Monday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Air was necessary to fill this out, as it certainly started out a fair bit thin and dilute on the palate. You do get more presence and weight with the air, but the acidity here is dominant and overall it's just not too complex a wine. The vintage was a handicap for sure, but for the price, I think you'd be better off with a bottle of Comtes.

Packed with intense lemon fruit and a touch of green apple. Piercing and refreshing acidity. Has a lot of elegance and depth but keeps improving with air. It is however very lovely to drink right now! Absolutely lovely!

Huh, fascinating to try this against the 12 Clos Cazals and not from my cellar. Lovely BdB, but just seemed more linear by comparison to the Cazals. Still similar to last note otherwise, and really lovely nonetheless.

2015 Produttori & Friends (Nella Kitchen & Bar, Los Olivos, CA): AG warned that this wine had best be enjoyed young, and based on this bottle his advice is spot-on, as the mousse was virtually non-existent. The slightly sherried nose was a disappointment, though there was good fruit and acid, allowing the wine to be a decent accompaniment to our starter.

Not blind A Bit disappointing, missing length and freshness as usually in chetillon. Some hints of tropical fruits , saline . 08 and 09 are much more accessible s as nd with more concentration. 92

Utterly stunning. Such depth and complexity. A wonderful nose. Lots of biscuits and savory notes. Apples. Long finish. Just delightful. I had this twice. First time was very good, second time was utterly superb. Shared with Gim. This felt like it was in its prime

Opened yesterday, and unlike my last btl, this was definitely not corked. Stunning Champagne. On the nose: softly oxidative golden apple, bright lemon, rich vanilla, lime...lovely Chetillons chard! On the palate: fantastic acidity, and stunning depth: preserved lemon, lime, soft vanilla...but just lovely density and mousse. Very long finish. Better on day 2 open.

Weekend Chez K's; 7/30/2020-8/1/2020: Aperitif while awaiting gougeres; lovely green apple, lemon zest, minerality; great energy and freshness, but not austere at all; open and inviting. A lovely wine that still has plenty of life, but is certainly drinking well now.

Light gold, developing colour, fine bead. Some development on the citrusy nose which flits between ripe pomelo and orange. An occasional appearance of a creamy mushroom element. Palate follows with citrus dominant on the front palate, surprisingly dense and slightly creamy texture, buttressed by firm acidity. Through the middle and back palate this begins to show some drier savoury elements, still a touch of chalk, but also red apple skin. Finishes quite long.
Just beginning to mature and open up. Not absolutely what I’d expect from this cuvée at this point, but certainly from the same family. Should open up further in the next couple of years.

Quite nice in light of the tough vintage conditions. Mineral driven sea shells, lime, very good tension and clean finish. A dense quality to the fruit, although wine more driven by structure relative to the fruit.

It is still relatively young to consume but overall 2010 is a less complex vintage, rather elegant and feminine but not showing too many layers and not as chalky/ mineral as his other vintages for Chetillons. I prefer 2008 vintage a lot more. White flowers, lemon peel, grapefruits on the nose and the palate, modest minerality with a touch of grapefruits bitterness on the finish. No disgorgement date on the bottle.

Bottle brought by a friend, and I got to finish the last glass tonight. When we initially opened it, the wine was effusively bready. It was like being in the proofing room of a pastry shop. On the palate there was the same doughy richness that was immediately cut by razor sharp acids. It was quite the contrast. Fast forward to Night two, and the doughy/bread aspects had calmed, but the acids were just as bright.
This needs time. Lots of time.

Very different than other vintages of this that I've had. Very doughy, like a fresh croissant and backed by subtle yellow fruit, floral, and mineral notes. This is missing much of the red apple skin notes and electric charge that I typically find in this wine. Delicious still, but certainly in need of more time.

In which we made our own L'Etonnant M. Victor (Chicago, IL): I quite liked this, though it was a little bit of a laggard behind the 2008 (which was showing just brilliantly today). This has a bit of the leanness and mineral cut that I remember tasting the 2008 when it was released, but it seems to be much better integrated and less angular. It's not overly thin either, and it's not an acid bomb -- there's a nice touch of fruit and sweetness here that rounds it out.

Out of Magnum. Somewhat dull of a Chetillons right now. To me, still a bit tight, didn't really want to open up and give over the two hours it was served. Was definitely the crowd favorite though. Probably needs a few years.

Small Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Dinner (S.K.Y. Restaurant - Chicago IL): Started off very tight and tart, albeit powerful. Opened and got richer after 15-20 minutes. Lots of apple and pear with some spice hints that eventually gave this a soft, rounded edge for Blanc de Blancs. Long and powerful. Certainly better to cellar for a few years and then enjoy medium term, 2020 forward.

A very solid offering. Not as evolved as we expected it to be but that is not bad thing. Lemony, light honey, ripe apple notes. Yeasty feel round wine but with a firm solid core. Very solid 91
SLDS September 2017: Lemon, pear, apple and some soapy florals. Fresh and lifted palate, plenty of verve and spark. Good depth and it should take on more complexity with age.
