First red wine at De Toren, served slightly chilled. A Bordeaux style blend lead by Malbec. Medium ruby red. Bright red and even a hint of blue fruits on the nose, as it warms up a bit of baking spices shows. Medium tannins (5/10) with a medium minus body. Black cherries and a little earthiness on the palate. Very quaffable with a medium length finish. Drink over the next couple years.

Tasting @ De Toren; 4/23/2022-4/25/2022 (De Toren, Stellembosch): The lightest offering of De Toren. Made from Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, served chilled. Light ruby with some purple in the rim, candied cherry, strawberry, herbs, blueberry, medium + acid, light tannins. Good to pair with a variety of lighter foods.

First wine with Charles Williams, the winemaker. Very interesting blend, 49% of the fruit is from 2016 of which all is skinless Malbec fermented as a white wine and then blended in with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from 2015.
Light purplish ruby red. Vibrant nose with red berries, cherries, strawberries, spices, leather, floral notes, a slight bit of green and a touch of chalk. Medium tannins (5/10) and higher acidity with a light plus body. Notes of tobacco, cherries, leather, dust and gravel with a medium finish. Solid summer red wine, especially if a little chilled. Drink till 2020.
Made up of 49% Malbec, 20% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Mostly sold through the cellar door and 1,300 cases produced.

De Toren Tasting with Charles Williams at the Estate (De Toren Wine Estate Stellenbosch): This is an interesting light blend. The malbec in the current release is from the 2016 vintage and merlot from 2015.
Very light color and the malbec had no time on the skins. Dusty chalk and easy drinking wine.
