Still tight closed at opening. Started showing granache, berry fruity attack with a balanced finish of spicy, earthy tannins. Well proportioned wine that opened and improved over a 2 hour dinner. Drinking well but still full of life for another 3-5 years.

Vinturi/decanted for an hour - objectionable to start. Integrated over next 2-3 hours. A lot of nice mineral and structure, black fruit. Pleasant, but the heat and the lock of integration prevented a better score. My first of four bottles, but I don't see myself pursuing more.

Deep ruby color. Some pancake syrup on the nose that faded quickly, with dark fruit and grilled herbs coming out in its stead. Fully body, medium acid, chalky tannins. Delicious blackberry fruit on the palate with the tannins provide some nice balance. Very tasting, though perhaps lacking in complexity.

Initial PnP presented a flabby, one-dimensional cherry flavored wine. However, after a few hours decant to open up, it showed it’s true colors as a very good wine with peppery, licorice, cherry dimensions that is complemented nicely with a slightly hot/alcoholic dynamic ensuring you remember it is a 15%+ abv southern rhone. Not all will like the heat it shows, but I found it complemented the flavor profile well and added to versus taking away from the experience. Very nice, probably has a few more years before it peaks but drinking well now with a decant.

Dynamic flavor profile over 1-2 hours. Raspberry jam, charcuterie, low-key pepper and even lemon, vanilla. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with a bit of tobacco, charcoal, nutmeg. Above nicely balanced with finely integrate tannins. Definitely drinkable now, but I'm saving the rest of the case for 2-3 years.

Drank over two days. Decanted. Medium garnet in the glass. On the nose, black cherries dominate, with pepper and salinity in the background. The palate has strawberries, cherries, earth, pepper and a touch of cured meat. Tannin was bigger day one and integrated much better on day 2. The Finish softened and lengthened significantly on day 2. Much more elegance on second day.

Decanted for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Aromas of fruit cake, raspberry, roasted herbs, lavender and currant. Flavors of raspberry, fig, sour cherry, roasted herbs and touch of pepper. Ends with a 25-30 second finish with raspberry and herb notes. At the one hour mark this was still a bit tight but probably could have used even more air or worth holding off for another few years. Think I preferred the 2016 regular bottling I had last year. More open for business and half the price.

A very nice wine with lovely fresh fruit and nice balance. It was a hair on the sweet side for my taste, but still a pleasure to drink. Raspberry was the main nose and flavor profile noted. Quite lovely and elegant, somewhat Burgundian in style, despite the 15% alcohol that did not overpower. Medium+ body, nice long finish.

Really dense & tight. Needs way more time. Dark fruit & tar w/ lots of minerality. Will be great with another 5-8 years in bottle. This was infanticide.

Still young and could use more time. Some dusty tannin and darker leathery flavors at the start. Opened up a touch but may be starting to shut down a liiiiitle

Sexy, silky and sensuous, there is purity to the fruit, length and ripe, polished tannins. The wine has weight, balance, harmony and a plethora of sweet, ripe, red fruits to make this something that tastes as good as it feels. Produced from a blend of 75% old vine Grenache, 15% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah, the wine reached 15% alcohol.

The nose showed rich fruits, blueberry, plum, and raspberry with spicy floral tones, charred meat, smoke and dried flowers. On the palate, I found velvety textures with floral-infused red and blackberry fruits, sweet spices and saturating inner violet florals. It finished smoky with charred meats, spice, wild herbs and lingering inner florals.

Printemps Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2017; 4/7/2017-4/9/2017 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape): Couleur : rubis sombre. Note : 17-17,25 (94-95)

Not fruity, blood/salinity, maybe earthy. Loved it...
