First off, this is way better than the 2015. Like on a totally different planet.
The wine needs at least an hour to open up. Still tannic, but absolutely drinkable now. I love the acid level here...quite high. Dark cherries and blackberries, forest floor, shaved mushrooms, a hint of spice on the finish, but oak well integrated.
I had very low expectations for this after opening the 2015 recently...which was high in oak, alcohol poking through, and no complexity. But, this 2016 is everything the 2015 isn't (thankfully). Drink 2024 (with a decant) - 2038. 92 points.

Deep garnet with a hint of purply ruby color. The nose is surprisingly soft out of the gate, but starts to open up with air and as the temperature warms a little from the cellar. This wine takes its time to start showing red cherries, fresh tobacco, and espresso. Add a little bitter dark chocolate when you sip. There also seems to be a bit of oak still trying to integrate. On the fuller end of medium bodied. The finish holds nicely with red cherries at the forefront, though the final notes show slightly bitter chocolate and whispers of oak the most. There is a dusty freshness here that's quite nice, but I think it needs a little more time resting in the cellar before prime time. My memory is that this was a bargain bordeaux.

A wine I’d let sit another year or two to round off the rough edges. Poured, found it a bit tannic and closed, so decanted and drank with a garlic-marinated red meat. The wine opened up into a pleasing palate of peppercorns and black fruit. But, the fruit was muted and a year or two should help that along. A bit rough-hewn still, but nicely drinkable with a bit of aeration.

Opened this last night. Purple-red, throwing a fine sediment. Rich nose of mulberry, plum, and black fruits. Good mineral spice too. Really quite fine in the mouth, smooth as glass, good ripeness and heft. Finishes long and savory. Young but drinkable with slow ox (15 hrs. in this case). Fell a little short of my last bottle earlier this month. 4-12-16-8: 90/100.

Popped and poured. Healthy dark garnet, throwing a fine sediment. After a period in the doldrums, this seems to have come alive again. Tonight is rich, very flavorful with loads of beautiful fruit in both nose and mouth. Nice mixture of red and black fruit, and very unctuous and rich on the palate--pure liquid velvet, but also thick, with chewy tannins too. This bottle is a beauty, and for the first time in a while, reminds me why I decided to buy a whole case when I first tasted it. 5-12-17-9: 93/100.

Dark red core. Very ripe plums, blackberries, creamy/lactic and oak notes on the nose. Very ripe fruit in a modern style, tannins, not enough acid, and lacking energy on the palate but not quite flabby. Medium finish. Good to very good but a disappointment for a wine that’s garnered a lot of positive reviews from a top vintage.

I've drunk a few of these since purchase. Even after being left open overnight in the cellar, the wines (this bottle included) remain tight and largely unyielding. Mineral, earth, and a bit of anise, that is about it for now. I'd say five years minimum for this to really show much. 5-12-15-8: 90/100

After 2 days open in bottle in the cellar. Saturated dark red. Mulberry, lead pencil and iron on the nose. Still quite tannic and rustic palate impression. But there is loads of fruit underneath. Just needs time to evolve. 5-12-15-9: 91/100.

Dark in colour, lovely nose - dark berry fruit, flowers, spices. On the palate generous fruit, ripe tannins, good acidity. Fine length. Approachable but likely to improve. Very good! 91-93

Very dark and throwing a fine sediment. Minty and sort of ethereal nose; for a wine that was left open overnight, not showing much. Richer in the mouth with good fruit, I think this may be in a bit of a dumb phase at the moment. Good, but not as good as earlier bottles. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

Opened last night and left in the bottle in the cellar to air overnight. Saturated dark, dark red. Surprisingly little in the way of purple highlights, although this is, after all, nearly 7 years old. Air has done this a world of good, even if it continues to drink like a juvenile. Just transitioning from primary to tertiary. Herbs, red fruit, and vanilla aromas. Vanilla is stronger in the mouth--much stronger. I think this has the fruit to overcome the oak, but it IS a little worrisome. Time will tell. For now, it seems to be in a bit of an awkward phrase, so I'm withholding scoring this for now. I hope this trims the oaky notes, since I bought a whole case.

Popped and poured. Bloody, thick, rich, dark red color with stained glass. Lovely chocolate, chunky, minerally fruit already starting to show after fifteen minutes or so. Same in the mouth, but much more muted by tannin and alcohol. This will require a few more years to show its best, but already approachable with decanting or airing. Very good value for sure. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.

Decanted for about three hours, this was pretty awesome. Nice, full ruby-magenta color. Good red legs. Excellent floral aromas waft from the glass. Feminine fruit. This has significant tannin, but it is chewy and fine-grained. Very nice fruit in the mouth. This wine can be drunk now if decanted (especially if served with food) or will last at least 15-20 years. Great wine for the money. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

Red and black currants, truffles, cherries, spice, and tobacco open the wine. Medium-bodied, elegant, lifted, and fresh, on the palate, the tannins are crisp, the fruits are ripe, sweet, and firm, with a spicy, savory edge in the finish. Drink from 2026-2046.

PnP. Drank over two evenings. This reminded me of a bottle of 2014 Leoville Barton opened several years ago. Somewhat backwards, minimal oak signature, same dark fruit profile, hidden complexity. Although this is a bit more open, with more fruit showing at this stage, the same thought about L-B occurred to me both nights.

