My first bottle of this having only had his Boca previously. At first slightly fizzy but that dissipated in about 30 minutes leaving a nice albeit simple north of the Po sipper. Dark fruit, cola, tea leaves. Good amount of iron. Rustic but not in a bad way. This should be drunk up soon.
More wild berry fruit on the second day, and gobs of minerals. This is actually pretty good.

Tastes like a savory Salmon Berry! If you're not from the PNW, a Salmon Berry has kind of a melony raspberry thing going. Add a big chunk of savory to that and voila! Smooth finish with earthy notes. Different but very nice. Paired well with grilled pork and clove (its sort of a SA thing) sausages.

Medium dark in glass, aromatics were floral and spicy. Very “racy” on the palate, with interesting fruit, earth, spice components. Took some time to open in glass, would have benefitted from decanting for aeration.

Another bottle and it was, how do I say it, really fun to drink! Again, it may not be for everyone, but an excellent performance. The sweet fruit gives way to a dry somewhat bitter finish, but I suppose that’s the tannins. Was just lovely with homemade pizza, with a shout-out to central milling for the fine Durham flour, a really tender sourdough crust.

Dark garnet color with a little mud. Dark red medicinal aromas. Red cherry and juicy grape flavors that evolve to a very lengthy tannic finish. Needs food and maybe some time.

High acidity and a quite dry finish as others have mentioned, but this bottle also offered some juicy purple fruit up front that made it much more enjoyable than I expected. Plum, cedar, wood smoke and limestone. Paired well with home barbequed burgers.

After the last bottle’s performance, I thought I’d try another. After a dinner party with white wines, everyone gone, opened a bottle and had a glass. Tonight with pasta ‘Norma’ it’s pretty damn neat. Maybe not for everyone. Really nice rich fruit, with some dry tannins. Kermit Lynch always said Burgundy required effort from the drinker and so does the Colline. Looking forward to another bottle!

Well, this is a nice surprise. Today’s bottle has really come around, nice fruit, compared with the last bottle, which I said was ‘difficult’. So now I look forward to trying the next one, quite amazing indeed.

Hmm, this is a toss up, if that's possible for a wine description. Decanted, and it did improve to the last glass, but... it takes some effort to really enjoy it. When and where would this be at it's best?

Not sure what to make of this one. Not as esoteric as some of the other Carlone wines I've tried. But also not particularly expressive tonight. We'll see what the other half of the bottle has to say tomorrow. It retained a fairly hard edge on night 2.

Unbalanced. Really tannic, and acidic, too, and no backbone, just kinda light fruit, on the other side. Absolutely would not buy again and certainly a hit to Garagiste's credibility.

This is overpriced. It's not terrible for a weeknight, kinda tannic, kinda fruity, kinda dusty. Drinkable. Not sure I would buy again but definitely not for $19.

Dark ruby red with a violet core. Nose was a bit muted to start with a slightly stinky attack; savory and earthy. Some solid leafiness as well. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Very dry on the palate with some red cherries, leather and earthiness. Solid acidity and a very dry medium finish. Metal fillings and bitter finish. Definitely seems like a food wine. Drink till 2022.

Strong sea urchin notes during the first hour. Became more fruit-driven over time. Medium-full-bodied with dry tannins that are never overwhelming. Drank well still 24 hours later, perhaps coming though as a bit tarry, but it paired perfectly with an exceedingly funky Affidélice cheese. 14% ABV. 89-90

Pretty big nose with fruits licorice and a potpourri of scents. Super tannic, need a gallon of water after a glass. Nonetheless, the fruit, mostly blue fruits, is quite nice, with strong hints of spiced cocoa.

Similar to the last bottle. Iron is prominent tonight. A bit past its prime. I have some 2017s of this that are probably in a better place currently.

Tried over successive nights on the nitrogen system. Never really rose above "ok". Powerful presence on the palate emphasizes tannins. Uncharming.

Nice fruity notes, silky smooth, slightly bitter finish. Better with food. Deserves better than the 87 it currently has.

Light graphite nose and dark red body. metallic finish with bitterness/vegetal which is a major detraction.
Strong tannins 7.5/10. Finish rounds out after a while and the vegetal properties subside. Full bodied. Needs powerful food
