Splash decant and drink immediately as a last second substitute for an underperforming wine. Interesting what age does for a moderately priced Malbec. Tones down the fruit but added complexity. Still has good body and balance improved. Nice fragrant nose (mostly fruit) and decent length to the finish. Holding up well.

Easy drinking, smooth and balanced. Well made. Lots of dark fruit. Drinking good right now. I don't think this will gain any in the future. Did not decant. Not that i am an expert on this wine but it seems to lack complexity and depth. Not real interesting to me. It is well made and enjoyable. Drink now.

My last bottle. Popped and poured. Clear dark purple. Nose of blackberry, plum, fig, menthol, and earth. Full ripe palate of blackberry, black cherry, plum, and minerals. Wonderful length. Refreshing acidity. Tannins have really receded. Oak is integrated. Probably drinking as well as it is going to. Will likely go downhill.

Beautiful bouquet with blackberries and smoky oak. On the palate juicy black fruits again, soft but still firm tannin, good bitterness and a beautiful balance between a good dose of sweetness and acidity. Ready now, but enough power for at least another 4+ years.

OK, I had this two years ago and liked it. This time, not so much. Not a flawed bottle, just heavy, dark, woody and lifeless. Not compelling to me in any way this time.

A wonderful nose of dark berries, and a graphite aspect. Very inviting. Remarkably restrained yet with nice complexity. So silky smooth on the palate. Tannins are well integrated, and the dark fruit is laced with graphite and stoniness. Delicious.

Our last bottle. Nose is wonderful, full of red and black berries. Amazingly primary for a seven year old Mendoza malbec. Mid-to-full body. Very silky in the mouth. More secondary flavors in the mouth (unlike the nose). Very long lasting in the back of the mouth. Drinking this after dinner on a Saturday night, but it would still go wonderfully with a steak - it still has the backbone to cut the fat. Oh so pleasant!

Wow, drinking wonderfully for the age. This had tremendous structure and depth. Lasted for a very long time. As much as we have enjoyed drinking this over the years, this is even better now. Wish we were not down to the last of the six bottles that we bought, because this is just so nice.

Decanted 3 hours. Beautiful violet color. Paired with NY strip steaks. A floral nose that fills the room. This wine was all about the finish, not giving up much early or on the midpalate, Well integrated tannins paired nicely with the beef. Above average malbec, but not worth the money.

Haven't had a bottle of this wine in a couple of years. Served to out of town guests with dinner, AFTER the excellent 2004 Flor de Pingus. This was definitely WOTN for me. Didn't take notes, but was blown away by how much it had improved since I had it last. It was just bursting with beautiful, sweet ripe fruit and a laser beam of delicious acidity. Wow.

Gorgeous, perfumy nose of violets, lavender, and blackberry, with peppery brown spices. Still young and tightly wound in the mouth: black fruit, some brambly barnyard-y tobacco-y leathery notes. Tannins are very prominent, but not too much; they give nice structure. A serious wine with a future.

Powerful nose of oak, coffee, plums and earth, even some blood notes right after opening. Similar profile on the palate with the addition of blackberries; the mid palate shines with good acidity and creamy mouthfeel. Oaky but well integrated, really nice wine. Decanting did smooth. This was actually tastier on its own that with steak and cheeses. About 1/3 left for the next nigh: smoothed out nicely, it was less oaky and some sour cherries made a good addition to the taste. Finish was good, and medium+ length, unusual for malbecs. This is around 90-91 points.

Outstanding after a 2 to3 hour decant, with violets, jammy fruit, tar, with firm but round tannins. I felt this wine had been overhyped, but it lives up to the billing and is probably the best Malbec I've had.

Decanted 1hr, two words describe this wine dark and smooth. Dark color, dark fruits and very smooth, with just a hint of smoke, earth and tar to add complexity to this black beauty. Made for a juicy grilled steak, sadly my last bottle.

Similar to previous note, but this bottle was much rounder than the last, with little acidity. Tannin was pretty well integrated too. Giving this a bit lower score than before, as it just doesn't have the balance it did last time.

This is a very good wine, but in order to drink it now it requires a good deal of aeration. Upon opening it I found the wine to be completely closed. After 30 minutes in the decanter it started to open up. After two hours it was fairly opened and I rebottled it. It continued to evolve and open up through the night. Gorgeous ruby color, with intoxicating aromas of crushed cherries, tar, licorice, violets, vanilla, cassis, and cedar. On the palate it is smooth and silky, the tannins are sweet and the wood is good but not yet fully integrated. The finish is medium to long and echoes the aromas of the nose. Provided the necessary aeration, it is drinking well now and it should continue to evolve for another 3-4 years, providing thereafter for a great drinking experience for yet another 5-7 years. Very good value for the money.

Decanted 3 hrs. Reddish-purple to the rim. On the nose and palate, this was best in the Riedel Bordeaux glass, when compared with the syrah and chianti classico glasses. It was more astringent and hot in the latter two glasses. Nose of red and black fruits, with a liqueur-like sweetness and sweet chocolate notes. There were also some violets, tobacco, earth and perhaps a very slight minty quality. On the palate, this had great supple fruit (black and red), chocolate and was very concentrated but did not taste overly extracted at all. Great acidity and firm but supple tannin finish off this beauty. Overall, great balance. This paired great with grilled portabello mushroom, and fared decently with a grilled rib eye, medium rare. Better with mushroom, as the earthy element comes out.

Won't place a score since I'm writing from memory, but it was an enjoyable Malbec, initally quite closed but opened up with some nice fruit after being in the glass about 30mins. The 92pts is on the second night. The first day I decanted after an opening taste for 1 hour, but it was still showing very tannic and closed. I corked the bottle and left it for the next day to see what would happen. On the second night, absolutely wonderful. The tannins were integrated and the dark fruits came forward with a wonderful smooth body and finish. So if your opening now I'd say decant for at least 5-8 hours.
