Petrol on the nose and palate, some yellow fruit and a high salinity. The wine is dense, even a bit oily, good length. Showing better than the last one a year ago. Well approachable.

Ripe fruit, mainly peach, some petrol notes, the finish is saline. A bit oily and missing „peps“ for the level. Drinking well, but will not improve imho.

not blind At a good point to drink now. maybe a hint too much ripe yellow stone fruits. Acidity is well integrated. Miss the elegance. If you like fresh Riesling I would drink it over the next 2 years. 92

not blind decanted for 2 hours, really impressive wine, it reminds me to BW GC wines with a nutty finish. A lot of power, cracking acidity, yellow Stone fruits, everything in Balance and at his first Peak. Lovely to drink. 94-95

Trauringgold. Sehr klare, präzise Nase, Birne, etwas Muskat.

Private dinner. Very good Nahe expression, but did open up significantly after some more time, so if you drink it now: definitely use a carafe! Worked best with the langoustine/Cantaloupe melon/curry dish this evening...

Weekly tasting group RWP #284: Volcanic wines (@ PvdV): Pale yellow with a green hue. The bouquet is still a bit locked, but shows some green apples. On the palate a bit sparkling, firm citrus and green apple acidity. Minerals and grapefruit in the finish. 90 - 91 in this stage. Give it another 10 years?

Just as good as my last bottle. Today '14 is definitely better than '15. Will be interesting to follow '15 Felsenberg and see if it catches up and eventually surpasses '14.

Very light yellow colour almost clear. Straight out of the bottle I got some green asparges notes hinting of a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand but it passed with some swirling in the glass. Lean style, white flowers, lime but not at forefront, faint cucumber, mineral, salty, some grapefruit. Medium acidity. I really liked this wine even if it wasn't jam-packed with fruit. I'm gonna give a lot of credit to Dönnhoff for making this such a balanced symphony of aromas and flavor as I'm sure this wine could have easily been a trainwreck in someone else's hands.

Off balance. Disjointed acid and a slight green nature. Some redeeming tropical fruit and flowers on the nose. Short finish. Either the bottle or my palate was off

Flowers, green apples, and elderflower on the nose. Very high acidity, great structure, elegant, well balanced. Dry, nice fruity feeling, minerals, herbs. Still too young, will agree effortless for 15-20 years.

A great Riesling from the Nahe, at Day 1 very fruity notes in the foreground, exotic fruits, citrus and very salty, Day 4 was a fantastic complex Riesling with a fresh long finish, will need at least 5 more years, next bottle with 6 hours of decanting, 93-96

I had drunk this originally at the winery, and brought a bottle home. Although it was delicious, it was obvious it is still an infant - it will develop complexity with time. But it was great with seafood - 2014 is definitely one of the more balanced vintages I've seen in Germany.

Aromatics of ripe, yellow fruits and cool, freshly-cut herbs. Fine notes of butter. Elegant, but really open and inviting. Juicy and dense on the palate with juiciness of fruit, delicate, vibrant minerality. Perfect structure and length with matching sweetness, acidity and character. Surprisingly open and ready with all its pieces in place and, thereby, a great joy to drink already.

Wonderful effort from Dönnhoff. Straight and honest, sharp and with linear acidity. Makes no fuss, just gives an extremely good expression of Riesling. Almost bubbly in its exuberance, touches of pear in the taste.

VDP- presentation at Berlin: most subdued wine of the 3 too young Dönnhoffs of this tasting, very firm, crispy, mineralic, a little tart, slate, long finish, (***- * ?) (90-91+?)

This showed a gorgeous nose of ripe citrus and pit fruits with mineral-stone and hints of herbs. On the palate, it provided smooth textures with veins of brisk acidity giving lift to its ripe citrus tones. Minerals coated the senses throughout the finish with citrus rind bitterness lingering on the palate. This was tremendously balanced for young GG.
