Popped and poured and enjoyed over dinner for an hour or so. Still retains good structure, but is settling into darker fruit, oak, and herby notes. Worked well with food and on its own. We have a few more from this year, so looking forward to seeing how/if they progress.

Back in the 90's and early 2000s these were our go-to for special occasions. Now, not so much. Blackberry, bell pepper, medium bodied, oak. Maybe it's my palate or maybe it simply needs more time in bottle or could be it's the recipe for this price point, but one thing for sure, I no longer look forward to Silver Oak. The fruit is not extracted enough.

Deep ruby in the glass. Pronounced aromas of black fruit, black berrry and cherry with vanilla and clove. High acidity and tannins, even after a 2 hour decant. Flavors of black fruit and oak. Always an easy to drink wine.

An appropriate bottle to celebrate Halloween with especially with the spooky label graphics: ghost colored scene with a splash of blood red for the vintage year. On the nose: initially a fresh cherry pie filling but morphs to darker fruits within an hour after pop. Some aromatic complexity begins to be revealed: black tea, wilted plants and dusty library stacks. Palate mirrors adding that characteristic and slightly bitter dill note. Clean fresh mouthfeel with light to medium body (for a cab). Some very mild tannins remain with some acidity as well. Mild finish. This wine is like that friend you bring to parties - not the most attractive, nor the most witty or clever, never telling mind-blowing stories of excess or grandeur, but everyone likes this friend because they are simply very agreeable! Not expensive by Napa standards, but QPR hunters should seek other grounds. One thing I always respected about Silver Oak is that they only offer one wine: their best and only! Yes, they have their inexpensive Sonoma offering, but I contend that it's a different wine entirely. Solid 91. *Silver Oak founded in 1972 by Raymond Twomey Duncan and Justin Meyer. (Duncan bought out Meyer's share in 2000). They own their own vines and even have their own cooperage!

Opened a bottle last night and I get a lot of strong green notes on the nose. The color is still youthful and dark red. The first sip let me know that this is a good wine but give it an hour to open at least. The palate is filled with cheery, light chocolate and a good amount of tannins with little signs of aging. It's been awhile since I have had Silver Oak and I was pleased that this was a good experience. On a QPR, I think better wines can be had for the money. I did give it a 93 though LOL .

PnP. Plum colored, to cherry at the edge. Nose is earthy, with red fruit. Palate also leans to red fruit, maybe cherry, raspberry, milk chocolate, tobacco leaf, hint of caramel, reasonably well integrated, with the fruit a notch too high in the mix. Full bodied, with a reasonably long finish, slightly tannic. Overall, a very pleasant drinking experience, and although it's not an inexpensive bottle of wine, it's not massively overpriced for the quality of the drinking experience.

Starting to drink nicely! Tried a few months ago and this wasn’t ready yet. Will probably be better/great in another 12 months. Typical signature Silver Oak taste.

Deep garnet color, vibrant red edge. Nose of oak, leather and red fruit. Slightly tart on the palate, but medium weight and just a hint of spice on the finish. Overall, excellent quality as always, a good crowd pleaser. I do feel that this may be just a tad overpriced for this, as in this range I prefer Stag's or Pine Ridge or Shafer.

Silver Oak Healdsburg Tasting Experience (Silver Oak Cellars Healdsburg, Ca.): Tasting Silver Oak Healdsburg (Silver Oak Cellars Healdsburg, Ca.): Nose of black berry, and mocha, same on the palate, very tight, even unyielding today, opened slowly over the 2 hour visit, big body, last place today, nothing wrong just needs time to develop, maybe 5 years, mouth filling fruit, soft tannins present, long finish.

Bottle 1 of a half case. Good bones but needs some time to integrate. If drinking now - needs some air for perhaps an hour or so....delicious now.....better in a few years.

Tasting Silver Oak Healdsburg (Silver Oak Cellars Healdsburg, Ca.): Nose of black berry, strawberry, raspberry, and cigar box, same on the palate, fairly fruit forward today, much rounder than previously tasted, big body, very tasty, tied with the 2016 Alexander Valley today, needs 3 years to peak, might merit a higher score then, mouth filling fruit, opened better and better, became more briary after one hour mark, soft tannins present today helped the complexity on the mid palate and the long finish, lovely aftertaste.

This wine has is rich with raspberry taste and aroma. I enjoyed a ribeye steak and a baked potato. You can taste the tannings which should age the wine gracefully.

Served by host, Tom, at an intimate dinner gathering. Nose: Medium intensity, dark fruit, new shoe leather, and spice. Palate: Medium-full bodied, showing it's youth with pretty big tannins, dark fruit and Asian spice dominate the palate. There's a lot to offer to here, just needs a couple years to integrate.
