be a hard one to cellar but next time we open and decant it two hours before starting to drink it. Simply outstanding.
