Beautiful, linear, wet stones, bone dry softness, just the right degree of creaminess, gentle fruit. No part of this is even slightly overdone, and as a result the overall package is a wonderfully restrained and balanced very fine wine. The fact that I found this (last) bottle in a Wiltshire shop 2 years ago at £13.50 makes it probably the best QPR bottle of any wine that I've ever bought. I also saw it last year in London at £18.95, and the 2015 vintage is currently on sale at a wine shop in Tunbridge Wells for £54. Go figure.
A touch more fruit concentration would have got it a 94/95 score.

Medium golden color with some amber to it. Medium(+) intensity nose showing bruised peach, dried apple skin, citrus oil, toasted nuts, honey, flinty and floral overtones.
Bordering on full bodied but not heavy or fatty at all. There’s acidity and texture enough to balance that rich body. Great concentration to the flavors with lots of bruised fruit, spicy and floral notes. It ends with a long, lingering finish.
A really great bottle of Condrieu that is far more interesting than the heavy, sometimes soapy, wines I’ve had before. Definitely worth seeking out!

Mineral-inflected, perfumed nose of white flowers, green apple, and toast. Floral oil in the mouth, to the point of being cloy, but nice acidity and a rich finish brings it together. Full body. Drink now through 2020.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #100; Jubllee tasting with dinner: See also my previous note. Tonight’s bottle was served a bit too warm. Aromatic and grapy bouquet, and the same on the palate. Very ripe fruits, some sweetness and also good acidity. Good concentration. At this temperature the minerals did not really show. No score for tonight.

Tackier in texture and more concentrated than the CR viognier. Peachier fruit on the palate, with less freshness but greater concentration and length. No sign of oak. Good.

Retailer tasting (Le Bouchon): Overall the wine is probably locked and still too young, because it does not really impress at this moment. There are apples, some limestone minerals, tropical white and yellow fruits, a bit aromatic, ok acidity and a touch of sweetness. For today my score of 88 is already quite generous, but I hope that with some more age on it the wine will score at least 88 or a bit higher. Around 2017?

My first full bottle of Condrieu in quite a while. Outstanding full bodied flavour. Good price for a half bottle.

At 67PM: chiselled, focused viognier, no fat here, rather fine

(at Jean George – NYC) Fairly full and exotic. Was enjoyed by the table and went well with a variety of dishes. (90)
