Ether and plum on the nose. On the palate, currant, black cherry, and notes of plum, black pepper, tobacco, and menthol on the medium to long finish, with moderate to strong tannins and moderate acidity. This was an average to good value at about $80.

From magnum. Deep ruby with reflections of purple, fading just a touch at the rim. An appealingly savory, if not complicated wine, this offers aromas of ripe black fruit, dried mint, topsoil, burnt charcoal, asphalt and a generous amount of oak spice. Medium to full bodied on the palate with medium+ acidity, a medium+ level of slightly firm, slightly chewy but not obtrusive tannins. This is not overdone and really quite good for what it is.

I’m concerned about accuracy of previous reviews. My bottle is not cooked nor corked. Spent 3 hours trying to get something more from this wine every 15 minutes and was left disappointed. This wine needs far more time as it clings onto its tightness with a strong grip. Black cherry is predominant as an initial fruit, touch of raspberry. Tannins come in quick and strong. Leather on the back for the first couple of hours, turning to slightly more limestone and pepper past that. Balance is not quite where it should be. Hopefully just needs more time but at this price range there’s a lot that competes much more strongly. It has potential but it’s difficult to justify.

Really nice cassis, tobacco, limestone and black pepper. Good depth and great flavor combination. Medium acidity, full minus body, medium plus tannins. Drank from a1.5 and it tasted young, good upside.

Far Niente dinner at Boulder. Loads of dark fruit with hints of tar, violet and graphite. Tannins are still front and center as you would expect, but I think time will be beneficial and balance will emerge. 92+

Decanted for two hours. Deep garnet in the glass. Black cherry predominates on the nose with tobacco, cocoa, oak, molasses, and a floral element. Very smooth and easy entry on the palate where the wine slowly reveals dark cherry, leather, cigar box, and cocoa flavors, punctuated with a very brief hint of cherry Life Saver on the finish. Everything here is nicely balanced, from the fruit -- which is not too extracted -- to mild acidity to soft tannins. This is a beautiful, elegant, refined cabernet.

Dark fruit, cherry, earthy. Nicely balanced cab, robust and elegant. Drinking nicely after a decant, can benefit from some more rest.

Just a terrific wine. Dark cherry and cassis. Hints of herbs, leather and chocolate. Extremely smooth on the finish. So well crafted.

Nickel 2014 cc ranch
blue cilantro, Grand Caymen
Amazing! Smooth from the start. Fruit profile, no earthliness. Great bottle.

A little too much sweet oak for me. Nonetheless jammy and easy to drink with tannin and acid in check. With all of the Nickel Cabs needs 3-4 years.
