  • My third bottle in about 5 years. Once again really delivering great depth and quality. On the nose a great composition of stone fruit, loamy earth, wet clay. Palate shows intense fruit, black and blue, with a mineral and gravel undertone. There is a touch of oak on the back end. Along with some green notes. This is in a great place to drink with a few hours of air. Overall delivers.

  • {Corton Clos des Corton tasting organized by JL at Black Cat} Standout in a flight with the 2013, 2017, 2018. Elegant if a bit reserved nose, not opulent but still packed with fruit, very good length, needs time! Agree with other cellartracker notes, 92-93 tonight

  • This wine is currently a bold, muscular Burgundy with impressive concentration and depth and rather hedonistic. I followed it over two days and it showed clearly improved on day 2 with more aromatic complexity and a touch more sweet fruit but it is clear, this will need more time to integrate and mellow. Currently it drinks at roughly 94 points but it has the potential to become a 96-98 point wine once mature. I would wait at least until 2026 before opening another bottle.

TN: On the nose and especially palate this displays fresh red fruit with sweet and sour raspberries, strawberries and red cherries, lots of terroir expression with minerality, earthy tones, mushrooms and stems. On day 1 the sweetness and fruit was more dominating, on day 2 the earthy tone along some burnt sugar and toasted oak showed up making it more balanced and complex. Very good intensity and precision. Impressive concentration and length embedded in a harmonious structure with bold but very fine tannins and a good freshness. Medium++ length.

Decanting: Better wait 5 to 10 years. If you open a bottle today, a very long decant is advised.

  • Consumed over 4 hours. Definitely grew on me over time. Nose is acute and linear. Showing berry fruit, soil and gravel, perfume, fresh cut and clay. Palate is laser like with tart black and blue fruits, crunchy mineral, iron ore and fresh forest. Young but still able to shine. Potential for score increase.

  • A noticeable high quality to the purity and layers of red fruits, spice, and earthy, mineral limestone rock that carries the still tight and compact interior to a finish that is long and clean. Really good.

  • Five winos excellent adventure , mostly in Burgundy; 6/7/2019-6/15/2019 (Beaune, France): Expressive nose displaying pure concentrated red fruit, perfectly ripe strawberry, cherry, lightly smoked meat, spicy spices and limestone. Exceptional concentration, very finely layered concentrated pure red fruit, dense yet silky, precise and detailed, perfect amount of acidity and mineral and a seamless long bright red fruit driven finish. The best CDC of the flight. The wine to own!

  • 2018 Visit to Domaine Faiveley (Nuits St. Georges): Faiveley's famous monopole, a rare monopole with its long-time producer in the name. A cuvée worth following in most vintages, this being no exception. An attractive bouquet of spices, dark berries, cassis and violets. In the mouth, pure and clean. Black and dark red fruit, game meats, steel, earth and limestone. Satiny tannins and refreshing acidity. Tightly coiled. Closed with grip on the relatively long finish. A quality cellar wine that will need longer than the 2017 (say 10+ years). I also preferred it over the 2017 version.

  • Barrel Tasting at Domaine Faiveley (Nuits Saint George): Barrel sample. This is big, rich and dense. Fruit is currently on the jammy side of the spectrum, but there's plenty of structure too. Needs a lot of time. 92-94+ point potential.

  • From barrel at the winery. A bit darker than the 2015 version, light nose, palate shows beautiful dark richness, velvet tannins, a beautiful Cortons.