This represents a very good deal for the region (I paid like $35) and expresses the vintage very well, without being overly acidic or "midrange" like a number of 2016s have seemed to me. Medium-bodied, good fruit and balanced tannins and acids, I can see this going on to become a delicious midweek claret in like 5 years. Good at the table. Just doesn't have enough stuffing or complexity to ever be a truly exciting wine. But not all wines need to be exciting.
2016 Siran Wow! This wine has mellowed since I had it last year. Are you factoring in price? Because if you are, this is a substantial QPR. When I drank this wine last year I was a little concerned that I had misread its early promise. It was awkward, gawky, adolescent. But, of course, that should in no way be surprising. This wine is a very, very beautiful Margaux food wine, big, tannic, fruity, bold, but has definitely "settled down." Wow, I loved this wine, it may even be better than the '15. This wine will survive many blanquitoes. Love it. Rating: 93 points.
By the glass. Bottle opened the night before. Dusty matt black colour. Timid berries yogourt in red and black also with notes of black plums and stubble from the forest floor. Good complexity. The meatiness of the Merlot grapes stands out in the mouth with a delicate texture and a good balance in this aging phase. Large, tasty and long. It can only get better when ripe. Great vintage for this Château.
I think this is already showing better than the one I had over a year ago. This is certainly showing its youth, and while the tannins are stiff there is plenty of attractive aspects already showing well - there's a nice creamy aspect, and some creme de casis. Great value, that will only improve. Caseworthy really at $30ish plus tax.

Currently, this one needs a half-day or more in the decanter to get beyond its youth. We began to drink it at about the 2-3 hour point and although the nose was richly floral, it wasn’t ready for the palate yet; lots of graphite and a little bit of berry, and not much integration between the two. Another 1-2 hours later, there was better integration but still a sense of immaturity. I have had better success with other left-bank 2016 bottles, though not at this low price point (~$33). Strong potential, but too young now.

Deep purple in the glass. Oak, dark red fruit, hints of cedar and perfume with a bit of sweetness on the nose. Medium bodied, soft, ripe red fruit, plum, touch of floral and spice on the palate. This is an incredible value from a top vintage in Bdx.
Trade tasting. Had only a thimbleful of this. Aromatic with beautiful blue fruits, plums, flowers, currants, cassis and graphite hints. Its elegant freshly fruited nicely oaked satiny blue and red fruits palate has lovely depth. Ends longish, fresh and tapering with nice grip. 14%. Decent value at around 30 Euros. Lay down 5-10 years+. I think this could be a 93 with more aeration and or lay down
Popped and poured. Remarkably approachable already. But plenty of stuffing for the long haul. Absolutely gorgeous dark ruby-violet color that is totally opaque. Nose is filled with opulent fruit including red raspberry, blackberry and mulberry. Feminine nose. More reticent in the mouth due to a tannic wall it still promises great things to come. As soon as I tasted this I ordered a whole case. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.
very good value at $30. a very balanced wine. cassis with a touch of red fruit as well, vanilla, savory herbs, turned earth, and crushed stone. mod acid and tannin which should let this improve. i think this will drink really well in the 8-12 year range.
At pnp very closed in the nose and on the palate. Opens up after ½ hour. Concentrated fruit on the palate, surely not unfolded yet. Enjoyable, but I will wait a few years until opening the remaining bottles. At this point 88-90P
Very dark and glossy. Oak, red/dark fruit, spices, ground coffee on the nose. Well balanced on the palate, plenty of fruit, good acidity, grippy tannins towards the finish. Medium depth and length, but very well made. Hold. 90-91+
Very pretty dark garnet. Vanillin, red berries, and wood on the nose. A bit thin-bodied with Indian spices, mixed berries, Notes of strong oak, and some cumin in the finish.
Deep in color the wine pops with oak, licorice, smoke, red fruits and espresso. The wine is medium-bodied, round delivers tobacco, licorice and dark, red pit fruit in the finish. Give this 7-8 years and pop a cork on the best value in the Margaux appellation.
Nice deep garnet almost purple color. Long, medium fast moving legs. Lots of fruit in the nose and the longer it is open, the more spice comes through. Dark red fruit both in the nose and the taste. Strong tannins and good structure. Very dry. Round, medium full body. I like this wine a lot right now. But, it feels like it will get better. Not sure for how long but at this price, it is a bargain.
Despite decanting for a few hours this was monstrous initially, but the last glass really showed its potential and class. This strikes me as a really great value buy for the long haul if you can forget about it till around 2026. 93+pts.

Decanted for three hours. Very feminine and extremely layered, with a concentrated middle palate, along with a fine, plush entry. The finish glides for awhile, and the microfiber tannins are very present, but desirable. Plum, spice cake, ripe black cherry, licorice, flower shop and granite. Absolutely scrumptious at this young age, and unfolds like a diva. Decant for some time or wait a few years. Drink 2023 -.
Medium-bodied, round and open, this wine delivers tobacco, licorice and dark, red pit fruit both in the nose and on the palate, with a softly textured, elegant finish. The wine was produced from blending 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
A good vintage for Petit Verdot and Siran welcomes you with its quotient of that grape... It has apparently the highest percentage of that grape in the southern Medoc, with a new winemaker: Marjolaine de France. It has copious tannin and spice but is it really ... Margaux in an elegant sense? 88-90+

Perfect Jillian and Andrew wine. Did not decant. Would benefit. Opened up after 30 minutes. High tannins. Good tobacco, cherry, and cedar.
Chewy mouthfeel. Very nice wine.
