‘Gewürztraminer from the Alsace is always a complex item. At first I am impressed by the intens and unique palet of aroma’s, mineral, oily, with a long finish and with an Oriental touch. But after a second glass I suddenly get fed up with it. Even when from a respectable producer like Hugel.

Colour: slight yellow Nose: very very floral, lychee, sweet lemon Palate: some sweetness with lemon and light medium body. Acid is not very strong but still balance and holding up well. Very nice

Palate: just barely off dry, medium- acid, medium+ alcohol (13%), medium+ body, medium+ intensity, some phenolic bitterness, long finish, yellow plum, apricot, mango, tangerine, lychee, candied lemon peel, rose, candied ginger, anise, smoke, dried mango, dried apricot.
Overall: A beautifully aromatic, complex, and developed Gewürztraminer. The florals are still strong, and the fruit is starting to move into the dried camp. Delicious tertiary flavors of smoke, ginger, and spices are now in great balance with the slightly tropical golden fruits and the classic rose. A little low on acid, but this is an Alsace Gewürztraminer, so that is correct for the style. Super interesting, and with a great finish. A highly undervalued wine that ages surprisingly well in the medium-term.

56th TWIGS Meeting (KC and Molly's place): Served blind. Cork. 13% alc. Pale straw. Lychee, honey, white flowers - like jasmine and murraya. The palate is so floral. There’s good intensity here. It's got some sweetness also, but it’s carried beautifully by the weight and structure.

Sunday blinds (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Lychees = gewurztraminer. There's just nothing else to discuss here. Feels young enough (perhaps 5 years?). A touch cloying and more alcohol on the back end than I care for. A pretty typical gewurztraminer, which isn't really a great thing at the end of the day.

One of the best dry gewurz producer in the Alsace and the Classic delivers. Light yellow in the glass, aromatic nose of floral and tropical fruit notes, palate is dry, notes of lychee lead, agave nectar, apricot, limestone minerality and a medium finish. Very nice.

Clean developing nose with pronounced intensity. There are distinct notes of honeysuckle, lychee and rose petal.
The wine is dry (a little RS but not more than 9g/L) with medium acidity, medium alcohol, and medium body. The flavours are pronounced and follow the nose with notes of honeysuckle, rose petal, rose water, lychee and very subtle cinnamon. The cinnamon note was not detected on the nose. The finish has a medium(+) length.
This is a very good quality wine. The flavours are very concentrated and have a great balance with the alcohol and the acidity. The wine is simple, only showing primary characteristics, but has a great varietal expression, is very enjoyable, and has a finish with great length.
The wine should be consumed now, before it passes its peak.

Cellier Wine Fair 2017 (Hilton Athenaum Hotel): More fruity than floral, well balanced in the palate, easy, straightforward, ight, med spicy finish. Would be great to have by the glass

Gratis BTG pour at the Intercontinental in Singapore, and I would happily have payed for the pleasure. Rose and lychee made the grape obvious, and the mostly dry palate conveyed the flavors through the mid-palate and finish. A really pleasant glass of wine.

Pale yellow colour. Intense aromas of exotic fruits, distinct flavours of pomelo citrus both on the nose and the palate. Little hint is to serve the wine slightly above the recommended temperature. Let it breathe and warm up a little bit, closer to a room temperature. It will better show its complex profile. Dry, medium body, medium acidity. Much better vintage than the previous one. Classy Alsacian Gewürztraminer.
