Blue and purple fruit, soft forest floor earthiness, a hint of cinnamon. Pretty typical Languedoc/Rhône style blend but more serious and structured than I expected. Medium + body, medium + acid, medium tannin. Decent finish for the price range. Drinking well and probably fine for a couple more years. Benefits from a short decant. Nicely balanced and good value for sure. 6-6.5/10

Enjoyed over two days. Purple and blue fruited precision, featuring a wholly agreeable fleshy and pithy element, reminiscent of chewing a mixed handful of açaí and blueberry (flavor profile), and slightly under ripe blackberry (acid). Cracked peppercorns and herbs, with underpinning meatiness. Also showing a liquefied crushed rock element, partially tannin imparted. There is an energy to it, akin to an electric jolt. Excellent acid and balance, the 14.5 abv imperceptible. Oak is a non-factor here (non-obtrusive), thankfully. Back to back incredible vintages of this offering. This vintage might be marginally fuller than the 2015. Rock solid, crazy good QPR!

An unspecified blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, this deep ruby wine flaunts a core of dark bramble fruits accented with Provençal herbs, dark plums and licorice. Medium-bodied, fresh and with nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it has subtle oak and soft tannins. Solid on the mid-palate and closing with a smooth, medium-length finish, this represents tremendous value. Serve it (or gift it) to your friends who enjoy old world reds. Drink now-2021.

Bright purple color. Smells of old black cherries, plums, gushing fruit, mixed with sweet violets, roses, sweet coffee and rich earth. Plump and juicy on the palate but some medium tannins and fresh acidity keeps it together well. Smoky charcoal and grilled herbs accent the chewy plums and black cherry fruit. I get notes of violets, loamy soil, clove. Lots going on here for the price. Syrah, Grenache and Carignan.

I had the 2015 vintage of this wine earlier in the week and liked it so much I went to get more. I grabbed a bottle from the shelf and didn't realize until I got home and pulled the cork that I bought the 2016. So this was an interesting comparison. It's hard to pick a favorite. Both from great vintages, this is pretty much a mirror image of the 2015. I can't imagine this bottling getting much better than what was produced in 2016. Really good stuff and a great value.
