1999 - So much depth and so many layers of flavor. Fresh baked almond croissant, burnt caramel, apples baked w/warm spices, and eggy lemon curd. Bubbles are effortlessly integrated into the wine, creamy and smooth with DVX's signature laser like long crisp finish. Drinking beautifully now, but it will hold well for a many more years to come.

Christmas Eve with Family (Our House): Light gold color. Drank a couple glasses over 45 minutes. This was a great final bottle to cap off the 1999 DVX's. Nose shows some earth, yeast, nutty, citru and apple with very fine bubbles. The palate is elegant and delicate, carrying depth but not heavy handed, apple, citrus, nutty, doughy minerals. Great balance, nice finish. Really great way to start the celebration, but I am very sorry to see these go. For any who still have this with good provenance, don't be afraid to hang onto this another 2-3 years.

Opener for our wine group dinner at Le Provencal in the Gables. Another fabulous four-course extravaganza with 10 good wines. I brought this for the group to try something a little different. In our double blind format, the guesses ranged from French (mainly) to Cava. This had some yeastiness and age to it, which may be thrown some. Everyone said they liked it. I did too. It wasn't WOTN but it held its own

Has held up very well. Just like I remembered it at the winery when we bought it many years ago. Smooth, well balanced and no sign of decline. Wish we had more.

Retail $50. I paid $33 at the winery. Tasted 2/14/12. We opened this for Valentine’s Day and it was a very pleasant surprise. We had a bottle of this at Christmas and it was rather listless. This bottle was bright and cheery with great citrus and even a hint of brioche. (All right, I have been told that ‘brioche’ is more than a tad bit pretentious. I guess I agree, but in my defense, I actually do know what brioche smells like–if you don’t, think ‘baking bread’ or something like that.) Medium finish, lively sparkle. Outstanding.

The Big Bordeaux Redux: 1986, 1990, 1995 and 1998 (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Light gold color. It's been nearly 2 years since last having this wine. It was outstanding then and did not disappoont now either. Fairly consistent with previous note. Yeasty, nutty, fresh, smoky/toasty, green fruits. Palate is quite lively with pear, apple, toast, yeast. Excellent. 92+pts.

Wow, this just knocks your socks off. Beautiful yeasty nose wtih toast and hazelnuts, a bit floral with just a hint of coffee. Wonderfully tart with crisp green apple and pear notes on the palate. This wine is nuanced and layered with a nice long finish. This is just coming into its own in my opinion.

Wow, Wow, Wow. After reading some of the tasting notes I was worried! This sparkling showed beautifully! Very well balanced with nice fruit and acidity. Showing some signs of maturity with a lovely nutty nose and moussey mouth feel

Drink it up. While still enjoyable, this one is fading fast. Bubbles are becoming few and far between. Aromas and flavors run toward the sherry and malt side of the spectrum. Nice example of a mature sparkling wine.

Very, crisp clean and tasty. Pretty dry with yeast and citrus dominating along with some secondary fruit that I can't pinpoint. Very good overall quality and a fair value but not terribly memorable.

Used this as a palet cleanser before the Alexander Valley Cab tasting, and wished I'd kept it to myself because it was too little for each person when shared amongst 6 or 7 people. Delicious in a yeasty, creamy kind of way. Cheers to my friend Jim for giving me this bottle.

Baked apple and pear, roasted almond, toasty sour dough flavors. Medium body with the acidity holding strong. Moderate length finish.

Has improved a bit since release. Glad I bought a case at 40% off; this was one of the last two bottles from that case.
