  • Very good and clearly rather concentrated, but other than that nothing special to me. Balance wasnt great, almost getting some bitterness. All in all, a really nice wine.

  • Drinking well. Tart linear citrus with good mouthfeel and concentration. Best of 4 white burgs tonight— Maltroye 2013 Grand Ruchottes and Dent de Chein, and the B Moreau 2013 Vergers.

  • Number two down. A deeper yellow suggesting some advancement in this bottle. Definitely not Premox’d but adds some ripe yellow orchard fruit to the intriguing white orchard fruit. Excellent concentration and delicious. Day 2 even better.

Suggest if you have it’s time to open.

  • Saw this on the shelf at my local wine shop. Looked it up on CellarTracker and saw these great reviews. Bought a couple of bottles. I decided after thinking about it... “when will I run across more 2014 Burgs with a nice rating”, went back and bought four more bottles, not having one yet.

Had the first one tonight. Popped and poured and was immediately disappointed. I thought “this taste like a good Burgogne, nothing special. What’s all the fuss?”

Boy, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Immediately it started to improve with weight, nose and palate. I went to a block party and let it sit for 3 1/2 hours in the bottle. Came back and it is really singing. See the below reviews for more description, but the bottom line is I would recommend it if you can find it. The real deal.

  • Intense 24K gold color, darker than I'd have guessed but no obvious signs of prem-ox in the nose, although a bit short on fruit, so maybe a little?? Certainly darker than other '14's opened in the past year or so. I think I'm going to shake it up a bit and see if anything changes.

Shaken not stirred. No prem-ox at all. A little air helped coax it out from a tight acid shell. White orchard fruit, buttery oak influence and lemony cream now on the nose. Medium full and plush on the palate with orchard fruit and oak dominating, then reaching a taut-2014 acid crescendo on the finish. Lures you in and then pow!

  • This is just incredible. As good as a Chassagne 1er Cru can get.

  • Lovely out of the gate, but the pleasure drops off slightly with air, with the nose showing a little simply and overly fruit-focused. More fun on the palate - full of flavourful extract - but lacks some of the sparkle and vivacity we expect from a 2014. Apple juice and biscuity on the finish. Still good, but I would prefer more energy here.

Gets flatter with the second glass. I don't detect any TCA, might this be slightly oxidised...

  • Youthful, full nose. Yellow orchard fruit and melon. Also nutty, and gently oaky with good depth. Hints of minerality.
Fullish, rich and balanced palate. Very well dimensioned. Pure. Gently oaky, a bit smoky, yellow orchard fruit. Lovely acidity and length bodes well for cellaring. Only lacks some majestic fullness for the really great.

  • This is stellar Chenevottes. All you can ever want in a Chassagne. Zest, zing and depth. Love.
