Dark - looks like Cab Sav. Nose black cherry, blackcurrant, some floral notes but somewhat overpowered by the fruit which is big and bold. Medium acidity.
Big, fruity on the palate - I thought it could be confused with Rhone. Not much in the way of tannins but some spice from the wood. Some baking spice and almond/marzipan notes on the second glass.
Really nothing like Nebbiolo other than the floral notes so this was not as expected. Glad to try it but not something I would seek out in future.

Wow, if tasted blind I would be close to a Nebbiolo. This Freisa comes from the Bricco Viole plot. The bouquet convinces with some herbs, white pepper, nuts and blueberries. The Kyè always needs some time, but it’s drinking perfectly right now.

Dark ruby with translucence at the edges. Nose red cherries, pronounced iron streak. Palate initially some tannic reluctance but with time becomes more yielding, red cherries with a woody note. A perfumed note to the red fruits. Strong iron minerality. Still structured and with potential for the future. Good with agnolotti.

Medium plus red. Nose has some resemblance to nebbiolo with licorice, but more red fruit. In the mouth there is ample medium red berry fruit, even strawberry to go with the firm tannin. This bottle is a really good introduction to this grape, for me.

Medium red, intense nose of dark berries, coffee, iodine, very tannic, acidic & sour, needs serious food & it went well with grilled lamb chops Mediterranean style, after a few hours it mellowed out, nice length too

Followed over 3 days. Dark ruby, a bit rustic, blackberry confit and iodine on the nose. Tough chewy tannins, and performed best on day 2-3 suggesting along with other tasters that this wine may have some longevity in the tank

Crimson to purple in color. Showing violets, dark berries, and mineral rusticity on the bouquet and palate. Excellent acid, sturdy grip, expansive mouthfeel, juicy, bordering on lush finish. Very nice!

More colour than a Nebbiolo even though the varieties are related. Ruby core, touch of garnet at the rim; cherry coulis, black cherry, herbal nose, medicinal aromas; silky entry, reasonable weight. Tannins a little dry like Nebbiolo. A bit burly in comparison to the other wines. A little short.
bright, lively wine, with red cherry, ripe but floral nose, and elegant, bright mid showing herbs and sour cherry. this is a great example of the grape.

Straits Wines - G.D. Vajra Wine Tasting (Straits Wines @ Siglap): medium ruby; quite tannic, and long; raspberry, mint, liquorice, somked, meaty, cheese; surprising complexity, and I'm glad to have had a great experience with this 2014, after a disappointing 2013...

This is a unique grape which roughly a century ago was relatively common in Barolo. Apparently it's DNA has contributed to the genes of the current Nebbiolo grape. Tasted at the winery. Only in bottle 3 weeks. Dark color. Fruity very much on the nose. Medium full body. Fruit and tannin in finish. Very enjoyable! Somewhat darker bigger than Nebbiolo.

Here we go atruffling... (aka Piedmont... and Veneto); 11/16/2018-11/30/2018 (Alba, Guarene, Modena, Barolo, La Morra, Lake Garda .....): Interesting to realize that we've had this wine before. It's also a pretty one. Can tell there's some overlap with Nebbiolo mostly through the tannic structure (although in Vajra style tannins here prob a bit more intense) as well as the red fruits. More of a strawberry kind. Easy enough drinking, but have the feeling that this could go for longer. Touch of jam style. Good though.
