Lovely deep garnet "robe" in glass. Nice bouquet. Good fruit on palate with dusty tannins - Rutherford Dust! Very stylish and pretty much as expected. Not a fruit bomb but rather claret like. A very good middle of the road BV cabernet. 14.2 % alcohol.

Pretty delicious on day 3, opened up with smooth tannins and creamy dark chocolate/mocha dusted currants and cherries. Not a show stopper but elegant and in a nice place with a touch of spice and mint on a full finish.

Decanted 2 hrs. some coarse, some fine sediment. Napa floor fruit. Soft nose, fruit forward with a hint of cinnamon dominant baking spice (very nice). Rich, round and well structured but without backing tannin. Good to go now and should hold a few years. Nice effort (as usual) from BV.

Have enjoyed this classic in several vintages over many years, this rendition is ringing more true to form with this 4th bottle, decanted 2+ hours and served at cellar temp. Full of luscious dark red berry fruits, balanced oak toast, and hints of leather with that ethereal streak of lovely earthy powdery 'dust' almost like crushed bitter dark chocolate cocoa tannins. Firmly into its prime drinking window and should coast 2 - 3 more years as it still has weight and structure to suggest staying power.

97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec 3 Hr. (accidental) Double decant, some sediment. Black center, deep purple edge. Nose of 'fresh laundry', cherry cough syrup, blackberry, currants, green pepper, a bit of perfume. Tannins resolved at first, came back later, balanced, fruity - cherry, black currents, oak. Med. Finish. A very good BV Rutherford with the stuff to last for a few more years at least.

Nose: Same dusty, perfumy red fruited aromas as last bottle (notes on 4/11/16). Palate: Soft tannins and red currant abound with cherries and a medium length, elegant finish. Last bottle of this and it was fantastic on a pop and pour basis. Wish I had a few more bottles. Insane QPR at only $18/bottle on sale.

Wasn't overly impressed with this wine upon opening the bottle, just sort of meh. Filtering through a TriBella helped immensely. Tasted dark black and red fruit, and black pepper. On it's own was perfectly acceptable, but really perked up with our dishes with garlic.

Holding up like a Rutherford champ. This BV has been one of our favorites for couple decades always consistently good QPR. Last bottle of this 12' though so need to start looking for some more or newer vintages. Any suggestions on recent good vintages of this juice?

I have a lot of good memories associated with this wine, and I love it for that. This is some solid juice from an iconic producer that exhibits some of the lovely characteristics of a highly reputable AVA. Integrated oak and spices with dark berries and cocoa. A solid, crowd-pleasing, approachable, well-priced Rutherford Cab

BV was my first case purchase back in early 80's . Has been a great QPR wine enjoyed since. Back then it was their Beau Tour but love the Rutherford bottlings over the years. Still have a couple mid 80's Beau Tours and have been TOTALLY surprised how they have held up in good storage after all these years. Probably one of my wife and I all time favorites for everyday QPR Cali Cab

I've had 2 of these recently and was really happy. It's no Latour, but its consistently a good wine from year to year. Balance leads towards the fruit but it's no fruit bomb. Plenty of life left.
Decent wine. Not gonna complain. It is very standard with no hard edges. Not as full as I would like it to be but it is definitely standard. Standard Napa cab is the best way that I can put it.

Nose: Very pretty aromas of floral red fruits, dust, and loamy minerals. Just a really nice nose. Palate: Great right out of the gate on a Pnp with the red fruits, herbs, and minerals showing beautifully and balanced by very ample acidity. This 2012 is just now showing super solid. Too bad I only have 1 left, but plenty of 2013's and thus far they are even better. Cannot say enough positives for this $18-19 Cab (good sale price). Our weekday drinker in this house.

In three words: muted, closed, young. That being said, this was elegant looking as it poured into the decanter. Bright, clear ruby coloring. Red fruits show through, medium body and finish, but it took 2+ hours for things to open and shake loose. The potential is there, but I'll give the next bottle another year.

Kind of underwhelming. On the nose there is promise with a nice earthy note. But the fruit forward quickly fades with no finish to speak of. All in all, it's kind of weak. I'll keep the second bottle for friends that are not ready for a real Cab.

Slight green note in the mid-palate but not in an off putting way. Finish: Broad and persistent with dark fruit.

Balanced fruit forward "go to" drinking wine. Not the Rutherford of old which was more akin to a baby BV Latour, and thankfully nothing like the thin and flat BV Napa bottling.

A solid ~$20 mass produced Napa Cab. Tastes like a $20 Napa Cab, fairly straight forward, simple, nothing too fancy, but solid. It's a bit too fruit forward for me. I like the Franciscan Estate much better, for the same price point.

Notes on day 2. Juicy, fresh with tart cherry and a little spice. I don't get much Rutherford dustiness on the palate. A solid adn well-made Napa Cab, though not unlike many other $20 Napa cabs out there.

An almost weightlessness in the mouth but with a nice and long finish. Still a bit hot, only slightly though, which should subside with a bit more time in the bottle. Good wine though, would be interested to try this in a couple of years.

45 minute decant (mag decanter). Nose: Fresh, perfumed cherries with traces of Rutherford dust. Palate: The dark cherries show with soft tannins, a little spice, and good minerality. Solid QPR play from WTSO. Will buy more if it swings around again. 90+ points.

Opened last night. Dark rich red ruby with decent legs. Ripe red currant fruit in the nose, with an overlay of vanilla. Nice and ripe. Red currant fruit in the mouth, rich, balanced, harmonious with a nice mouth feel. Vanilla and oak. Relatively long finish. Ripe style of Cabernet made for current drinking and drinking very nicely right now. Long, rich finish. Hedonistic, fleshpot of a wine. Less than $19 on special at Costco, a steal. 4-11-17-8: 90/100.

Opaque ruby and packed with ripe cassis, pickling spice, earth and cocoa on both the nose and palate, this iteration of the BV Rutherford Cabernet is a standout. Full-bodied, round and with medium-weight, silky tannins, it stays solid in the middle and shows no heat from its 14.2% alcohol. Closing medium-to-long and very smooth, it is a wine to buy by the case and enjoy over the next decade. Drink now-2024.

No formal notes, but a serious QPR. Definitely will want to try this again with some more time. Great blue and red fruits, good spice, balance with just enough sweet tannin. Super enjoyable and killed it with ribeyes.

This was really good for such a young wine. Ripe fruit and balanced. Aerated into a decanter. Poured immediately.

Chewy acids, medium tannins, dry. Light earth notes. High alcohol but still balanced. Good qpr. Drink now

Notes on day 2. Juicy, fresh with tart cherry and a little spice. I don't get much Rutherford dustiness on the palate. A solid adn well-made Napa Cab, though not unlike many other $20 Napa cabs out there.

Faint nose of blackberry and mocha. Well balanced with nice structure and a slight hint of "Rutherford dust" on the finish. Subtle fruit initially but opens nicely.

90+ points.

Way too new; was much better on day 2. Give this at least a year to settle down and soften up.
