What a difference a couple of years makes. This was stored in a passive cellar at around ~63 degrees temperature which might have helped it develop a bit faster. I remember the last bottle being too okay but now it's all integrated and just gorgeous and in balance lovely classic Napa Cab. PnP'd and outright delicious.

Two hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Black cherry syrup, anise, baker’s chocolate, and sweet tobacco on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Full, lower intensity tannins on the medium long finish. This is traditional, but really great for the money.
Had a couple of glasses of this at a small gathering with some friends. This had been open the previous evening and there was about 2/3rds of the bottle left. I found this to be soft, friendly, and round with plenty of fruit and a fairly prominent oak profile. Overall, an enjoyable Napa Cabernet that delivers everything one would expect of an Napa appellation Cabernet from a quality producer.

Picked this up at Costco last fall. Great QPR. Groth is always so consistently good. Everything you want from a solid Napa Cab. Chewy tannins. Great concentrated fruit. The Merlot in the mix adds a little softness. Better on day two. Paired with mushroom and sausage pasta one night, and meat lovers pizza on night two. Time to pick up a 2016!

Well I almost waited a year certainly a nice cab probably not worth the price but that's my particular taste. Had with my wife's homemade gnocci so can't blame the food because the gnocci rocked

Fabulous QPR if compared to other "regular" Napa Cabs currently available on the market. This is still very young in appearance, with nuances of purple. The nose is super sexy and youthful, with lots of exotic fruits and vanilla; reminding me of treasured times when I was opening a box of multi-coloured fruit flavour Chiclets Gum...a long time ago. On the palate, you get some spices, black and red berries, toast and black licorice on the finish. Long and balanced, this is an great buy. Drink now or cellar for another 3-5 years, but why wait when it's so delicious now.
Tasted side by side with the 2016 Reserve, this one was more open and ready to drink than the big brother who obviously has a bright future.

Very solid Oakville, with blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry, dried violets, cedar, pepper, espresso, dark chocolate and graphite. The palate is full-bodied and rich with dark spicy fruit, savory spices and herbs and dusty earth. The tannins are nicely refined and the finish slightly spicy. Enjoy now over the next 5-10 years.

I agree with Jayarr, austere , balanced but very little fruit showing through. It had that Oakville acidity but, missing depth. It had a short finish. Maybe age will help.

Tasted blind. Dark ruby red with a reflective edge. The nose gives off smoky, mentholated notes of dark and red berries. The palate is full-bodied with medium plus acidity that balances the ripe dark cherry, blackberries and raspberry core with secondary notes of dark chocolate, cola and vanilla bean. Finishes long and savory with a hint of spice. Drink now until 2030. 92+

Pretty austere with very little fruit. It was better the second day but I wasnt impressed and was even a bit disappointed. The balance was ok but the finish was average and didnt think it had much of a nose.

@ Westbank Grill JH with waygu steak and venison milanese (which was great & innovative). Good wine but tough QPR. Nice fruit, good balance decent finish. Petered out after 2 hours. The Jordan 2016 (same price range we had earlier in week was better).

Drank this on memorial day. A few bottles in so no formal tasting notes. I bought this on sale for $32 at Costco. It's been a while since I drank the regular Groth cab and I typically like it in the $40-$50 range. This was not as good as I remember although this was a PNP and I think it needed time to open up. It was lacking substance. I drank a 2014 Groth Reserve (paid $70) a few weeks before this and it was significantly better. Also drank a 2012 Sbragia moon mountain that same night which was much better. I don't think I would revisit this.

Already very drinkable and approachable. I think it is a better value (QPR) than Reserve. Not as much “in your face” type of other Cabs from Napa. All the typical aromas and flavors are present that we are used to from mid flight Napa Cab

A big and dark CS. Powerful with black fruit, oak and plum. A touch of heat on the nose. Very nice, but still fairly tannic even after 3 hours of decanting. Quite the deal for $38 at our Costco though. Excellent QPR. I may still pick up another few bottles and lay them down for a while.

Benchmark Oakville Cabernet. Aromas of dark black cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant, chocolate, black pepper, leather and a little smokiness. The palate was full-bodied, medium tannins and lush with sweet black and dark red fruit along with sweet baking spices, liquorice and an easy elegant finish. Not for long ageing this is ready to go now. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot aged for 22 months in oak.
