PnP. Better once it got 30-45 min of air. Deep garnet. Very muted nose. Blackberries, light licorice, and a hint of pepper in the background. Medium/mellow tannins with a hint of acidity up front. Definitely a Crozes off the Galets though with the powdery gravel feel mixed in the finish rather than the solidness of granite. Another 6-12 months and its score will probably improve a bit. Not certain it is quite all the way out of its closed state yet.

PnP, with muted aromas and flavors of black raspberry, tar, and black licorice, with hints of black pepper in the background. A chalky tannic note lingers on the medium finish.

A well balanced wine with lots of soft dark fruit, no need to decant. Blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry , smoke. Smooth tannins. Very enjoyable and good value, this wine is getting even better now, recommended.

Deep dark red in the glass, medium bodied. Nose - not much, little bit of wood polish. Taste - full, but not long. Blackberry, liquorice, spice, nutmeg. Ok/fine, stood up to a carbonnade.

The 2015 iteration of 2015 Jaboulet's Crozes-Hermitage Les Jalets is a deep crimson Syrah that serves up a nice package of black and blue fruit, augmented with notes of licorice, graphite, dark chocolate and smoked meat. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic, softly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13%), it wraps its flavors with medium-weight, dusty tannins. The middle palate thins a bit but the resurrected finish has good lift and is medium in length. For the price, this is a high-quality offering. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years. Drink now-2025.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Dense reddish violet; deep raspberry, hot stones, dusty, violet fruit, plummy, elevated alcohol, blueberry, a bitterness on the back said Grenache to me, fresh, young.
Really nice. Rich dark red. restrained nose. Round ripe berry flavor. Satisfying finish. I already knew that 2015 Northern Rhones would be fine, but my regard for Crozes and for this producer are enhanced.

Solid Crozes-Hermitage. Pours a deep violet, with initial nose of plum and dark fruits, some light sauvage, forest floor, flint and spice, which the palate follows. Drinking fine now, nothing too complex.

A: Deep ruby with purple highlights. High viscosity N: Medium (+) intensity. wet stone, violets, compost, cherry (black), graphite, licorice, barely a bit of pepper. Youthful P: Dry, high tannin, medium (+) acid, high alcohol, pronounced intensity, full body and medium (+) finish C: Good Quality wine but not complex. tannins are too grippy and so i would lay it down and await improvements. It is far too young to drink now.
Guesses: This should have been easy to guess as i brought it and so knew it was on the table but comparing this to other vintages of this wine is like night and day. This is tart and unpleasant right now.

Having this tonight with a poached salmon & morels dish that my wife pulled off. Wine has been open now for an hour and a half, tasting great. Solid aromas of the Northern Rhone, medium body with ample fruit and acidity to match. Big fruit, lots of tannins, flavors lingering on the palate. Is this a "great wine of the world?" Yes actually it doesn't get a lot better than an authentic Northern Rhone Syrah.. Will buy more, love Syrah from the homeland. Food helps this wine, on it's own needs a few years to optimize the grippy and persistant tannins. A lot of wine in tbis wine.
Interestingly, February 10 2018 I am enjoying this bottle again with the same meal! Tasted open and big fruit initially with the food. Only later, on it's own, the tannins and acidity begin to dominate although the fruit is ever present. Simple yet complex, powerful, clearly old world, if you like this sort of thing you will like this wine.

Inky purple Hue. Lovely soft dark fruit and smooth tannin. A very good drinking wine, well balanced with a hint of licorice on the finish. Very good.

Good wine but overpriced in my opinion. Regular northern Rhône notes but with a weaker structure than anticipated.

Dominated by blackberries, licorice and pepper but also with some slightly green notes. Acidity has clear lemon notes and adds some freshness.
