  • Nice and ready to drink. Beautiful concentration on the fruit and impressive length in the finish. 91 P

  • First off, this is way better than the 2015. Like on a totally different planet.

The wine needs at least an hour to open up. Still tannic, but absolutely drinkable now. I love the acid level here...quite high. Dark cherries and blackberries, forest floor, shaved mushrooms, a hint of spice on the finish, but oak well integrated.

I had very low expectations for this after opening the 2015 recently...which was high in oak, alcohol poking through, and no complexity. But, this 2016 is everything the 2015 isn't (thankfully). Drink 2024 (with a decant) - 2038. 92 points.

  • This has added some depth since a year ago, nice balance, medium body, decent finish. Very good.

  • Deep garnet with a hint of purply ruby color. The nose is surprisingly soft out of the gate, but starts to open up with air and as the temperature warms a little from the cellar. This wine takes its time to start showing red cherries, fresh tobacco, and espresso. Add a little bitter dark chocolate when you sip. There also seems to be a bit of oak still trying to integrate. On the fuller end of medium bodied. The finish holds nicely with red cherries at the forefront, though the final notes show slightly bitter chocolate and whispers of oak the most. There is a dusty freshness here that's quite nice, but I think it needs a little more time resting in the cellar before prime time. My memory is that this was a bargain bordeaux.

  • A wine I’d let sit another year or two to round off the rough edges. Poured, found it a bit tannic and closed, so decanted and drank with a garlic-marinated red meat. The wine opened up into a pleasing palate of peppercorns and black fruit. But, the fruit was muted and a year or two should help that along. A bit rough-hewn still, but nicely drinkable with a bit of aeration.
