Textbook spicy Argentinian Malbec from altitude. Developed fruit and floral character (dried flowers, redcurrant, black fruits) and lots of spices. Oak notes fully integrated and developed in smoky, chocolate / cocoa like character and some nuttiness. Amazing texture, tannins are still really there (but in a nice way).
Probably at its peak now, although it could even get more complex when a broader range of tertiary notes are developed. Will hold its peak for probably 4-5 years and be drinkable for even longer - conservatively estimated.

Appearance: Deep, intense purple color, hinting at its concentration and richness. Viscous legs indicating its high alcohol content and glycerol presence.
Aroma: Opulent bouquet of ripe black fruits such as blackberry, plum, and black cherry. Notes of violet and lavender adding a floral complexity. Subtle hints of vanilla, mocha, and sweet spice from oak aging.
Palate: Full-bodied with a velvety texture, coating the palate with its richness. Juicy black fruit flavors dominate, with layers of complexity from secondary notes. Firm, but well-integrated tannins providing structure and balance. Bright acidity lifting the fruit flavors and giving the wine a refreshing quality. Lengthy finish with lingering notes of dark chocolate and espresso.

Appearance: Clear, medium ruby Nose: Clean, medium + intensity with aromas of mixed berries, pine, salinity, and earth. Palate: Medium + acid, soft medium tannin, medium + intensity, medium + body with flavors of mixed berries, earth, and soy with a medium + finish.
Medium dense red to purple. Moderate lift. It’s slightly reductive and funky. Aniseed, meaty and mulberry aromas with a little bbq oak. Still fresh and certainly no development. Rich palate. Very good depth and even texture. Very full and warm. Ripe powdery tannins. Ripe black mulberry. Very rich and balanced.

This Finca Altamira Malbec by Achaval Ferrer is the priciest and most exclusive Argentine I have ever tried.. From a single vineyard this proud Malbec 🍇 is grown high in the Andes 🇦🇷 on volcanic gravel.
The bright and bold purple hues, and blackberry as well as cassis nose exerts it's muscle. The oak and tannins are well integrated, and light minerality shows too.
Thanks to bro @Mika Tyson Teau for generously sharing this with us what a mid week treat at Glo Damansara Extra Supertanker!

An excellent, elegant single vineyard high altitude old vine Argentinian Malbec. Dark ruby colour, with a purple rim, as it was in my 2019 tasting note. A detailed, powerful bouquet of blackberry, crème di cassis, cedar, tobacco, warm earth, mixed spices and tobacco leaf. A touch of vanillin oak, largely integrated with the bouquet. Dense, structured and meaty. With real fruit volume and power. Large scaled - with 14.5% ABV alcohol - yet silky and refined. The tannins - and the overall expression - now better integrated than three years ago. The tannins pretty smooth, not at all grippy or spiky. Similar black fruited plush flavours to the bouquet, with plenty of savoury, dark chocolate and tobacco nuance. Decent acidity provides focus and definition. Long. Now, seemingly, in its early mature drinking window. I'd expect it to drink like this until at least 2032+.

Purchased on my visit to Achaval Ferrer in Mendoza. A well-balanced and elegant wine, in the Bordeaux style, with soft tannins and hints of tobacco and leather. A really delicious wine.

Excellent concentration, dark and meaty black fruit. Young of course but drinking very well and far more interesting to me than so many New World oak bombs. Well integrated tannins and acidity. Interesting and I enjoyed it about as much as the 2008 version.

The wine looks rosy colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is light/medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.
Amazingly good after 4 wines!

Big, Complex Old Vine Malbec. Bright red fruit aromas, tobacco and integrated French oak. Has a cool citrus peel aroma mid palate, has tension to it and a 30+ second finish. About as good as it gets from the Southern Hemisphere!

A superb, elegant single vineyard high altitude old vine (90 years) Argentinian Malbec. Very dark colour, with a purple rim. A powerful, complex bouquet of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, cacao, new leather and some blueberry with violets and other dark floral perfumes and touches of spice. On palate, muscular, broad shouldered and structured with a large volume of unresolved, primary black fruit. Drinking well over two evenings. Ideally though it needs another 3-4 years minimum. It could be quite long lived. It is refined and in balance and proportion. Spherical tannins but with a little grip on the long finish. Racy, refreshing acids. A brilliant wine with real character.

A formidably concentrated, full bodied wine wears a deep ruby robe and immerses you into layers of blackberry, blueberry, scorched earth, cigar tobacco, smoke and flowers. There is a lot of density and tension on the palate, you can almost chew this one. The acidity is very high and tannins very ripe, providing a bitter sweet sensation on the huge finish.
Overall this wine leaves an ambivalent impression. On one hand I can't but admit the quality and purity of the fruit involved, but on the other, I believe there is too much of everything going on at the moment to call it truly enjoyable. I don't know whether Malbecs age well, but if there is any that does, this one is a strong candidate.

Pretty darn near perfect. Opens to a ton of bright red fruit and heavy toasted oak overtones. Leave it alone to decant in peace and you will be rewarded by a well-integrated stunning Malbec at its best. Deep garnet with a touch of brown around the edges. Viscous and supple on the tongue, long finish of fruit, spice and wood smoke. Paired with NY Steak (Of course!) but worked with puree of pumpkin and with potatoes provencal. The last sip didn't fight with the dulce de leche ice cream, either!
Can probably stand cellaring for 5 years or more, but would check in on it (if you have multiple bottles) every 18 months or so.

Really good after an hour, deepened and became more complex and plush. Hits all the classic Malbec notes with good acid balance.
