next to 2020 Selvapiana Bucerchiale. Medium garnet color. earthy aromas. dried cherry and a little vitamin aroma. this is day 2 and the lift if extra-ordinary. Sat next to Bianca Contini Bonacossi last evening at dinner, and I felt like we could have been sitting at an afternoon baseball game, so pleasant to talk to. With just a little bit of time, the vitamin subsides...a touch coconut oil to the aroma?? w/ licorice. All in all, extremely harmonious aromas, loads of complexity.
palate shows the 12 yrs of maturity that the aromas do not. Medium minus tannin, medium plus acidity. Gonna have to start stuffing some of these wines away...
lots of time ahead of it, this is still way shy of mid-life. drink to 2045+

Rich with dark dark skin fruit on the nose, enticing and promising. We are very hard to put dot to give this 100 points. And maybe we should have! We cannot think of anything this one could have done better. A perfect pairing with ricotta spinach tortellini over a bed of sautéed fresh spinach and garlic, with a drizzle of Alfredo and pesto sauces. Divine! Dark chocolate for dessert with it, only carried us right over the edge!

Texas Wine School - Italian Wine Scholar Class. This is a delicious blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet in color. The nose is clean, medium (+) in intensity, with ripe red cherry, blackberry, currant, herbs, cedar and forest floor. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+), grippy tannins and high alcohol (15%). The alcohol is not hot on the palate, however, which is indicative of the impressive balance and structure of this wine. The palate is consistent with the nose. Overall, this is a full-bodied wine with medium (+) to pronounced flavor intensity and a nice, long finish. It is drinking well now but should continue to show well through 2022 and beyond. Carmignano is an often overlooked oasis of value and quality, considering that this retails in the $25 to $30 range.

Popped and poured. Medium purple colour, pink rim. Dominant notes of black cherries, dry soil and spices – aromatically very much like a standard Chianti Classico. Displays lots of food friendly freshness, good concentration and well integrated alcohol (the stated 15% almost seems hard to believe), but the overall balance is sadly compromised by some seriously fierce tannins. Needs time – not a complete waste to open a bottle now, but should be better three to four years down the line (88-91 points).

Red to purple, high acidity, m+ tannins, plum, cherries, warm, alcoholic aftertaste that is short. A bit thin. Harsh, bitter. My guess is this needs some serious time in the cellar to settle down.

I didn't find this pale coloured but apart from that, I agree very much with HenryGJeffreys! Sooo moreish! Bottle emptied so quickly between us, juicy, energetic, 'Tuscan cherries' and some darker berries - the labelled 15% is really surprising given the drinkability here.

The alcohol was prominent in the aroma, hoping it'll soften a bit overnight. Nice with Lasagna dinner at home.

At once elegant and strapping with the cedar/dusty notes and stuffing of Cab, the juicy spicy tomato-y savor of Sangiovese.
