Decanted for 15 minutes and then paired with pizzza.
Dark red / black color with slight brownish tint. On nose, menthol, dark cherry, sweet cherry, herbs (rosemary/sage) and sweet tobacco. On palate, more fruit oriented but nice structure - dark/sweet cherry, tobacco and some slight savory undertones. Medium body/acidity/tannins and long finish. Has improved nicely since I last tasted in 2017. 92+/-
Excellent value - score is not QPR weighted.

This is very young yet. The color is bright and clear. No sediment. The nose is a bit reticent. It opens very tight on the palate. After an hour it slowly began to open to classic dark cherry with good rustic notes. Very food friendly acidity. Wait until at least 2022-2027 would be my recommendation.

Lovely colouring showing age at the rim. Nose is really quite savoury, perhaps with a bit of stewed fruit in there but attractive. Theres decent intensity on the palate and still plenty of structure. Altogether a nice mature Chianti which I think would be best consumed between now and 2022.

San Felice & Campogiovanni Tasting (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): A very solid showing, all red fruit, floral roses, leather, touch of Brett that is well integrated into the character of the wine, nice acid and overall balance; very nice value.

Drank over two days, color looks great, slightly translucent rub. Little hot and tight on day one, pretty good with a meal. Much better on day two, opens up nicely and is much more smooth and balanced, Notes of oak and black cherry leading to a welcome finish. Maybe one for the decanter, certainly enjoyable.

Texas Wine School - Kings of Italy Class. the nose is showing ripe yet tart red fruit and tons of wood smoke. The palate is dry, with medium to medium (+) acidity and tannins. The alcohol is medium at 13% and overall the wine seems a little thin, with the oak overpowering the fruit. Medium bodied, with medium flavor intensity and a medium finish. This might come around in a couple of years, but I don't see the fruit surviving the oak. Unfortunately, this is quite a step down from the Il Grigio Gran Selezione, but then again the Riserva is now in a different price bracket.

Tart Cherry, tobacco, black tea, earthy. Fairly dry with noticable tannins and pronounced alcohol. Probably better paired with a rich or spicy italian dish. Decanted 1 hr

I was a big fan of this wine and have had a case each every year. But this vintage has disappointed me to no end. All bottles I have had so far taste and smell like corked wine. No sign of fruit, just the car board smell and unpleasant taste. Two bottles down the drain tonight...

PnD 2/3 of the bottle let air for 2hrs. Dark garnet purple deep but not saturated with plum to clear rim. Cherry sage and sassafras on the nose. Medium weight with black tea tannins. Cherry earth herbs and a touch of cola on the palate. Short sharp and hot on the finish.

Strong nose of black olive with a hint of cherry and alcohol. Very astringent and abrasive nose at this point. Similar effect on the palate. The wine is totally off balance and so obnoxious at this point that after drinking a glass, I didn't want to drink any more of it. Significant taste of alcohol and oak flavors. My suspicion is that the alcohol is way higher also (nothing close to 13% as stated on the bottle). I have loved previous 4-5 vintages of this wine so I m very surprised how this vintage is showing at this moment.

Dark black / red color. On nose, menthol, herbal, sour cherry & tart cherry. Similar flavor profile on palate. Medium body, high acidity & medium plus finish. Tannins are well integrated. Should gain 1-2 points with a few more years of bottle age. I enjoyed the '09 of this bottle in early '17.

Gambero Rosso Singapore 2017. Sniff, sip, spit. Only impressions. Earth, leather, sour red cherries, soft tannins, good acidity. Approachable ad highly drinkable. Not a serious CC Riserva but good as it is. A definite big step up from the regular CC bottling.

Medium full body. Soft tannins with a firm acidity. Dark fruit predominates. Ready to drink. Nice wine with food. Not overly complex, but a reasonable value.

I have liked this a lot in previous vintages, including the '11, but this bottle was not great. Quite translucent in the glass, and thin on the palate and more acidic as well. Pleasing aroma, textbook chianti, but just lacks the stuffing of previous vintages.
