Great with Bison! 15 years old and in it’s prime. Drink and enjoy but lots of years ahead. Silky tannins. Meat, tomato, and sanguine mesh with the fruit and the full, rich, smooth experience. Decant for 2 hours - needed it and it is amazing.

1.5 hour decant: This wine is in a great place now and I don't see much (further) upwards potential. Btw, high-level Aglianico is sometimes called "Barolo of the South" but this particular one is more reminiscent of Brunello di Montalcino in its flavor profile, at least in my view.

An outstanding aglianico from Taurasi DOCG area in Italy. Deep cherry and cranberry red color in the glass with intense aromas of these fruits plus plums, leather and vanilla. On the palate, medium bodied mouthfeel with complexity of taste sensations mirroring the wine’s aromas. This wine is luscious …..with elegance and warmth from first taste sensations to the lovely finish. The 2008 was a special homage for the producer and it clearly exhibits his dedication to producing an excellent Taurasi!

Medium bright ruby. Sour plums, crabapple, and walnuts on the nose. Intense red berry notes as well as a touch of crabapple that is so intense it gives a false impression of effervescence. Really strong tannins with a hint of walnut shells. Not my style.

Graphite-like softness, smoothness, and dryness. Medium weight. More herbs than fruit, and what (black and blue) fruit is here tastes dried not fresh. Benefits from an hour+ decant to achieve this smoothness. Little complexity - the flavor dies off in the mouth rather than evolves. Clearly has many years left in it, but I don't know whether those will improve it or sustain a long plateau. I'll space my remaining four bottles over the next 2-10 years.

Really a lovely wine - definitely in the drinking window given its welcoming mouth feel and taste profile. Red and black fruit, soft but still assertive acidity. Tannins very soft. Surprisingly lush - it’s been 4 or 5 years since I’ve had this and the time did great work.

Color: dark ruby with garnet Nose: regal. Plum and crushed violets. Smoke from a hardwood log on a rainy day. Chesntuts. Red apple. Hints of candied blood orange zest. Leather and underbrush. Like a hike on the west coast of a Italy in late fall Palate: high acidity z powerful high tannins for a full body here, without fear. I had this with several types of lentils, rich American sausage, and boy it could have taken more. The mouth is a triumph of plums and blueberries Finish: medium-long
Well, this is in a good early youth spot. If I ever find more, I will acquire it. It has a blue fruit profile that has not a hint of the tiresome, and a fantastic, gothic structure. 2h of air minimum, no need to chill. Can go imo another 10 years easily, there isn't a hint of tired here

A magnificent wine with which I have little experience. Both powerful and elegant, rustic and fine, serious and inviting. Deep ruby. Dark fruit, earth, cola and wild herbs. Tannic yet veloptuous. I’m really impressed. Great now and should be great for 20+ years. Wow. What a surprise. (95)

Some trepidation at first with a hint of oxidation, but this blew off in a short while and settled down with some air. Now more in the style of a big Emidio Pepe Montepulciano, with only faint residual tannins. A big ripe wine, but one which gradually develops definition and structure (much in the style of a Pepe) in the glass. Some would not find this evolution exciting, but to me it is fascinating to see this emerge. Suggests of course that it should have been held for a few more years, but quite impressive nontheless...

Obtained on release. 750 ml. Cellared at 56 degrees, though some winters cellar went to 50 degrees. Slight oxidative aromas when first opened. This goes away. Took 60 to 90 minutes after decanting for full tart cherry fruit to come out and for wine to gain body. Smokey charcoal nose. After 2 hours some rose on nose. 2.5 hours subtle spice shop aromas. Smokey, tart cherry, mineral palate, perhaps white pepper after 2 hrs. High acid. Not a lot of layered flavors but quite delicious. Needs a fatty piece of meat. Paired beautifully with a Guinness/soy sauce marinated rib eye. Dark flavors of marinade matched dark flavors of the Aglianico Enjoy!
had a bottle that was a little funky but very drainable decided to drank my remaining bottles, all 4 were excellent drinking well medium nose full bodied, tasted cassis little leathery smooth finish
Medium-dark red with that transitions to lighter placid violet towards the glass. Smoked meats, bologna, raspberries, and creme-fraiche on the nose. Slightly tart raspberries, the tartness of which fades pleasantly over a long finish along with a dusting of cocoa powder.

24 hour slow-ox, then decanted and served; still young and restrained; deep, dark color, but with natural extraction levels; nose of dark sweet fruits, citrus, hints of violet and a light, gentle smokiness; excellent structure, with medium-full body, good acidity levels and silky tannins that become more pronounced with air; neither wood nor alcohol were obvious; smooth, balanced and a long aftertaste with balsamic and raisin hints; all things considered, this is a delicious wine but I was surprised with the restrained aromatic and flavor profile; a giant fist in a soft velvet glove, for sure; drink 2025 to 2035.

Sourced from Grapes NYC and decanted from mag for two hours prior to consumption. I have had positive experiences with numerous different vintages of this wine, but this one was very strange. Accompanying quite a tasty gorgonzola and mushroom burger at Centro DSM, the usual volcanic ash and serious tannins were almost completely lacking this time. It didn't seem obviously flawed so much as, I suppose, quite muted. If served blind I have no idea what I would have guessed -- but certainly not aglianico. Bottle variation, I suppose? Or did they make this special version of the wine differently in 2008?
91+ with lots of potential for improvement. Decanted for 3 hours before drinking. Excellent red cherry flavor with what I thought was a stroke of cassis in the background distinguishing it from a Brunello. Finish is long, with finely integrated tannin that overpower nuance of the wine right now. Well structured, and will show its class over 3-4 years. I expect this wine to reach 94-95 points. High class.
