Dark cherry hue with rim of dark orange. Dark red fruit, little barnyard, sweet, earthy nose. A little tart, dark cherry, soft, 14% alc. Drank with pizza. Enjoyable.

Monthly tasting club LTC 2018-04; Mourvedre (@ MvG): Beautiful and somewhat rustic bouquet with dark berries and autumn impressions. On the palate juicy dark berries, well dosed oak, beautiful and juicy acidity in harmony with a touch of sweetness and beautifully round tannin with still a pleasant bite.

Decanted for an hour. Dark red fruits that got sweeter with more air, garrigue, dust, smoke. Medium tannins (enough to let it lay down for a few more years at least) and medium acid. Simple and straightforward. Finish got more and more bitter as we tasted.

A few Bandols (Eric and Rita's): Very clean and polished. No earthy or funky notes. Red fruited with hints of licorice. More acidity than the others. Not very complex but I enjoyed it. A nice food wine.

Nose has a disquieting funk that tempers with decanting and air. Mouthfeel is flat and uninspiring. On the palate, bitter flavors of licorice, and bark. Utterly unenjoyable.

Seems a bit tired & past prime (or doesn't have the right balance for long aging). Notes of candied fruit showing alongside barnyard, with a very smooth body that makes it seem lighter than it is. Actually pretty nice until it falls apart on the finish. The good tastes fade rather quickly, leaving a surprisingly long bitter finish.

Erik12903 has it pretty well pegged but I feel this has likely improved since I last tried it in 2012. Pretty nice now. Popped and poured. Elegant body, but a little heat from the alcohol still.

A little heat on the finish and quite big style, but also quite charming with christmas spices, dark sweet berries without being jammy if you follow me on that one.

Aroma: tobacco, black pepper, cloves, a bit funky Palate: cherries in dark syrup, wood, fig. It was a little thin. I liked it; my dinner companions thought that the taste was odd.

This wine was delicious! It was complex with a variety of flavors on the palate with just a hint of smoke riding over the top of them all. A long finish that made me take another sip. The bottle disappeared too fast and I was sad I didn't have another.

The cork failed on a properly stored bottle. A vein of wine wormed its way all the way through the cork in one tiny area and corroded the capsule. The resulting wine was as bitter as the palate can experience, with an after taste that lasted at least 10 - 15 minutes. Perhaps my worst wine experience ever, even for corked bottles.

Cloves, lilac and red meat initially dominate this deep garnet mouthful. With time, a strong earth and garrigue characteristic emerges. Firmly tannic and a bit rough, this young wine displays a terrific silkiness that shows great promise for the future. Needs time, but I greatly admire the energy and stuffing this wine displays in a most elegant package. Needs five plus years at least. (90+)

Had some element of fizz. Not as powerful and smooth as expected. Decanted for 1h. Will have to open another bottle from this trusted winery for real judgment.

Poured into a decanter and got a booming nose of barnyard, game and funk. With air this lessened to a nice gamey nose. On the higher acid side with more of a red to dark red fruit spectrum, pomegranates for sure. Pretty simple and straightforward, not too much in terms of complexity or nuance.

The wine was a lovely, gentle Bandol filled with fruit, and pepper on the back palate. It took a while to open up but it was well worth the wait and held up on the second day superbly (we didn't finish the bottle on the first day). It paired well with artisian cheese and leg of lamb. Enjoy!

Just a little bit of pleasant barnyard in the bouquet. Very ripe fruits. A (very) firm amount of sticky tannin and acidity. (After this wine I tasted the 2005 which is much more friendly and pleasant.) I don't think this 2006 will ever be as good as the 2005.

Good dose of leather, top soil and red cherry on the nose. The palate has some good red fruits up front, quickly turning austere and awkward on the mid palate. Drying tannins are all you're left with on the finish. This wine is in a weird place - hopefully it can improve with a couple of years, but I'm not holding my breathe.

This Bandol which is mostly Mourvèdre is tasty with a slightly barnyard nose, prune, and rasin. The taste is tart, cranberry with a odd tannin finish. I would not recommend this bandol thous it does not seem shocked. 83, okay but not worth the price

Second shot at this wine - nice aromas of crushed red berries and fruit with dutch chocolate and wet earth. The palate was dominated by red fruits and rose pedal. A touch of menthol on the end. This wine seems a touch too thin for me and slightly astringent on the finish.

Drink now, with food. Very good expression of a good, mature red Bandol.

Weekly tasting group #011; A fully blind test. (@ MvG): Dark red. Ripe fruits in the bouquet. On the palate quite tasty with some eucalyptus, chocolate, menthol and sweetness. Overall a good and interesting wine.
