- Light gold color and aromas of lemon. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of lemon - According to the drinking window on CT, this should be dead but it was actually quite nice. Perhaps I was expecting the worst. Minerals and wet stones on the nose and palate. Need to get some more of this for during the week.

Still pale straw, hint of green. Surprisingly fresh. Good fruit, lemon and hazelnut. Only medium body but decent acidity and some minerality. Lacking real depth or complexity. Holding up well though. Not my best ever Les Setilles but great value.

Pale yellow with a hint of green. Nose is light and clean showing some lemon and a metallic edge. The fruit is fresh citrus with a hint of grassy weeds. The fruit is not big and rich and round, but noticeably finished in steel vats -- only a light touch of butter from the partial oak elevage. It is a bit bracing. Medium finish

Really 91 points. This 2005 Les Sétilles (I have tasted also older lovely vintages) goes far beyond his suggested level. With your eyes closed this is a super St.Aubin or a very good Puligny; fresh, fresh, fresh, balanced, pure (also 3x), a perfect ménage à trois between the wood, the almonds and a medium body. Olivier et Franck did a great job with this wine. I will enjoy the last two bottles rather soon.

Bourgogne blanc, les Setilles, 2005, Olivier Leflaive Very pale straw with green hints. Tasted straight from a domestic fridge, the nose was very faint but after allowing the wine to lose the chill, there were more hints of toasty oak and a bit of orchard fruit. On the palate, the over-riding impression is of raciness: quite bracing acidity, not a huge mouth-feel, refreshing and with reasonable length. This is quite a contrast to each of the preceding ’03 and ’04 vintages, both of which I found to be “bigger”, fruitier, more buttery wines. By inclination, I would prefer the more elegant style in evidence in the ’05, but I am unconvinced about its balance. Quite good. 84 points.

An excellent wine. Nice acidity and balance to accompany food, with a rich and pleasant nose of pineapple and earthiness. A good example of white Burgundy at a decent price.

Anita: This still has pronounced oak in it. Very silky, elegant, but can’t get around the oak. Almost an 88 because of this. See how it develops in 1-2 years. W/Bri, Tess, Peter S.

Anita: Really seems to have settled down; nice lemon drop notes mixed w/pear and melon; no more oaky stuff going on, soft, elegant, very nicely poised with excellent acidity; all around very good and good style. Relatively simple, but easy to drink and classic. W/ crepes.

Lean, subtle and a bit tight, showing green and yellow apple notes along with some citrus and old butter. Quite focused acidity. Improved greatly when tasted with food - pasta with light cream sauce was ideal.

Bright, light gold. V slightly vegetal, but crisp stone fruit and touches of citrus on the nose - very appealing. Wonderful round mouthfeel; good acidity, great fruit and surprising length. Very well made burg, and always great value for money. I'd always recommend this as an entry level white burgundy for the curious. A house favourite. VG/Ex

My first white burgundy, so I will hold off on a numerical rating as I have no basis for comparison. However, unlike the more new world chards I have had, this was crisp, with sharp acidity and grapefruit/lemon/citrus notes, just a hint of oak and none of the buttery, heavy vanilla that is so prevalent in the cali chards I have had. It still had a full, almost lush mouthfeel that was enjoyable. A totally different experience, and I would be curious to try some of the higher end examples of this region.

Anita: Downgraded--possibly even 88--has definite oak influence, but soft, elegant, screams Burgundy, Good stuff. Will keep track. W/M&D in big Cab glasses.

i bought this because 2005 is reported to be an outstanding vintage in burgundy. thought i would start my exploration here. this wine has not yet been reviewed in this vintage. reviews for previous vintages hover in the low 80's. i guess this is an example of how a rising tide floats all boats since leflaive seems to have done a little better on this go around. nevertheless, it is hard to get excited about this wine. the pale color is a clue to the lack of concentration. having just brought the wine home and giving it a quick chill, it may have been a little bruised. interestingly, a lot of the minerality came through after 15 minutes. good value for the money but not a knock out. i wonder how much has to be spent to be dazzled?

Clear , bright pale yellow. Nose somewhat dumb but mineral bouqet with a little butter, dry citrus flavours on the palate with a clean finish & quite a long pleasant finish. This a well made bourgogne & excellent value. Leflaive back on form again ( the 2004 was also good )

Nose of grapefruit and citrus with a hint of oak. Generally bright acidity with some heat on the relatively short finish. Soft mouthfeel with some interesting minerality/saline notes; a nice little wine that would make a good backbone for a kir. For my money, while not a world beater, this is certainly preferable to some over-the-top New World Chardonnays, and very quaffable. Should be a good match with my goat cheese/pesto pizza.

Time to drink up - getting flabby. Lost its crispness. But has lasted longer than it probably expected.

Boxed In at Craig's (DRC, Leroy, Dugat-Py, Rousseau, Dujac, Kistler, d'Yquem and others): Pale yellow color. The nose yields nothing. The taste is very clean with good balance and plenty of acidity. Some oak is discernable, but this is a subtle touch that compliments the fresh fruit and mineral flavors.
