Quick decant. Nose of poached pear, stone fruit, and a hint of sweet lemon. Racy, mineral-driven palate of white citrus fruit and light floral notes. Clean, polished finish with lemon, wet stones, and some tropical fruit notes.

Very nice Bourgogne Blanc punching way above its level. At a beautiful place right now and doubt it will gain much by further cellaring. Gunpowder, slight reduction, hints of almonds and butter, yellow apples but all kept well together by a good acidity and limited oak.
Not overly complex but a very fine and enjoyable wine

Best Buy on the list at Stone Barns for $125 when it’s $175-200 at a store. Tight and elegant with a lightness and pretty shy fruit but the key was I left some in a glass for 3 hours and at the end it had totally opened and taken on weight and the nose was really floral. It was pretty amazing at that point. So, this probably needs some time to become what it can be.

PNP. The nose on opening is a bit skunky which masks the fruit. Thankfully it blows off after a couple of hours. Medium weight palate, tropical fruit and a round texture, not showing much acidity or cut. Pleasant (after the skunk blew off) but nothing more.

I wasn't too impressed w/ my first btl in May last year but tonight's was stellar, just 18 mos later. This btl exhibits quite a lot of Roulot pedigree. Sadly, the village & Ler levels are completely out of my reach now. Back in circa '05, I was sourcing Roulot's '02 Les Perrieres for under $130, the villagers for $50-$70 & the Bourgogne in mid $20s. The Bourgogne is still very impressive & semi-accessible to mere mortals like myself. When I can find it!
Tonight's btl exhibited that extra concentration, purity, subtle fruit & mouth coating minerality you expect from Roulot. I count myself lucky to drink Roulot whenever I come across it. Arguably one Burgundy top 3 white Burg producers, period. Like most Burgundy though its in short supply.

Drunk in the sunshine along the L’Isle river near Perigueux. Lovely setting and lovely wine with citrus and melon tones. Quite an extraordinary so called ‘Bourgogne’ wine (although it isn’t really) as not even Leroy et al can produce a Bourgogne this good. worth every point of the 91 score given. May even be worth the price it retails at which for a burgundy name is impressive these days. Still drinking beautifully and it tastes as if it has many years left. I have the 17, 18 and 19 so will try one of these of the next week or so to compare

Deceptively easy to drink. Silky and flowing, typical hint of Roulot-sake on the nose, light structure but harmonious and fresh, slightly short on the finish. Completely ready, drink up.

Amazing quality for the price, and perfectly mature right now. It is sharp, focused and balanced, with a lovely crispiness that comes from a very fine acidity. Flint, eucalyptus, citrus fruits, white flowers. This is really delicious and impressive for a generic burgundy. I've had more pleasure with this wine than with some Meursault Luchets or Tesson mon plaisir from lesser vintages. Wish I had bought more of this.

Happily cruising on its plateau of maturity. Very agreeable and harmonious rather than very exciting, lovely succulent fruit (mainly the creamy lemon which I associate with Puligny), discreet oak, relatively broad style with ripe but fresh acidity. Drink sooner rather than later.

Expressive and bright on the nose with tangy lemony fruit, flint, smoky reduction and a hint of oak. Extremely pleasant and attractive! On the palate expansive and airy with a strong presence. More heady than I remember previous vintages being with some bite on what I feel is a slightly uneven finish. Has very good drive and energy. Not as refined as the previous vintages, rougher on the edges if you will, but most definitely nothing to say no to. The standard is high and for sure this is not as good as the 2015 but I am personally perfectly happy with the purchase - the drinkability especially is very high.

Nose with citrus, butter, a bit of flint and wet stones. On the palate, this wine has a wonderful balance of sweet, round elements such as pear and meringue as well as a noticeable, but never dominant acidity and tart/herbal characteristics reminiscent of sorrel. Smoother but still great on day 2.

Popped and poured though the tasting note is taken on the second glass. Needed a bit of time to come down from cellar temperature.
Wine is a light lemon color, not very concentrated, very bright and clear.
On nose, I get lemon, powder candy, a wet slate minerality, and ripe pears.
On palate, wine is sound. Low alcohol, medium-high acid, dry. Nice long clean finish. Citrus and pears predominate on the palate, along with a little yeasty earthiness.
This is an extremely elegant wine. The quality is notable. I suspect the key difference between this and a PC or GC is in the intensity and complexity of flavors on the palate - admittedly this is a little simple - but the balance and finesse here is undeniable. Am I living the power of suggestion due to the name on the label? Perhaps. but this wine reminded me of the best Oregon chardonnays I have had. And I really like those wines.

On day one, thought this was pretty average and disappointing for a Roulot, but started to impress more in day 2, so maybe needs more time. On day 2, significant length, citrus rocks etc, but lacked some of the complexity from spice and depth. Will wait a few years until I try the next.

