medium red, purple rim - bright sour red cherry nose - medium full body with abundant grassy, green pepper cab franc fruit - 10 sec finish with mineral aftertaste - a nice example of a well-developed Loire Valley Chinon, but not for those who don't appreciate pure cab franc

Beautiful perfumed nose - fruit and earth are on equal footing. Fairly rich and full bodied - guessing that's the old vines. There's a ton of brightness and acidity and some tannin that's not at all bitter.
Great showing and one of the best QPRs I've found lately.

Nothing to get excited about here at all. This is obviously cab franc from the loire valley, but it is not exciting at all. Not worth cellar space in its bulky bottle!

There's a dankness to the nose with an underlying black fruit component, but overall the nose is a bit muddled. Medium bodied with a medium ++ acidity, and the palate is red fruit driven, but there's a chalkiness that obscures the purity of the fruit. Overall, this is in an odd spot right now.

Sour on the nose, and followed by broccoli, sour cranberries, cherries, herb salad, black pepper, and citrus peel on the palate, this has a singular flavor profile while retaining the classic Chinon characteristics. Dark chocolate note becomes more pronounced as the wine breathes, and the fine cocoa powder-like texture elevates that chocolatiness. It is dry. You have to like Chinon to like this though. 13% alc.

Popped and poured. Clean, pure cherry aroma. Full, rich flavors of red fruit. Mineral citrus finish. Young, delicious, firm backbone, but simple. The latter attribute may very well change with time, but that's where we are right now.

Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Champagne, and some blinds (Chicago, IL): Served blind. Based on the purplish colour, I thought that I wouldn't like this. Well, that teaches you to judge a wine by its colour. The nose had a juicy young-wine smell, with maybe a hint of carbonic, so I figured it was something made in the last 1-2 years (i.e. current release or one before). Despite that high-toned fruit, the palate is very austere: new world fruit, old world restraint. There were some guesses that this was northern Rhone based on the pepper on the nose, but I felt that it was missing more oomph for that.

Smoky and earthy on the nose. Fine tannins and moderate acid, Cherries and plums with a nice streak of smoke, iron and mushroom.
