I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Antinori, a winery in the heart of Tuscany that produces excellent super Tuscans, a denomination to differentiate from the so-called Classic Chiantis. It's just that the super Tuscans are a step above. This marchesi antinori is a beautiful wine, and after a year in my cellar, you can already see that it has evolved a little. The tertiary touches are present, showing a more evolved wine, with the presence of leather, tobacco and damp earth. It's worth a try!

Consistent with prior tasting note. Outstanding Chianti Classico Riserva. Great expression of Sangiovese, pure elegance and finesse. This bottle will continue to develop in the cellar for at least 5-10 more yrs. Loved it!

Not decanted, opened an hour ahead of time and then consumed over 1 1/2 hours. Rich for its medium weight, with polished but present structure. Black cherries and a little plum with moderate oak and a slight savory edge. Very nice, in a modern old world sort of way. Approachable now, but I'd expect this to drink well for several years at least. 89-90ish for me on the evening.

Had at home with pizza. Nice Chianti. Oak driven flavour and quite tannic at this stage but behind all of that there is really nice fruit. I think that over time this will develop nicely, but for the reasonable price, is there even a point to wait? I’m not sure, but I guess I will save a few bottles to see. Obviously would rather hold onto tignanello and drink this every day. 86+

Lighter red colour with a blueish hue. Incipient maturity showing herbs, chocolate and red berries. Warm and fruitful palate showing morello and With a long and mineral driven finish. Still young on the palate and in need of more cellar time for my taste, but already very nice showing. Best 2018-2028.

This is a savory, classic, firmly Old World wine that improved significantly with 30 minutes of decanting. Inexpressive nose at first, but with air I picked up roasted herbs, clay, and rosewater. Soft and smooth texture with a cherry/tomato fruit combo and big balsamic acidity. Substantial tannins on the finish considering the modest body; I like the touch of seriousness. I definitely think this will improve with age as the oak and tannins integrate more, though it’s fine to drink now.

Nose filled with red berries and a hint of vanilla. Palate is very fruitful with a fiery finish. This feels too young and fruitful for my taste, but with extra cellar time it will integrate much more. Best 2023-2033.

This was dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, nicely balanced and structured with dark cherry and plum fruits accented by notes of black tea, earthy tobacco, leather with moderate lingering tannins and tangy acidity on the finish. Call this a poor man's Tignanello.

Top level CC Riserva. Elegant garnet color. Notes of wild cherry, plum, tobacco, lavender. Full body, great acidity with balanced tannins and a long finish. This truly is a baby Tignanello. Perfect pairing with a 51 day aged Bistecca Fiorentina.

Very good Chianti, with nice roots! All the things are there and in good balance. Berries taste nice and fresh, not your typical italian wine. Smooth and nice color.

Should have paid more attention that the glass label wasn't actually 'Tig' as I had hoped and wasn't aware they had a Tig chianti, but hey you live and you learn.
The palate is mid sweet sour. A little leather but all in all rather non descript other than being too pointed at the finish.
Consistent with my previous notes. So well balanced from the nose, to the body and finish. All about red fruits, mostly cherry, but there's some subtle layers adding depth. Balanced acidity and tannins. Still young, but really good with an hour decant. Its tough watching the price of these wines go up. Tough to warrant the now almost $40 this is fetching; it's just not that special. But still really good with potential!

Deep red colour. Youthfully mineraldriven nose with fresh red fruit and smoked herbal notes. Palate is very fruitful with youthful tannins and a fresh finish. Needs a couple of more years of cellaring to open up and mature a bit.

Medium nose shows rustic style, dried red and black fruit, leather, tea leaf, herbal notes. Palate is all red fruit, dried cherry, raspberry skin, earth tones, fresh dirt or peat, and plenty of structure with medium plus tannins, elevated acidity, medium body, medium plus finish. Solid wine.

Definitely needs food, but with an amazing red wine sauce on some Osso Bucco or Italian Pasta Dish it was amazing. We had a bottle at a restaurant, but if I had this wine in my cellar, I would save for at least 3 years to balance the fruit and tannins.

Consistent year to year. Big red cherries on the nose. Red fruits make up a smooth body, but the tannins are pretty prominent. Nice acidity and a medium finish. Certainly needs a few years in the bottle, but another beautiful vintage from Antinori.
4 star rating with 500 reviews on Vivino, so I was surprised to see a low average score here, but it was a small sample size.

GTW Tuscan Reds Star Performers Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): Polished oak, caramel, cream chocolate and red cherry. More of the same on the palate, quite juicy and fresh with font of mouth grabbing tannins, perhaps a little short but pleasant enough for what it is.

working with wine 2016 seminar 1 - tuscany (Hilton Hotel, Sydney): Muted and contained oak; caramel, vanilla, over perfumed and ripe cherry all grow in boldness with time in the glass and are joined by dusty crushed dried herbs and sweet spice. The herbs are more to the fore than the fruit here but there is still the tell-tale acidity and rim, drying but inherently fine textured tannic backbone. All carry and are joined by slightly herbaceous notes on the medium plus length finish