This wine has gotten some shade that I don’t quite think it deserves. Good 2016 Bourgogne Blancs that I’ve had show a lot of ripeness and dry extract, whereas 14 and 17 appear to have more piercing acidity and more citrus, less orchard and stone fruit. But I digress..
The 2016 Roulot BB outperformed my expectations today. Pale gold in the glass, it showed well both at cellar temp and as it warmed. Lots of white peach, nectarine, and golden delicious apple, with balanced (but not searing) acidity. Fleshy in texture and round in the mouth. It may not live as long as its surrounding vintages, but might be more in my own preferred style.
No reduction here, just lovely flinty fresh white burg. Nice stone fruit on the palate too which hints to the Mâcon but there is grapefruit freshness too. Lovely wine

No reduction. Pear and straw. Lacks structure on the palate to support the weight but comes together to support a finish of moderate length. In 2016, Roulot lost significant domaine grapes to frost, so this is supplemented by purchased fruit. Drink now through 2023.

I thought this was just better than ok. I think it might be that my expectations were too high since Roulot is my favorite white wine producer and almost all of my best white experiences have come from his wines. It just lacked concentration in a significant way. Almost vapid which bummed me out. I know you can’t expect 1er cru taste in a Bourgogne Blanc, so perhaps I’m being too hard on this one. I would say that I think you’re better off drinking better village level Meursault instead of this wine at the same price point.

The wine was quite disappointing as it came off as a bit on the thin and on acidic side. I understand his wines come off as reductive but even with a relatively long decant the wine didn't really fill out. I bought this with much excitement having tasted the 2015 vintage not long ago which I thought tasted fantastic but this in comparison really left much to be desired. I can only hope that with time maybe the wine will fill out but I feel that Bourgogne Blancs are meant to be consumed relatively early rather than stored in cellars.
The wine itself objectively is actually pretty good but compared to the price, its previous 2015 vintage, and the producer, it's a pretty disappointing vintage of Roulot's Bourgogne Blanc.

Not the strongest vintage of this wine. Which unfortunately 2016 has provided much disappointment for me in general with White Burg. Still a delicious wine. Just lacks the tension and liveliness this wine usually has.

How disappointing. Smooth and fairly long, but the flavor profile is completely flat , the acidity very weak and overall there's not much of anything going for it. The Pinot Grigio of Burgundy. To top it off, the price is ridiculous.

A private lunch (Restaurant Brut de Mer, Amsterdam, NL): The 13 domaine vineyards in Meursault (the village, not the AOP) only yielded 12 barrels in stead of the usual 80 in 2016, so the cuvée contains two-thirds négociant fruit in this vintage (mainly sourced from around Puligny which did not suffer so badly from the frost). As Barry Rothof already mentioned, the (citrus and peach) fruit expression is relatively rich here, but the wine seems to lack the wow-factor which Roulot often delivers even at this level (e.g. the excellent 2012). It’s a solid, even lovely Bourgogne Blanc, with warmth from discreet oak, but the palate lacks the usual tension and length. Expensive for what is, in this vintage.

I buy Roulot's BB and Aligote fairly regularly in recent vintages as they've become the only Roulot a normal guy can "afford." lol. This '16 is showing some of the challenges of the vintage as Roulot lost much to frost. It's rather simple, straight forward, low acidity, upfront sappy white fruit. Borders on being cloying due to lacking structure/spine. It's tasty in an- open- for business way, and crowds might enjoy it on a hot day, but it lacks the complexity Roulot usually gets at this level. And when not super-successful, in hindsight the price seems outrageous. Drink up.
Very nice Bourgogne blanc with classic Burg notes of just ripe orchard fruit, apple, hard yellow peach, minerals and slight sappiness; medium body, classic, not especially complex but solid. EWG Entre Nous.

Crisp, clean and elegant. Great minerality. Classy stuff for a Bourgogne blanc. Can’t expect too much depth here but the style is what I’d hoped for from Roulot. Going to sit on the other for another few years to see if it picks up weight.

Kjøpte druer i blenden.

Very nice initially but even better after a few hours. Definitely a reductive element here accompanied by minerals and petrol. Sweeter components of honey, green apple, and spring flowers provide plenty of lift. Acidic and likely needing a few years but drinkable now.

Presis og ren nese men ikke særlig detaljert. Uansett tiltalende og flott. I munn er den derimot slapp og gul. Veldig fet med lav syre. Noe kort finish. Strammer seg litt opp med luft, men forblir skuffende. Ville gjettet en middels Macon blindt her.

Chewing gum, cool mint and distinct oak. Powerful but unbalanced, flabby and not up to Roulot standard.

Nice floral, honey aroma. Mineral, lemon, pith. Loosens up a bit after a day open.

Friday night blind BYO (Anders Condoe): Light spicy tones, fine situs / grapefruit. Slim palate with slim acidic fruit. Salty mineral.

Presis og ren nese men ikke særlig detaljert. Uansett tiltalende og flott. I munn er den derimot slapp og gul. Veldig fet med lav syre. Noe kort finish. Strammer seg litt opp med luft, men forblir skuffende. Ville gjettet en middels Macon blindt her.

For me, at this stage, not quite at the level of the last several vintages, though still quite nice.

Savoury citrus and stone fruit aromas. The mouthfilling palate is showing lightly spiced tones and the richer fruit you'd expect from the Maconnais!
