Ruby hue that opens with violet and hibiscus aromas. Red and black fruit dominate the front palate while black olive, anise and black cherry bramble lingers on a lasting finish. Medium acidity, tannins and moderately high alcohol blend into a smooth full-bodied wine.

88 is in middle of very good, which this is, definitely. Dark, earthy, strong blackberry, cigar box/tobacco. NOT a timid wine, but not a fruit or alcohol bomb. Carmenere was one of the original 6 Bordeaux varietal grapes, but not grown there anymore for the most part. Seems to have a future in South America. Not having had a single varietal of this previously, I can not tell whether this is varietally correct, but it seems like a cross between either Petit Verdot and Merlot or Cab Franc and Merlot, so my best guess is that it is varietally correct.
Wish we had waited another year on this...give it plenty of air if wanting to consume now, popnpour will lead to disappointment. We paid $19.29 in Crested Butte several years ago and ended up taking it home. Seems like good QPR even at ski resort prices.

Earthy, herbal aromas. Dark fruit and leather. Blackberries on the palate nicely balanced with a splash of black pepper on the finish. Potential to develop further over another 2 or 3 years as still has lively tannins and good acidic balance.

Agreeing with KRBURKE, this was my contribution to an AWS organized tasting. It would have improved with a few years more in the cellar, or even a longer decant, but with this PNP, the fruits were dominated by the tannins and wood. I see the potential though, and for that reason I plan to buy and cellat another bottle for comparison in n a couple of years...

Tasted blind. Clear, bright, medium (+) ruby with purple hues. The wine looks youthful, with medium (+) extraction. The nose is clean, medium (+) in intensity, with ripe black fruit, green bell pepper, violets, tobacco leaf, vanilla, coffee, cocoa and sweet baking spices indicating some new oak. It seems like French oak but could also be American. The palate is dry, but fruit-forward, with medium to medium (+) acidity, tannin, and alcohol (13.5%). The body, flavor intensity are all medium (+). It is drinking well now, with potential for aging several more years. Overall, I guessed it was New World given the fruit and oak. Cool to moderate climate, given the restrained alcohol and overall balance. I thought it was a Cabernet Blend from Sonoma Coast or Margaret River and completely forgot about Chile. This is actually the best Carmanere that I can recall tasting. Really nice and a great value.

A: Medium purple. Medium (+) viscosity. Stained tears. N: Black plum, Cured meat, band aid, green bell pepper, black pepper, vanilla, coffee. IC notes tobacco and violets too. P: Aromas confirmed plus some blackberry. Dry, Medium acidity, tannin, and medium (+) alcohol, medium (+) body, intensity and finish C: Drink within 5 years. Good Quality wine.
MY GUESS: OLD world or new world, moderate climate, GSM or Carmenere. Final Guess. Chile, Carmenere (the pyrizine said bordeaux grape but the acidity seemed like it was from a warmer climate - bordeaux grape in a warmer climate with no obvious earthy notes)

Good nose of green pepper, spice, clove, vanilla, red and black fruits. Palate is dense, fruity, ripe, green pepper. Overall soft structure and sweet finish. More structure would have been nice.

Pinots, Carlisles & Imports at the Lake: Interesting wine with a potent fruit punch flavor that just stays on the right side of cloying. The vibrant acidity and tannic balance help it stay within a tight frame and make it successful. Dark cherry, spice are the primary characteristics. The Chilean interpretation of the carmenere grape seems to always works for me.

Society of Wine Educators Conference- Chilean Carmenere: Aromas and notes of bell pepper, cassis, star anise, rosemary & blueberry fruit. Shows a little more red fruit on the palate with spice notes adding depth. Juicy acid, medium body, broad grainy tannin on the finish.

a delightful wine, especially for the price. Not complicated, still good dark fruit with a little spice and earthy leather.

Very pleasant example of this varietal. Dark fruit flavors with good acidity. I expected more tannins to balance it.
