An easy afternoon with close friends. (By BV @ PdV): Bouquet with a lot of lactic, metal and candy impressions; still very youthful. On the palate creamy yoghurt, juicy, good acidity, and round tannin. The wine is still very youthful. Probably wise to wait at least until 2028 before uncorking a bottle. 92 - 93++

This is still quite youthful with superb grippy intensity to go along with the ripe dark red fruit. A voluminous wine with good acidity and verve along with firm but opulent tannins. A classic iron fist in a velvet gove and I love this for mid-term aging. This is a Chateau I've avoided in the past but not anymore. Shows best now with 3-hour decant and a charred steak. 93+

I hadn't tasted any recent vintage of this wine and so was pretty shocked at how impressive it was. Not an understated Margaux by any means with rich blackberry fruit and an opulent, velvety texture but there are lovely terroir-driven notes of violet spice and sweet earth that lead to a grippy tannic finish. The tannins are so fine though providing a classic example of a velvet glove in an iron fist. While still youthful, it can be thoroughly enjoyed now with a barbequed steak to ameliorate the tannins. It's ripe with a bit of jam on the finish but this stays on the right side of things and is seriously delicious. 93+

In figuring this one hadn't totally reached its potential, I decanted for 10 hours. That is uncharacteristically preplanned for me! When we sat to enjoy, the wine had a neutral pleasant nose. In tasting, it was smooth, not harsh at all, with slight hints of bing cherry, nutmeg, and chalk. Overall very pleasant.

This wine was more ready to drink than I expected. Decanted about an hour before drinking. Wine was extremely well integrated and the alcohol was well hidden. The wine showed the finesse one expects from Margaux. Wine didn’t have a lot of tannins but is excellent and drinking very well now

Classic bordeaux, dark ruby, balanced and still tannic. Youthful and still require a bit more ageing. Fruity and lactic, yet slightly astringent. Smooth and good perfume of fruits and oak.

By the glass. Bottle open the night before. Pitch black. Aromas of blackberries with balsamic notes such as liquorice and roasted coffee. There is a tannic wall that prevents enjoying this wine in the mouth. Very dense, tarry texture. Total absence of any refinement and doubtful depth by such a quantity of wood. Almost five years on and the good thing still to be expected.
Por copas. Botella abierta la noche anterior. Color negro profundo.
Part of SWG tasting. On initial opening this came forth with strong fruit-forward notes. In fact I and one other thought if we did not know better we might think this was new world (not CA, but perhaps WA). With time in the glass however, tannin and associated depth and structure began to be revealed. I got more savory notes; still with strong red fruits, but a lot more going on. Some did not detect the tell tale flowery notes of Margaux. One who had decanted earlier in the day did get some; once prompted I though I got some notes of violet. My takeaway is that this can be enjoyed now, but will definitely improve with some age -- I would want to revisit in perhaps five years. I still have a bit in the bottle from the day before -- will try this evening and update this note if necessary.

I opened it out of curiosity to see whether I should buy more. But, it is still way too young to judge. It needs at least until 2025 to be drinkable and make a proper judgment.

Nice wine for 93 points. Drank without decanting, so may not be giving it a fair shot since it's so young. Medium bodied, medium acidity, and drinkable. Not as fruit forward as the 2016 Clerc Milon, which is comparably priced. The Clerc Milon is far preferable, however, for the money. Overall, very reasonable wine.

There is certainly a lot going in in Bordeaux (and Bourgogne) and it seems as if every chateau is heading in the direction for 100 pts. What will happen when every producer receives full, or close to full, score a good year?
Anyway, I have had the 2010 of this wine, but this is something else. Wonderful nose right out of the gates, and wonderful, ripe, fruit on the palate. Opened on Tuesday, double decanted on Saturday 12.00 and consumed at ca 19.00, but this, however would have benefited from 2-3 additional hours of decanting. I will score this wine 93, but I would not object if someone scored it 95 or so.

Delayed note; purchased for $68 and tasted young for potential cellar purchase. Amazing evolution and integration over extended decanting and drinking period (~4 hours). Incredibly complex and rewarding blend of dark fruit, wet rocks, and potting soil, among other flavors. This wine helped me understand the reverence that some people have for Margaux. Planned cellar purchase.

Medium (+) taste of dark cherry, dark plum, blackcurrant, leather, cedar, black pepper and forest floor. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium tannins. Medium body. Red and black currant, cedar, cinnamon, earth, saturated black cherry, warm leather, and some higher-toned floral and bitter blackberry seed. An old world profile with a somewhat deeper pitched mid-palate that helps in the attempt at flavor expansion. Finishes a bit simple and at times a little thin, with the earthy cedar note clipping the fruit on the tail.
Decanted for a couple of hours, which helped, but it stayed in second gear most of the time. The forgettable back end lacked some energy to hold interest at this stage. Give this another 3+ years to hopefully elongate its delivery of flavor. Try again in 2023+. 91-92+ points

UGC 2019 Los Angeles (Jeremy Hotel, West Hollywood): Another wine that really hit my palate right. Beautiful Margaux perfume showing good mix of earth and fruit.
