Served blind in a Zalto bdx. The nose is tropical, with a bit of verve. Kind of a less than fruity profile though and the oak seems to have receded quite a bit, just a hint of vanillin left. Alcohol a bit high but that was a nice tell.

Coravin fun - Northern(ish) Rhone (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas show a little stone fruit, waxy, oaky sweet spice, like the Ogier le Temps a little alcohol prickle. Juicy, a little stone fruit, touch of bitterness joins an oaky burr, a little glycerol waxiness, alcohol warmth on the finish, creamy elements with time...Hmm

I love this wine. Decanted for 2h. Expressive nose -- almonds, pears and honeysuckle. A little lighter body than many Hermitage but plenty of acidity. Great food wine.
Tasted side-by-side with '15 Chave blanc. Very different styles. Personally the richness and body of the Chave won it for me but it was close and split the room. The wine looks yellow colored. The legs are medium. Lemon, honeydew, pear and almond. The body is medium. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Refreshing minerality, with pear and citrus flavors. Nice long finish. Love the malolactic after-taste: almond, marzipan. Cheerful, lively. Impressively balanced. Drink now.

Birthday Sunday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): From Coravin. Stone fruits, bees wax, a little oak, quite rich really with some texture, with time a little honey here as well as some marzipan/almond meal. Softly acidic, glycerol breadth like the georg breuer but without the acid line to offset. This tasted quite bitter with the scallops but worked well with the salmon and was lovely by itself as well.

Lighter in body and with greater minerality when tasted next to 2011 that was brought (by chance) to the same dinner. Citrus and stone fruit notes back by wet stone. Certainly lovely, but might need a year or 2 to mellow and open up.

Alluring notes of peach and limestone. Very nice wine, but certainly well short of what I would hope for in a white Hermitage. Missed the complexity and depth of flavor to be an outstanding wine.
From Coravin. Butter, almond, peach and a little dried apricot, sweet spice, pear, very slight green almond and bees wax, a little lemon underpin as well. Hmm, softly engaging, the acidity is just about present enough. A little texture. I remember this being bolder and, well, a bit obvious last time but the peach and apricot notes are still present here as well.

Double decanted. Notes from 45 min open. Closed nose with oil and honey, but just the barest tinge of citrus..lacking fruit. On the palate, good acidity, soft lemon, wet stone, a touch of white pepper, mineral oil...spicy finish. Meh. I expect a lot more oomph in an Hermitage blanc.

wax, peach, pear, lemon zest, iodine, still a baby going to be even better in time. Super concentrated. Other things good out there beyond chard and sauv blanc !

@ VINEUM. Brought in spontaneously by me because two bottles of the 2001 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc De L'Orée were completely oxidized and by now had my heart set on a white Hermitage. This 2015 is young, but very delicious what so ever!

A private lunch (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL): Floral, soft but fresh, elegant, rich and rounded, intense and lifted, touch of honey, very elegant and harmonious, so pure and flowing, juicy and stylish, very good length. A beauty.

Chapoutier Masterclass (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Peaches and apricots, orchard fruits, very slight fig. Toasty oak, buttery notes and a certain waxy quality married to almond meal. Very rich. In the mouth it's juicy but more apples here; ripe and rich though, long, exceedingly pleasant, well balanced with some front of mouth burr and a little bitterness and non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Possibly a little too worked but it's relatively young and I like it rather a lot.

Visit to Maison Chapoutier Cellar Door Shop (Tain l'Hermitage): Pale lemon. Lemon, floral, vanilla, honey, nuts. Developing. Dry, medium acidity, medium (+) alcohol (13.5%), medium (+) body, pronounced flavours on the palate. Very good, needs time.

Delicious but not as distinctive as other vintages of this great wine. Perhaps waiting a few more years- certainly no rush.

Surely a very nice wine but I am missing the background acidity that keeps things interesting. At least this bottle is somewhat flat.
