Light red in color and just a little cloudy. 15.6% ABV. Fragrant aromas of red fruits, spice and licorice. Perfectly balanced with bright acidity. Rich, ripe and jammy. Raspberry compote, cherries and white pepper on the palate. Zinfandel at 10 years of age does not get much better. Drink over the next year.

Bill's Monthly Lunch - June 2011 (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – medium red in colour, almost pink at the rim. American oak nose with sweeter raspberry and red currant notes. Rich and sweet in the mouth with flavours of crushed berries and hints of oak. There’s bright acidity here and well-balanced tannins. It’s very nice now but too primary, rich and oaky for me at this point. This was quite easy to identify as a new world wine but Zin didn’t come to mind until several other varieties had be eliminated. Perhaps in 3-5 years there will be more complexity, development and the oak will have had time to integrate. Very good. 88+

Soft and delicate, still bright purple color but showing some of the lovely tastes that develope in an aging Zin. Wonderful! You could never guess the high alcohol content considering the elegant flavors that have emerged.

I just love mature Zinfandel. This has shed it's babyfat and tastes more like claret than Zinfandel. Still some nice fruit, but secondary flavors have emerged, a bit earthy (in a good way) slightly pruny, some cinnamon. Very nice.

This is drinking very nicely now. Rich red briary fruit, this drank well with some turkey chili. There is just a bit of heat on the finish, but it's not very disruptive. Considering this is from the hot 2004 vintage, I would say this is nicely balanced. Should drink well for the next couple of years.

Plenty of black cherry and dark fruits. Good acidity. Might have used a little more tannin to really push it over the top in a rating of Zins. On the flip side, didn't exhibit any of the alcohol power so common to Zins nowadays. Wish I had another one in the cellar.

Everything you could ask for from a mid bodied zin. No pepper or spice, but a rich full experience. Great fruit nose of rasp and black berries with some bell pepper and herbal tones, medium palate taste and good finish. Much deeper than a Pinot, but not the spice or tannins of the Turleys. Uncomplicated and accessible, great with olives and 24 month aged Parm, with Prosc. ham, but enough depth to be interesting and layered. Not quite dark enough to echo a month of below zero Minnesota weather, but a lifter and light hearted start to the evening. Wish I had more!!!

Still singing. Deep ruby red with some cloudiness. Bright fruit and acidity. No heat at 15.6% alcohol. Beautiful wine.

Very bright red with red edges. Ripe red fruit, raspberry and sagebrush. Nice ripe flavours and a medium long slightly sweet tannic finish. Very good.

A lot of power and spice. Enjoyable but a bit disjointed overall. I think it would benefit from another year of bottle aging.

We drank this after a couple bottles of bigger Zin, so it probably was not a fair test. It did not blow me away.
