Amazingly tannic for a 2013. Bought 6 bottles awhile back and drank the first today. I will probably wait another 5 years before I drink the next bottle. I wouldn't be surprised if this wine has another 20 years to go. Plenty of flavor now, layered like a good wine should be. Reminds me of a good, but young, Napa cab. Neither overly fruity or oaky as it seems many Chilean cabs are. Nicely balanced. Should only get better with continued bottle aging.

Good South American tar. My experience tells me this is still very young, with plenty of depth to go 10 more years. Still too young with several notes that need to mellow and blend.

Fresh Cabernet fruit, nicely balanced with well integrated oak. A bit of bottle aging has settled this nicely, meaning this isn't a fruit or oak bomb as many Chilean cabs can start off their life. Enjoyable mid-week wine that'll keep on giving for a good 5 years more.

A good vintage for this wine, drinking very nicely now with everything integrated. It even has some herbal and earthy notes and decent acidity that bring this Chilean cab just a bit closer in style to a (modern) left bank Bordeaux.

Plum and spice on the nose. On the palate, dark cherry, plum, pepper, raisin, tobacco, blackberry, and oak. The wine is immediately dry, with firm tannins and ample acidity. Alcohol is medium-plus.
Paired perfectly with marbled rib-eye steak.

MNB: Free-for-All (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Medium plus ruby color, with some garnet at the rim - thick-skinned variety with some age. Extremely stinky nose - some reduction and possibly manure (bacterial/brett) and some green pyrazine (rotting bell pepper) notes. There's some fruit - black cherry. In the mouth, sweet (possibly 3-5g RS), medium plus body, 14% alcohol, medium plus acid (seems fake - possibly acidulated), medium tannins (scratchy and unpolymerized) and a hint of sweetness suggesting new oak influence - maybe 20% new French barrique. Coffee grounds.
Initially I thought old-world, but I think the manure is a flaw and mostly I'm smelling reduction.
New world, Pyrazinic: - Chilean Cab - would have more black fruit. - Chilean Carmenere - fits. - Australian Coonawarra cab - would have more black fruit, more mentholated pyrazines.
Final call: 2016 Chilean Carmenere, $15 actually 2013 puente Alto Chile Marques de casa concha Cabernet. $20 20% barrique Analysis: I missed the black fruit. It was a bit rich for carmenere, perhaps.

One of super premium wines of this huge producer; Variety is Cab.Sauv. 92% and the rest added Cab. Franc, Merlot and Syrah; wine is matured 16 months in French oak barrels. Tasting: dark red, nose with ripe cherries, black berries quite intense, strong and fruit forward aromas of black currant concentrated and smory, firm tannin, present vanilla touch from oak and spices, overall rich and elegant wine, very good but without claw for me.

Amazingly consistent with previous note (had it with grilled NY strip steak). Mellowing out and integrating nicely still has that Chilean cedar note.
Day 2 - Saved 2/3 of the bottle. Decanted again and let air for 1 hr. More integrated Chilean cedar greeness nicely diminished more plummy with some cigar box notes. +1pt.

Bold purple color. Nice mix of tart blackberries and jammy currants, along with wet soil, tobacco and bell pepper elements. Full-bodied, structured but smooth tannins, and medium acidity, it all combines for a silky but mouth-filling texture. Blackberry and black currant, ripe but a bit crunchy as well, which I like. Notes of earth, charcoal and pipe tobacco, it’s toasty but not too much. Finishes smooth yet rich. For years this has been a solid value, and Concha y Toro is continuing that history. Includes some Cab Franc, Merlot and Syrah.

Sanguine and toasty oak aromas. Light body for a cab. Palate is delicate mixed black fruits, lightly toasted oak, pyrazines, and coffee, with some hints of chocolate and mint. Finish is moderately short. Drink now, not an ager. Lacks the acidity and tannins to accompany a steak, so this one is better without food.
Edit: gets longer, deeper and spicier with additional air.

Popped and poured. Took a few minutes to really show something. Aromas of blackberry, cherry, earth and flowers. On the palate, flavors of blackberry, olive, game, iron and herb. Ends with a finish of about 20 seconds but ends with a more earthy, gamy theme. Nice wine but not in the same league as the great 2011.

Dark red with medium plus optical density. Good intensity on the nose, with a mix of vegetal and fruit aromas, including an interesting and strong note of jalepeno pepper, then some green pepper, blackberry, and black currant along with some cedar box underlying the fruit/vegetal aromas. Smooth on the palate, with full body and medium acidity, and a good bit of heat. Flavours on the attack of vegetal notes (green pepper and jalepeno) and subtle blackberries that hold through the mid-palate, when some cedar and tobacco comes in prior to the medium length finish. The mid-palate is a little hollow and the flavour fades abruptly before the finish comes on, but a solid wine. Very interesting for the smooth texture and jalepeno flavours (not sure I've ever noticed this flavour before!), and nice value if you like more vegetal flavours.

Too young for me at the moment. Deep opaque purple with lots of mint and rich cassis and cherry. Moderate tannin so should be good for 5 or so years. Day 2 felt a little more evolved and slightly less of a fruit bomb, more to my liking so suggest decanting for a few hours prior to drinking now but better still hold for a few years

regardless of region, this is a killer cabernet for $17 on sale!
big chilean nose of black fruit, tar, and cedar. black pepper, spice, and medicinal green herbs.
medium-full body with ample acidity and spicy tannin. this youthful character makes it seem lighter than it is.
palate of deep blackcurrant, tangy raspberry, cement, chocolatey french oak and an ashy mineral note. chile's distinctive cedar and pepper notes show themselves but do not dominate the palate. the high acid and young tannins are present, and need time to integrate, but are still approachable now.
this has everything i look for in a new world cabernet under $20. ripe black fruit, rich oak, and bright mineral undercurrant. will buy more for the cellar.

Year after year, a dependable, solid, super-value, widely available, go-to mid-priced cab - my favorite cab at this price point. Inky dark purple color; intriguing, complex nose and mouth-filling flavors of black fruit, dark plums, figs, dark chocolate, and pickling spices; a touch of acidity, and generous but well-integrated tannins, ending in a long, bright fruity finish with tobacco in the background. Sure to be a crowd pleaser, as my 20-something beer loving kids really liked this - went superbly with grilled skirt steak and butterflied lamb at our father's day dinner.
