Tasted over three days and enjoyed every sip. All elements volcanic dominate, along with an enchanting peppery sappiness, suspended in a pithy red fruited juiciness that features excellent precision and lift. The wine also features an intriguing piercing quality, imparting an impression of hard minerals and precision stones. Off-the-chain QPR!

My first Canary Island wine and I didnt have high expectations but all the reviews on here really nail this wine. Minerality and saline are my biggest notes. Lots of fruit left and will probably get better with age. Most of my consumption is Spanish and Canary wines are now on my radar. Very nice.

Over 100 years old single vineyard of ungrafted vines. Restrained power, not showy, but full of tension and life. Very youthful, primal, unsettled, for some time even rather closed and ungiving. Needs air to open up to light smoke and dry sweet paprika. Sleek on the palate with lifted acidity, light and fruity. Long clean finish. I believe this can get better with age.

Interesting off the bat, but starts out really tight on the palate. Earthy, herbal, anaimale on the nose, cross between northern rhone and burgundy. Red fruit, and similar flavors on the palate, high toned. Nice complexity and very interesting for the price. Really enjoyed this.

Dark cherry fruit meets chocolate, leather, pepper, mushrooms, a herb I can’t place, a salty minerality. Medium in body, I expected it to be lighter and have been told the most recent vintage (2016) is lighter by stylistic choice. Nevertheless a good wine at a good price.

Weekly tasting group RWP #284: Volcanic wines (@ PvdV): The bouquet is smoky with some barnyard and also reminds of spätburgunder. On the palate chocolate, minerals, smoke, toast, dark berries, meaty, good acidity, some bitterness and drying tannin. Opinions differed about this wine. For me 88+?

Dark fruit, herbs, stony, hint of reduction and with very dry, almost salty, finish. Evolves in the fridge for a couple of days. Will probably improve over the coming years.

Tasted a bottle that had been open for a day, and the nose is complex and still quite youthful, with black fruit, red fruit, sulphur and stony minerality, earthiness. The palate is dry and still very tight, with grippy tannins and a long finish. Medium acidity and medium alcohol. This wine benefits from decanting and a lot of swirling in the glass, as the funky aromas blow off to reveal beautiful fruit and violets and the palate opens up and becomes more fruit-forward. I would hang on to this for a while
